2023 RedBull TKO Hard Enduro Extreme Enduro Race ECR eMoto Electric Class eBike
Sufferfest squared. It's like a Batman comic ; 'ow' , 'ugh' , 'splat', 'crack' , 'pow ! '. This type course highlights how a lack of reciprocating mass in the engine & drivetrain manifests itself in pain & suffering. A 25 year old XR 200 would likely be the most civilized machine for amateur riders in that terrain. But it's an E-Race after all - so suffer on you mighty few, & don't forget to tip your chiropractor.
Definitely highlights the 'endurance' part of enduro riding.
And lack thereof my endurance 😂
DAMN, I had to watch this in two parts. It was all I could do to make it half way, I was worn out and EXHAUSTED. Mad props to anyone who's capable of navigating this course at a decent speed.
Looks brutal, nice attempt.
Brutal. How much do you use the clutch on that thing?
I actually made an effort to not use it as much this year. I only really used it to load up some RPM to pop out of a few tough spots. Otherwise just rode it without the clutch!
@@ElectricCycleRider good stuff bro
That race looks like so much fun!!! I wish i had an electric bike to come compete in that class.
Have a full year until the next one!
Gawdayum was this grueling to watch these bikes are taking a beating and the riders stamina and mental fortitude is insane
Wow tough looking race but badass as hell.
Nice video, only 12 minutes in so far. Must be nice to ride that EM prototype!
Damn Tucker, brutal! Bummer on the overheating/dead battery, that’s tough after all that to end like that. Can you let us all know the brand of the top three bikes that finished were and what mods they were running, including gearing, and tire selection?
Thanks Paul! The video description has each riders bike make/model. I don't know what tires and gearing they were all running though...
Hey Tucker, I see the KTMs we re quite successful. They seem to have solved the coolant leaking onto the controller issue, I wonder how? Otherwise this thing would be a time bomb
The KTM's did great! Made me second guess my decision to not ride one in certain sections! I haven't had a coolant leak on mine... wasn't aware of that issue!
@@ElectricCycleRider Oh, I'm sorry to worry you. According to the forums, even the newest ones seem to break the coolant seal to the PCB after a certain amount of hours... People are trying to make a tougher seal by themselves to prevent a 3k$ ECU repair. I was so close to buying this wonderful KTM, but this issue prevents me. But I wonder - I could simply waterproof the whole ECU by clear coat spraying it... Why don't people do this?
I’m going to try and go next year. ✌️
Please do!
Even though you were breathing hard it look like you were doing better with arm pump. What was up with your bike was it overheating or dead battery? I'm surprised your seat had issues in the second race. What was up with that? Be nice to know why the other 4 riders dnf too. There's always next year it was great watching you soldier on.
For sure! Still had pump but the change of bars and grips seemed to make it more manageable. We're still not sure exactly what happened but believe the motor was reaching it's temperature limit and controller was killing power as a result. The seat was a mystery to me. The first race it lost a bolt but the final race it stayed connected in the rear but popped out in the front.
After my GoPro died, Brett and Jesse caught me on the hill where my bike died. I eventually heard Nate and DJ at the bottom of the hill below me but at that point, the clock had run out in the race. So everyone who hadn't completed the course at that point (and myself included) reached the time limit and our race was over. I feel like most everyone would have finished if there was not a 2.5 hour time limit. Cheers!
@@ElectricCycleRider when I race Motocross I had a real problem with arm-pump the first Moto. What I started doing with success was riding the practice for my color or size bike. Then riding the vet practice. Then riding the late practice. That really helped. In the cross country arena, I would find a little turn track or someplace I could push myself before my line took off. Then top off my fuel and lineup that would help also. Since I've been riding electric other than poker runs I have not raced

overheat? strange never heard of this issue.
