Yes! OK so Ladybeard is an Australian professional wrestler who moved to Hong Kong back in the early 2000s to do martial art stunt work and then later to tokyo where he linked up with 2 Japanese models and made an album together. He left shortly after and Ladybaby rebranded as "the idol formally known as Ladybaby." After a few reshuffles, one of the original girls rebirthed the name Ladybaby with 3 other girls and that's the most recent incarnation. Nothing quite matched what the original brought to the table (IMO) but a lot of people are still really into them. Ladybeard was recently interviewed on the podcast "Trash Taste" and it resulted in a whole new wave of interest. Love these guys! That dude is known as LadyBeard, he's an Australian wrestler. You should check out Deadlift Lolita next, it's what he moved onto after he was removed from Ladybaby.
I've seen him once in the Metro (Tokyo subway/underground train). I was just commuting, and he was like 1-2m from me. In full girl idol uniform. Respect :)
Back in 2015 I got to see this version of Lady Baby in NYC and I have to say it was one of the most fun shows I had ever gone to. Honestly everyone there was so into it. I really enjoy Ladybeard because he is so obviously having a blast doing this. You should check out the Dicodec interview with him and all things will be explained. Loved the reaction BTW

Cited as the first group to follow in the Kawaii Metal footsteps of Babymetal, Ladybaby's song 'Nippon Manju' garnered over 1 million views across all platforms in its first 24hrs!!! Richad Magarey, aka Ladybeard, is from Australia and moved to Hong Kong as a Martial Arts stuntman and was in several movies! It was there that he started wrestling and developed his 5yr old Little Girl persona. Turns out that people went Wild for his Character and his Popularity Sored!! Later, he brought his act to Japan where he found even Greater success...and this is when his management brought him the music/promotional project that became "Ladybaby"!! The song 'Nippon Manju' became an online sensation and the group toured both in Japan and in the USA at various Anime conventions! However, in August 2016, Ladybeard left the group citing Visa issues. He later returned to form a new group called 'Deadlift Lolita' and subsequently the group 'Babybeard'. The two grils, Rei and Rie, continued on with the act after the departure of Ladybeard by renaming the group as "The Idol formerly known as Ladybaby" and produced a handful of songs before the departure of Rei in late 2017 to rejoin her sister in the band 'Brats'. You should check out some of their stuff too...Really Rocky/punkish styles!! Rie then held auditions for 3 new members to join her in the group and brought back the original name of 'Ladybaby'. This third iteration of the group was arguably the most successful with multiple charting songs and record sales, and a fuller touring schedule. The group also moved away from the Kawaii Metal side of things and more into an Alt-Idol-Metal sound. The group announced in September 2019 that they would be ceasing all operations after their last live performance. On January 13, 2020, Ladybaby held its last event that also coincided with the release of their final single/MV "Misoge Island". The MV also had a closing message from the group thanking all of their fans for their support over the years. One of the members from this final group, Emily, went on to join the group "Passcode" as their new "Growler" after the departure of member Yuna in 2021. Also, Rie has started up her own Solo Idol act called "Ilie" (thats cap "i" ). On a side note, you mentioned you saw a "Ft. Ladybeard" in the name of one of the videos....Ladybeard did come back and rejoin the group to make a "Sequal" to the song "Age Age Money" that was called "Biri Biri Money" and it was a fun romp with Ladybeard Training UP the new members so they could Fly out on their own!!! You're venturing into a whole new world here: the Japanese underground idol scene. A bit of explanation might be helpful. Japan is filled with fantastic bands (rock, metal, ska, punk, you name it) and you've seen some of them already. But there is also a huge and thriving underground idol (or "alt-idol") scene, consisting of groups (and some solo artists) who sing and dance. Idol groups are not "bands" in the traditional sense, although some of them have permanent backing bands and there is some crossover. (Side note: Babymetal is a difficult one to classify. They exist pretty much right at the intersection of "idol group" and "metal band". I would say they started closer to the idol end of the scale and now operate more like a metal band.) We can pretty much date the start of the underground idol scene to 2010, when a singer called Pour Lui formed a group called Brand-new idol Society (BiS) with the specific intention of challenging and subverting the safe, saccharine, kawaii conventions of Japanese idol music. Other early groups included BELLRING Girls Heart and You'll Melt More. Hundreds more followed. One important thing about alt-idol is that it's not a genre label, because the alt-idol scene encompasses countless musical genres: there are idol groups doing extreme metal, punk, hip hop, psychobilly, synth-pop, psychedelic trance, reggae, disco funk, and pretty much anything else you can think of... and plenty of groups who mash genres together with gleeful abandon. For the most part, the scene is made up of groups operating on shoestring budgets, performing in small venues, although there are groups with much bigger profiles, like BiSH and PassCode. Another important thing about the alt-idol scene is something you touched upon in your reaction to Nippon Manju: serious effort, serious fun. Some of these groups, despite performing in tiny sweaty clubs to audiences of a few dozen fans, perform with a contagious energy that would put many major rock bands to shame. Sticking with Ladybaby for now, I recommend reacting to "AGE AGE MONEY" live at 恵比寿LIQUID ROOM - January 13, 2020 - and then tell me you don't wish you'd been in that crowd. Cheers!
@@GOTGames Don't sleep on the alt-idol groups - so much to see, so much entertainment and humour, as well as good music. 1975, London, England: Iron Maiden and the Sex Pistols were formed. 2010, Tokyo, Japan: BABYMETAL (J-pop meets heavy metal) and BiS (J-pop meets punk) were formed. Oh, I must recommend you check out Nipon Manju by LADYBABY too - essential viewing! ;op Can't have a comments section without that.
Love Ladybaby, three different line ups over the years the original which is what you've just seen , then just the two girls , then one left and the last girl Rie was joined by three more and they made a great album called " Reburn " So much more to them than just this song which most reactors do. Have a look at " Renge chance " with the original line up " Pelo " with just the two girls And " Riot anthem" " Haten ni Raimei" " starless sky " with the four girl line up but to be honest nothing they have released is average so click on and enjoy the ride 😁
Please please please could you check out One Ok Rock's Skyfall. It was a collab they did with some other artists in Japan, there isn't a official live video but you should be able to find the live version somewhere 😊
He finaly found BabyLady *LOL* @ I`m binchwatching your BabyMetal reactions ;) I`ts a fellow crossdressing Aussie who lifes in Japan and that was, in fact, a commercial for the japanese tourism department ^^
Oh my! Wasn’t expecting that. Yes,many questions,I must go to the comments to find some answers! They were actually pretty good. Great reaction Luke! #Wafflegang ❤️
Lady Beard have a new project, is very awesome. And The girl with the black hair have a new band called Brats, is a Rock/Pop Metal band, it is very cool, you should checkout
This was the first taste of Japanese music for me and I was intrigued! One of the girls (pink dress, darker hair) formed her own group called BRATS and they rock pretty good too.
LADYBEARD DOES A SONG WITH TAMU THE DRUMMER FROM NEMOPHILA. IT IS A DELIGHTFUL VIDEO. THEY BOTH SHINE WITH STAR POWER. TRY, TAMU MURATA FEATURING LADYBEARD_D&D.
Ok, so I literally had to leave this in the middle of this and eventually make my way back to it. It was initially hard to tell how sincere it was. But tbh, the pure honest joy of this is incredible. You should check out 'Pump up Japan's from Ladybeard's previous band, Deadlift Lolita. Masterpiece.
The more questions we answer, the more confused you'd be. :-) For example: 2:28 "how the hell did this group form ?" it's an idea of a clothing company Ladybaby was very much inspired by Babymetal. What the guy Ladybeard does is actually even slightly more impressive than you'd think. When you have a larger body doing the dance moves takes a lot more energy. Now because of his wrestling he's obviously very fit.
This line-up is already history. But a few years ago they had some bangers like Easter Bunny, PeloPelo or PinkyPinky (as a duo). Ladybeard gave them so much weirdness, but it was a short life phenomenon ...
Richard Magaray was an Australian wrestler working in aChina and Japan, and is a cross dresser, currently fronting BabyBeard. Rei Kuromiya whilst her hard Alt-Rock band Brats was on hiatus was one of the girls. With the success of Babymetal there were many groups probing the kawaii Idolcore genres
you need to do Labybaby AFTER lady beard left, they got some good songs and I saw them at an anime fest in Houston. Try this these HATEN NI RAIMEI, Riot anthem, starless sky, and Island. This is the second Kuwaii metal band after Babymetal and they went from a Gimmick band to something serious, sadly the band could not survive COVID lockdowns but i hope they can make a comeback.
Blast from the not so distant past! This little group/commercial wasn't meant to be seen outside of Japan and it blew up! They were appearing at anime conventions and events in the UK and US. They got a few more songs out and then the guy that was singing for them had a disagreement with management and was fired. Once that momentum was lost neither he nor the two girls could get a group together strong enough to make this kind of impact.
well..... guess some explanation is necessary..... he's Ladybeard, a very popular pro wrestler with New Japan.... also he's a really really funny and great dude(tte).... Trash Taste channel did a podcast with him a year or so ago, you might wanna check that out.... the song itself is great too, as it is basically an over the top tourism ad for Japan....
The video makes me laugh EVERY.TIME. But the song is also catchy as heck! This is definitely not new but Ladybeard did form a new band called Babybeard. The same two girls are not in this band though.
Your next ONE OK ROCK reaction has to be to "The Beginning" live at Yokohama stadium. You haven't seen them play anything hard yet and live at Yokohama stadium is easily their best live performance. Because of how epic this concert is you could pick a random song to react to everyday. It would be awesome to watch.
new home of metal? japan has /always/ loved metal, they just never let their grip on the genre in the pop-consciousness slip. from flower travelin band in the 60s all the way to now. theres a reason people like yngwei are "big in japan." rock music just never hit the dip there it did in the west.
I highly recommend you check out Ladybeard on the Trash Taste Podcast. He's really high energy, hilarious and talks about the band and how it was formed. He also taught Connor (CDawgVA) how to be a Japanese Wrestler.
Ah, came across them some years back, but not quite my thing. Sorry to read, in the comments, of the breakups and re-formings of the group in the years since, though - they were a lot of fun and the world always needs that. Now, about Heilung...
Since nobody told you how this formed, here a quick explanation: The group was formed by a clothing enterprise who tried to ride Babymetal's success in the Kawaii metal genre, and they were fairly successfull at the beginning. But then their lack of experience in managing groups came out, and the group kinda disbanded like others already told you
Good news! You too can be in a Japanese girl metal band! Maybe even this band could take you! lol I actually discovered them because this song was in the end credits in the video game Fat Princess Adventures and I thought it may have been a Black BABYMETAL song or collab I had never heard. Sadly this was really the pinnacle of the group imho. They have a few other good songs but they've ended up having a lot of turnover in the group and I believe only one of the girls remains from the original trio, and LADYBEARD (the guy) has been doing other projects.
Could you pls watch all fairytail intro’s you can do it in parts bcs its pretty big but fairytail is my first one that i watched and stil is my number 1 anime it made me cry it made me smile it really feels like youre part of their guild its really not bad and i think you will like it ofc its funny and it only gets better arc by arc 😭
As much as you might enjoy this it actually turned Ladybaby into a novelty act and is the reason their later work didn't get the attention or respect it should have.
Bloody Shame they never had the opportunity to open for any Babymetal concerts. Had they i think they would've survived much longer, maybe they'd be around today. Cheers!
@@livefancams Thx for the info.! 🤘 I was focusing on Babymetal with Headliner concerts only. Not at festivals. For example bands like Hellyeah, Bring me the Horizon, etc. were openers. Cheers!
After a View Songs he was Kicked out of the Project and first the two Girls and later four Girls made it a view ywars longer. But he started a new Project: BABYBEARD
Oh my.... yeah ladybaby was one of the first to jump on the "kawaii metal" train, and capitalise on the success of Babymetal (notice the similarity of the naming).... Thank goodness they died a quick and early death..... I would hate to see how many more gate keeping girls like Band Maid, Lovebite, Aldious etc would have to fight through, if Ladybaby was what western audiences had to compare Babymetal with, and thought that that was what the rest of the lady metal groups coming out of Japan was like....
@@livefancams Good for them for the change.... I guess their early years left a bad taste, and by then I've moved on to Lovebite, Aldious, TriDent and Unlucky Morpheous (and ofcourse Babymetal).
Pentatonix "Rather Be" or "O Come All Ye Faithful", I don't care if it's not Christmastime it's Christmas in July so "O Come All Ye Faithful" isn't fully irrelevant. Edit: I can feel my brain cells dissolving just by watching this reaction, but it ain't the reaction it's the music

Oh, I must recommend you check out Nipon Manju by LADYBABY too - essential viewing! ;op Can't have a comments section without that.
Love Ladybaby, three different line ups over the years the original which is what you've just seen , then just the two girls , then one left and the last girl Rie was joined by three more and they made a great album called " Reburn "
So much more to them than just this song which most reactors do.
Have a look at " Renge chance " with the original line up
" Pelo " with just the two girls
And " Riot anthem" " Haten ni Raimei" " starless sky " with the four girl line up but to be honest nothing they have released is average so click on and enjoy the ride 😁
Please please please could you check out One Ok Rock's Skyfall. It was a collab they did with some other artists in Japan, there isn't a official live video but you should be able to find the live version somewhere 😊
He finaly found BabyLady *LOL* @ I`m binchwatching your BabyMetal reactions ;)
I`ts a fellow crossdressing Aussie who lifes in Japan and that was, in fact, a commercial for the japanese tourism department ^^
u can check out a podcast Trash Taste with him as a guest if u wanna know more
Babybeard (his new group) was just in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Oh my! Wasn’t expecting that. Yes,many questions,I must go to the comments to find some answers! They were actually pretty good. Great reaction Luke! #Wafflegang ❤️
This is an acid version of BabyMetal
🔥🦊🔥
I recommend you react to Ladybaby's Riot Anthem, for my taste it is one of her best songs. 🕯️🖤
Lady Beard have a new project, is very awesome. And The girl with the black hair have a new band called Brats, is a Rock/Pop Metal band, it is very cool, you should checkout
Rei -> BRATS
Rie -> Ilie
Lady beard is a wrestler in Japan too
This was the first taste of Japanese music for me and I was intrigued!
Deadlift Lolita - Pump Up Japan
This was the video that started me going down the Japanese rock rabbit hole years ago.
If you want to check out more LADYBABY, I'd recommend Renge Chance. It's about saving the world with ramen 🤣🤣🤣
I love the Japanese. They are seriously bonkers! Weird, wonderful and entertaining!
THEIR PRANK SHOWS ARE GONZO.
Oh you came this far🤣
Still there are bunch of groups from Japan to let your face melt.
Sitting in the corner and patiently waiting for Maximum the Hormone :)
Luke, you heard the man
he did a song with Tamu from Nemophila called 4-D, great video
The more questions we answer, the more confused you'd be. :-)
For example: 2:28 "how the hell did this group form ?" it's an idea of a clothing company
Ladybaby was very much inspired by Babymetal.
Ladybeard is great. he did have another song with another girl as a new group called deadlift lolita. You should check it out
Great reaction mate :)
If you in japan music already try Nyango Star - I wait it :)
I am pretty sure they formed because they are all bodybuilders, or maybe it's Ladybeards new group that did that.
I play this every morning to my neighbors through my 10000 watt PA!
well.....
guess some explanation is necessary.....
he's Ladybeard, a very popular pro wrestler with New Japan....
also he's a really really funny and great dude(tte)....
Trash Taste channel did a podcast with him a year or so ago, you might wanna check that out....
the song itself is great too, as it is basically an over the top tourism ad for Japan....
WOOOOOOOOW YOU FOUND IT!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The video makes me laugh EVERY.TIME. But the song is also catchy as heck! This is definitely not new but Ladybeard did form a new band called Babybeard. The same two girls are not in this band though.
If I'm not mistaken this was an advertisement introducing the Manju district
Your next ONE OK ROCK reaction has to be to "The Beginning" live at Yokohama stadium. You haven't seen them play anything hard yet and live at Yokohama stadium is easily their best live performance. Because of how epic this concert is you could pick a random song to react to everyday. It would be awesome to watch.
❤️
@@GOTGames I thought you'd love to see them play the song that made the world fall in love with them, myself included.
Never a fan of this group personally, but more power to them. 😆
ha ha ha WTF man !!!!!!!!!! just what I was expecting when I saw the thumbnail to this video for you and reaction
I Have them seen in Germany live an it was an epic party
new home of metal? japan has /always/ loved metal, they just never let their grip on the genre in the pop-consciousness slip. from flower travelin band in the 60s all the way to now. theres a reason people like yngwei are "big in japan." rock music just never hit the dip there it did in the west.
I highly recommend you check out Ladybeard on the Trash Taste Podcast. He's really high energy, hilarious and talks about the band and how it was formed. He also taught Connor (CDawgVA) how to be a Japanese Wrestler.
It is amix of What the fuck and what the hell. Ilove it
His new band Babybeard is very similar. You should react to them too. Age Age Money would be another good Ladybaby to check out.
Ah, came across them some years back, but not quite my thing.
Sorry to read, in the comments, of the breakups and re-formings of the group in the years since, though - they were a lot of fun and the world always needs that.
Now, about Heilung...
Since nobody told you how this formed, here a quick explanation:
The group was formed by a clothing enterprise who tried to ride Babymetal's success in the Kawaii metal genre, and they were fairly successfull at the beginning. But then their lack of experience in managing groups came out, and the group kinda disbanded like others already told you
It looks like LADYBABY may have disbanded, but LADYBEARD has a new band called BABYBEARD
Nice reaction. Checkout the videos to Ladybeard new group Babybeard - Nippon Kara Konnichiwa or Piennizer. Just as awesome as this
Yeah, that's a pretty normal reaction to seeing Ladybeard for the first time.
Basically was a spoof of BABYMETAL that was actually good and became its own thing.
How? how? how i didnt saw this on this channel?
Lady beard is in a group called deadlift lolita
Ladybaby - starless sky next?
4:18 = wtf am i watching
7:30 = i love this
DRESSED SAME AS THE GIRLS ? DO I HAVE TO PUT PARENTAL DISCRETION WARNINGS ON THE CHANNEL LUKE ? LOL
Have you heard of the legendary band called X-Japan??? If not, do yourself a favor!!!
Next song: LADYBABY - C'est si bon Kibun
Good news! You too can be in a Japanese girl metal band! Maybe even this band could take you! lol
I actually discovered them because this song was in the end credits in the video game Fat Princess Adventures and I thought it may have been a Black BABYMETAL song or collab I had never heard.
Btw, he isn't lipsing, he actually is really fluid in Japanese lol
Bloody Shame they never had the opportunity to open for any Babymetal concerts. Had they i think they would've survived much longer, maybe they'd be around today.
Cheers!
they played on the second day at anime fest in houston after Apink
@@livefancams Thx for the info.! 🤘 I was focusing on Babymetal with Headliner concerts only. Not at festivals. For example bands like Hellyeah, Bring me the Horizon, etc. were openers.
Cheers!
I know this was ages ago but if you ever get round to this comment then please check out the new ladybaby with Starless Sky. It's a banger!
check out, happa tai yatta
After a View Songs he was Kicked out of the Project and first the two Girls and later four Girls made it a view ywars longer. But he started a new Project: BABYBEARD
If you think that weird, try « PonPonPon ». It more J-POP it really something to see
It feels like Rammstein meats Babymetal 🤣🤣
Oh my.... yeah ladybaby was one of the first to jump on the "kawaii metal" train, and capitalise on the success of Babymetal (notice the similarity of the naming).... Thank goodness they died a quick and early death..... I would hate to see how many more gate keeping girls like Band Maid, Lovebite, Aldious etc would have to fight through, if Ladybaby was what western audiences had to compare Babymetal with, and thought that that was what the rest of the lady metal groups coming out of Japan was like....
meh, you did not see the reformed band with 4 girls they rocked and were great. I hope they come back
@@livefancams Good for them for the change.... I guess their early years left a bad taste, and by then I've moved on to Lovebite, Aldious, TriDent and Unlucky Morpheous (and ofcourse Babymetal).
Bro, you need to check out PASSCODE !!!!
😆
#HOGWAFFLES
Nope this is the biggest gimmick I've ever seen said it when it came out saying now don't waste your time
profoundly consumerist. unless it's ironical?
Pentatonix "Rather Be" or "O Come All Ye Faithful", I don't care if it's not Christmastime it's Christmas in July so "O Come All Ye Faithful" isn't fully irrelevant.
Edit: I can feel my brain cells dissolving just by watching this reaction, but it ain't the reaction it's the music
Band is on hiatus indefinitely
🤘🇯🇵🤣🇺🇦🤘
