If I go to someone’s house and it’s dirty looking or I see animal hair all over I WILL NOT EAT AT THEIR HOUSE ‼️💯 the reason is if they can’t make sure their house is clean what do they do when they make food ?? My small town I grew up in had a coffee shop owned by Mennonite. I learned so much and I enjoy hearing about your culture. Many cultures don’t share and it’s difficult to understand. I personally love learning about cultures. Schools don’t teach these things and sometimes I feel like there’s a bad stigma if you ask a person questions.

I enjoyed your video! I lived in Kentucky and there was a large Mennonite community where I lived and I loved buying things at their store. I miss the homemade jam so much. It tasted like my grandmas.
I just started wearing skirts, trying to get away from jeans and pants. I vacuumed the house in my long skirt, asking my husband how women clean house in long dresses. I recently needed a rug for my boys room. I ended up purchasing a carpet and requested they bind the sides. It made for a perfect "rug". The rugs you purchased look really nice.

Because she's downsizing to move and she let me take that Mennonite Community Cookbook that she's had since the 1960's! The one with instructions on food for a barn raising, the one tattered with the decades of love. It's a prize. When I think of my heritage I go to chicken corn soup with rivels, shoo fly pie, chow chow, apple butter, Dutch goose. Seven sweets and seven sours 🥨🥒🥞😋

I've found recently that making a paste out of baking soda and blue Dawn dishwashing liquid and a toothbrush to scrub with will get most stains out. Then I let it dry, vacuum it up, check to see if the stain is gone and if not do it again, if it is then I use the handheld part of my steam cleaner to get the soap mixture out unless it's a large area, then I just use the steam cleaner.
@@PositivelyAmy My dog was attacked by another dog and bled all over my carpet (big spots) while I was trying to find a veterinarian that was open on Sunday. Afterwards, I tried peroxide, and cleaners, special pet stain removers and nothing worked, and then I tried the dawn/soda paste and with scrubbing it came out. A few areas I had to repeat, but it worked. I thought for sure I would have to buy new carpet.
The salad looked so appetizing! Also, if your rug is still wrinkly, try ironing over a damp towel on a low setting...it's a tedious process to do the whole rug, but might help!
Cornbread salad? My Spanish and Creole blood is like, “Why”? Then I see carrots with basically a shrimp and chicken fajita with no cheese, onions, or peppers! No rice? Lol, I hope you understand that I’m joking. My husband is Irish and when were first married I noticed so many differences in our cooking. He said I definitely introduced him to flavor. Lol.
My lunches usually consist of whatever is in the fridge or whatever I can get my hands on. I must not have had peppers or onions around or I probably would have added some :)

I live in Ohio and we have a Amish community here and I remember being at the hospital and they were in the waiting area where we were and I remember feeling so awkward because I never been in such close proximity and feeling as if we were from different worlds(in a way we are) and I remember them looking at us on our phones and us feeling guilty (when I know the love their modest lives more than our complicated stressful lives) but needless to say the Amish woman noticed my husband was standing and she spoke to her husband and he offered my husband a seat...never judge a person based off looks speak up and speak to because you never know what a person's kindness and gestures will be towards you.....They were really nice people.

Extremely friendly and kind, Well the people I've spoken with at least and thats here in central PA, left me with a warm feeling that we're all human no matter religious belief whatever. I'm overly friendly so I'm always talking to random people lol
I can still remember the first time I saw someone like that (tho they were Quakers at least that's what my mother said). It was at the beach in Santa Cruz California, I was 6 or 7 yrs old. The woman was wearing a pretty yellow dress and white bonnet and I just thought she looked so beautiful and told my mother I wanted to dress like that. I've always admired that style and, except for a short time when I was really skinny, I dress more modestly than anyone I've ever known, even the religious ones. I'm far too liberal to be friends with Mennonites, Amish, etc, (even though most liberals now call me conservative) but I like the simpler way of life.
This looks very similar to my daily adventures. I take care of 6 so I’m cleaning, cooking multiple times a day and redecorating on occasion. I like to watch videos like this because some days I’m not feeling like doing it and it just helps push me along ❤️ Good job on a great day momma!

Menonites seem so cool to me, we have a lot menonites in my hometown or they visit the stores here but it definetly seems like you live peaceful, fullfilling lives.
I was a stay at home mom for 10 years. I LOVE the way you interact with your home and kiddo!! I was no where near as skilled!😉 I would like to point out however something I did notice. not once did you pick up a cell phone and distract yourself from what you were busy doing. It's a very admirable feet in this day and age. Mennonite or not!

Do you know how I know that my mom loves me? Because she's downsizing to move and she let me take that Mennonite Community Cookbook that she's had since the 1960's! The one with instructions on food for a barn raising, the one tattered with the decades of love. It's a prize.
When I think of my heritage I go to chicken corn soup with rivels, shoo fly pie, chow chow, apple butter, Dutch goose. Seven sweets and seven sours 🥨🥒🥞😋

I own a few cookbooks from our area church groups. I love many of the recipes due to having eaten many of them and knew the people that made them.

I've found recently that making a paste out of baking soda and blue Dawn dishwashing liquid and a toothbrush to scrub with will get most stains out. Then I let it dry, vacuum it up, check to see if the stain is gone and if not do it again, if it is then I use the handheld part of my steam cleaner to get the soap mixture out unless it's a large area, then I just use the steam cleaner.

@@PositivelyAmy My dog was attacked by another dog and bled all over my carpet (big spots) while I was trying to find a veterinarian that was open on Sunday. Afterwards, I tried peroxide, and cleaners, special pet stain removers and nothing worked, and then I tried the dawn/soda paste and with scrubbing it came out. A few areas I had to repeat, but it worked. I thought for sure I would have to buy new carpet.
That sounds like some good cleaner! I’ve never tried that before so it’s good to know that it works that well!
The salad looked so appetizing! Also, if your rug is still wrinkly, try ironing over a damp towel on a low setting...it's a tedious process to do the whole rug, but might help!

Lol, I hope you understand that I’m joking. My husband is Irish and when were first married I noticed so many differences in our cooking. He said I definitely introduced him to flavor. Lol.

My lunches usually consist of whatever is in the fridge or whatever I can get my hands on. I must not have had peppers or onions around or I probably would have added some :)

Your video showed up in my recommendations as well and I'm now a new subscriber. I live in Ohio and we have a Amish community here and I remember being at the hospital and they were in the waiting area where we were and I remember feeling so awkward because I never been in such close proximity and feeling as if we were from different worlds(in a way we are) and I remember them looking at us on our phones and us feeling guilty (when I know the love their modest lives more than our complicated stressful lives) but needless to say the Amish woman noticed my husband was standing and she spoke to her husband and he offered my husband a seat...never judge a person based off looks speak up and speak to because you never know what a person's kindness and gestures will be towards you.....They were really nice people.

Extremely friendly and kind, Well the people I've spoken with at least and thats here in central PA, left me with a warm feeling that we're all human no matter religious belief whatever. I'm overly friendly so I'm always talking to random people lol
@@autumn5852 as a kid is go to am Amish market. The Mennonite kids would hand me religious pamphlets. I always wanted to chat, but was timid as a kid.
I can still remember the first time I saw someone like that (tho they were Quakers at least that's what my mother said). It was at the beach in Santa Cruz California, I was 6 or 7 yrs old. The woman was wearing a pretty yellow dress and white bonnet and I just thought she looked so beautiful and told my mother I wanted to dress like that.
I've always admired that style and, except for a short time when I was really skinny, I dress more modestly than anyone I've ever known, even the religious ones. I'm far too liberal to be friends with Mennonites, Amish, etc, (even though most liberals now call me conservative) but I like the simpler way of life.
This was recommended and so happy I watched. So soothing and relaxing. New subscriber now ❤️

This looks very similar to my daily adventures. I take care of 6 so I’m cleaning, cooking multiple times a day and redecorating on occasion. I like to watch videos like this because some days I’m not feeling like doing it and it just helps push me along ❤️ Good job on a great day momma!

You can also use pinto beans instead of the kidney and black beans. I also sub out onion for the green peppers.

Green onions would be wonderful in place of bell pepper especially if anyone eating it has reflux issues.
@@lissahenry6751 Actually it can't be a substitute as it has a completely different flavor. Since green peppers are unripe, perhaps a ripe red or yellow pepper would be a good sub.
Menonites seem so cool to me, we have a lot menonites in my hometown or they visit the stores here but it definetly seems like you live peaceful, fullfilling lives.
I was a stay at home mom for 10 years. I LOVE the way you interact with your home and kiddo!! I was no where near as skilled!😉 I would like to point out however something I did notice. not once did you pick up a cell phone and distract yourself from what you were busy doing. It's a very admirable feet in this day and age. Mennonite or not!
