Happy Birthday!!! 🎈🎂 Truck looks way better! I know that feeling of appreciation of restoration! So grateful you shared!! Thanks man! Quick tip for next time: draw a vertical line with a sharpie on the yellow hook and loop pad of the rotary polisher so you can see if the the pad is spinning. It helps you notice if the polisher is not even and when you're applying too much pressure on one side which causes the pad to stand still.
Can I tell you that you literally answered my prayer today. I’m restoring an old truck similar to one owned by my deceased father. Lost his in a series of unfortunate events, but the replacement is as close as I could get. My lack of experience made me want to quit today. However, watching your other videos gave me confidence but THIS video gave me purpose. Your explanation at the end is exactly why I bought the truck. It’s so much more than a truck and sure it’s just a material object, but it represents so much more than a mode of transportation. I wish I could work on my truck with you so that we could share stories. I wish you could know more about my project and just what you’ve done to keep me going with it. Thank you, brother!
Dude, @15:00 mins, it is not "just a truck," you poured your heart and soul into it. "Just A Truck" looks fantastic. I really enjoy seeing the enthusiasm you put into all your projects. Thanks for sharing this.
Happy Birthday, Jason! Thank you for sharing your raw passion with us, you're doing great, keep going! A fellow Washington native here who is in the middle of back pain, it gets better! God kept me here, too, keep living your purpose God has for you! God bless you, Brother!
Love your transparency! Thanks for the video. Love that you gave God all of the credit! Happy Birthday, Jonson. Can’t wait to see the success in your future come to pass.
I’m about to start working (again) on my 85 w150 project from high school. I have loved seeing all of your videos over the past while. Love how much you put into your truck and your work, god bless!
Came to watch your garage shelving video, stayed for this video because I love old Dodge trucks. Great work & enjoyed seeing your enthusiasm. Good luck to you!
Great suggestions!! Thanks for your Old Dodge videos! They've given me so much inspiration for working on my 86 D150. Its my first truck since I was 17, and your videos has kept me from letting it go!
Fair play, I never watched this video but you should be very proud of yourself and everything that you accomplished in life. Sometimes just going for a drive in my truck, clearing my head and maybe taking the dogs for a hike or even just a 20min ball fetch game can make a huge difference. We all hit low points in our lives, so keep your head held high, be proud of who you are and the folks you hold dear. God bless and take care always. Chris.
Congratulations for your truck DUDE! this video is great!!! Very inspiring, I just acquired a truck of the same color, but your words at the end are great!!!
Thanks for sharing a little of what you have gone thru and sharing your faith. I hope things continue to look up. I am going to save this video and try these steps on my old truck, it has a couple of dents but I won't let that stop me.
GOD BLESS you brother !! My boys and me love your videos !!!!! We are looking to buy a dodge now for my 13 year old and make it a father son project !! Keep going with your channel !
Jason, great video. 👍🏻 I have enjoyed all your videos and you are inspirational. I too have a gray 4runner and this is how I found you. Keep up the good work 👏.
You’re a rockstar dude! You overcame a metric SHIT-TON and through all of that you’re still the same grateful, humble, humorous and deeply kind Jason I’ve always know. Your character is unwavering!
Jeff! Thanks my friend. We all have been through a lot the past few years. I'm just thankful to be on the other side of it. Every day... even crap days... are all a bonus at this point. BTW... it was awesome to see you in person for the first time in years! Let's hang out again soon.
Happy Birthday young man! Love seeing what you have been doing on this channel. I feel your pain and can empathize. God is good and has helped me heal up these last couple years as well! Look forward to more from you!
Happy birthday! I wish my 89 D100 looked as good as yours! I love your channel, especially your Ram videos! Keep up the amazing work - and here's to 40!
Think I'll be coming back to this one in the near future...just got myself an ´89 D150. Living in Germany now, but from a fellow (eastern?) Washingtonian, happy bday and nice truck!
I live with very high heat in the summer. This summer we hit 119F on one day. There are a couple waxes that hold up under that heat and both are Collinite. The electrical insulation wax and the super doublecoat wax. I can't say they provide the best finish, but they seem to handle the summer heat. well. The first wax seems to make it through 3 months and the second seems to make it through 4 months. I don't wax the 93 D350 anymore as the paint is "patina". Maybe it should get a similar clear coat over it but not in a shiny clear coat.
Awesome video, for the Clear coat, in the future you should look into Spraymaxx 2k clear coat. On a car I did similar process clean, scuff then paint and had pretty good results for $20 a can. The only disadvantage is you have to tape stuff off, and wear a respirator as it is a spray.
Happy birthday Jason! I have honestly been struggling with the same question on my '87 W150 on bed liner color, I would go with the black for both of our trucks, I think the red that any one offers is going to not match closely with the Dodge red. I hope you do a video when you do the liner!
Thank you so much for sharing! Romans 8:31, never lose faith. I'm very thankful for your videos. Keep being such a stand up guy. We need people like you more than ever.
Hey Jason. Great videos. I also own as a daily driver the same truck. 87 d150. Do you happen to know where I could get the side/wheel well trim? Mine never had any. Thanks.
Man I love this truck! It looks phenomenal. Get a quart of single stage paint that matches the oem color. Raptor makes tintable kits and I had a good experience using it on fender flares for my inferno orange Tundra.
Howdy Jason, I'm Lucas turned 24 two days after your birthday. Happy Birthday Man!!! Sorry for it being a couple weeks late forgot to follow your Instagram or else i would have known. I unfortunately have bad back my self now, i cant really walk, run, stretch or work on my own Dodge Truck with out being in excruciating pain. I currently am depressed do too joining the military during a extremely bad and toxic time which are the reasons why i have so much health issues now. I can relate a little bit. If someone where to tell me ill be getting out of the Army Medically and seeing my alive past 24. I would have told you, your smoking some crazy sh**. I'm gonna be dead by next year. The first thing I'm gonna do once im out and home. I'm gonna buy Poppy's Patina and use it on my Dodge since it's just paint with no clear coat. I am very religious man my self. I stuck by my beliefs, yes DOD deemed those like me liability's and stripped us from a lot of benefits but God is always #1. Thanks for late birthday gift i loved this video it was very relaxing and rewarding too see a beautiful truck just shine. Stay Awesome Dude keep uploading that great content you make.
Don’t blame yourself about the Poppy’s Patina not coming out right. That stuff sucks unless you spray it on which kinda defeats the purpose. I had the EXACT same experience with that stuff applying it in 65 degree weather. The least they could do is provide an applicator that doesn’t disintegrate into the clear-coat after the first 5 minutes. Basically you have to apply it in wet single passes because it sets up so fast….and when you do that it runs🤷🏼♂️
Hey man I don’t know if you’ll see this but I love the videos and I’m actually fixing up my 89 dodge and I love the color of your dodge and I was wondering if you could reply to me with the color names please
I have the flat black hood accent, any suggestions? P.s. since any bed liner probably isn't period correct I would either want to see you do black, or call me crazy... do the patina clear coat in the bed. We have talked before and my bed looks like yours but I don't really plan on hauling anything crazy other than the yearly Xmas tree or things too small for my Mazda. That being said, the last moments of your video inspired me and also makes me want to be your buddy even more man. A lot of people would be proud to call you thier pal.
Happy Birthday!!! 🎈🎂

Thanks Jesse, and that's a really cool suggestion.
That truck bed looks like a truck bed should. I like looking at it and knowing how much work it's done. Welcome to 39!
I love it too… but it’s starting to have a tiny bit of surface rust.
@@JasonExplainsThings clear coat it?

Thank you for making these
I did one back in December. More are definitely planned.

What a way to spend your bday! I certainly enjoyed getting to celebrate with you over some tasty steaks!
Great day 🎉 happy birthday keep it up 🥳

I don’t. Maybe LMC truck?
Jason you always deliver! Love all the content! A spray bed liner would be sick! I vote red!
Man I love this truck! It looks phenomenal.

Is this a stage 1 paint or did it come with a clear coat from factory?

I’ll try to find out. I’ve looked and it’s hard to find the paint codes.
