It is filmed at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom on September 9th and 10th, 1998. The DVD version is the first DVD release from Bauhaus.

David J came into my line at Whole Foods. I recognized him right away. I told him that I’m reading his book & that I’ve been listening to Bauhaus since high school. He put me on the list for sold out acoustic set that night. Left work early & got in a cab & had the best night ever!!!! Sweet amazing dude. His book is 11/10.
Hope he checked there were no spies in that cab...
whole foods was around in 1999 ?
Will Chill tho s happened in 2017. Whole Foods has been around since the 80s
Nice story man. I always saw him like a cool guy. I hope that the reunite one more time :)

This is everything what a rock & roll concert to be. Look at this - theatre at it's best.
I think Elvis and co may disagree. So love this band. Great set what?
First and best Comeback of Bauhaus ever !!!
The darkest of dark wave (we've never used the term "goth" in my country). BTW, they sound just like in the old days. Ash's guitar has the same sharp sound and Peter's voice is exactly the same as it was back in the 80's. Incredible.
God.... That look on Daniel's face once he got his jacket back was like a child on Christmas! Further proof of how dedicated we Bauhaus fans were, are, and forever will be.
Zaknafein Aconite, YES! Dedicated til the death, and beyond
That jacket does look amazing!
I guess haha huh ?
But then again maybe Germany in the house 🏡
I’m half German on my father’s side and studied German expressionism and Bauhause
I love every one of these great men! What a scene! To ever see them live would be orgasmic!
Peter Murphy is the best indie rock music entertainer ever. Lucky to see this tour concert in Milan.
Kevin, is such a powerful drummer that keeps this band on track! 😎👍🥁
this seems like a fantastic concert to have gone too....and what a great playlist they did. I am just glad it was filmed so many of us can experience a wee bit of what it was like.
joydivisiongirl it was a fantastic concert incredible
I saw them on that tour. It was great, other than the songs being slower than they had been in the past. I never thought I would get to see them. Yet, there they were. It was magic.
He was 39 here...he looked so Magnificent!!!!!
Truly impressive performance. Absolutely stunning.
Imagine walking the streets and alleys of New Orleans in the 80's, jamming to Bauhaus while tripping on Cid...Nothing else like it here in the US...Bauhaus, The GOAT of GOTH...🖤🖤🖤
love Bauhaus!.. first saw them at Rafters Manchester 1980! x
how lucky you are ! first saw them at Paris "La Mutualité" 1999
Awesome. Mine was at University of London in 1980
Birmingham Locarno 1981 but only cos my Mrs fancied Pete Murphy and she'd been playing their stuff non stop...hahahahaaa...they were great though.
I bought tickets from a scalper to see that show. That's something that I never do, but in this case, it was worth it. it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I was pretty active as a photographer in the NYC music scene for more than 10 years, so I've seen more than a few good ones. This one was something special, on a number of levels.
Gods! Possibly my favorite band of all time! There’s no one like Bauhaus! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The Godfathers of Goth 🖤
I was at this show - it was unfuckingbelievable. Going on Nov. 4th - didn't think it could ever happen again.
I remember this band super high in Las Vegas airport 4 am in a bar!!!!
Wow
I’m ashamed
I’d forgotten how good they really were
I apologise
That keeps happening to me too. Same with Dan Ash's other work. I put on "When the Minutes Drag" the other day, and it was like discovering it for the first time. What an amazing piece of music.
But Bauhaus was a whole other level. They explored so much, but they have such a singular character. No band was ever like Bauhaus, not even close. They were one of a kind.

No one else has said it...I take my hat off to the drumming in this it's tight !
He's unbelievable...
"Kick In The Eye" was brilliant. For that song alone I will seek out the DVD for purchase now, no doubt.
This is great. Bauhaus - esp. Daniel Ash - expressing such intensity - were MASTERS OF SOUND, taking their instruments into the stratosphere of the UNKNOWN! Long may they run. LL
Bravo a celui qui a réaliser ce film c'est une superbe production et merci de le faire partager. Aussi il y a une légère reverb ou éco dont nous pourrions se passer. Merci.
"Hollow Hills" is definitely one of my favorite tracks. That was just amazing!
One word : : Haunting" !!
Compared to the version on Press Eject, this performance really shows how far they have come as live performers. So on-point. Though I think Peter has lost a tiny bit of his high range since the original album recording. Age gives much, but takes much too.
2018 and I am still here!
Daniel getting his jacket back is the sweetest thing I've seen all day
One of the greatest shows I've ever been to/seen in my life.
Me too!
Perfect combination of theatre, art, poetry and rock n roll. The Doors would have been proud. It shows a knowing maturity, and near mastery of what and who the band is; consider how the band starts the show with the expected "gothic" gloom, heavy on the theatrical "pretention," moves through their best numbers, closes with their big "thank you " to their fans, then their best known song to end the set proper. The encores brighten things up visually and musically, with two classic glam-era covers, then the show ends with a full-on "glam" party song, replete with all the "la la las," the house lights up and everyone, even Peter, joyously dancing. Well planned, well executed and fantastically played. An amazing concert, especially for a band on a "reunion" tour. Highest praise.
I haven't seen them since 1983. I wish they'd just shake hands.. knowing how awesome they are together and give us a 40 concert next year... I can only wish!!
At least Peter & David did!
Annnnnnnnd theyre reuniting on November 3!!!
Vicky Gonzalez see y’all there
did you watch the cruel world tour last week?
Peter suffers from debilitating bipolar disorder. He'll be fine for a while, and then he'll have a melt-down. That's why they never toured the reunion album, why his tours often get cut short. He loses all ability to regulate his mood or get along with anyone, and everything falls apart.
I don't know what's up with Daniel, but one gets the impression that he's frustrated at not being more recognized for his incredible talent and obvious hard work. But he also seems a little bit of a grump in general, stuck in his dissatisfaction. David seems to have his hands full trying to resolve the ongoing clashes. The last concert tour got cut short after 13 shows, but I imagine they will keep trying. Peter is doing a Bowie tribute tour with former Bowie guitarist Adrian Belew, and David now. I'm hoping that makes it to San Francisco at least.
I was there. Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. Amazing show!
Saw them a couple of times in about 81, Murphy was mesmerising in a small venue.
First saw them 1981 in Londons heaven club as a 15 year old and blew my socks off wish I had a video of that show!
This is one hell of a gig.
Brilliant that they are still loved!
I love BAUHAUS Forever and Anyway by Pier 😘💀👍😎💯❤🎸🤟😇. HISTORY 😇😎🤪
I had the pleasure of seeing Bauhaus several times in my youth. Most notably in a small club called Routes in Exeter in 1980. I already had bought the Bela 12”, and that tour was to promote release their first LP. They were magnificent and only got better over subsequent gigs. They always put on a great show and commanded attention. Nothing like them ever since. Goth had not yet been labelled at that time. Lol
One of the best concerts I have ever seen. In Barcelona, same tour. In Barcelona played silent hedges

Thanks for posting. That was a good show & I'm ever grateful for David J. reconnecting with both Bauhaus & the JBC, The 70's-80's were great times & I always loved to revisit them. I hope the younger fans had as much fun as we did.
The funniest thing is that "goth" did not exist. As fans we didn't dress that way as most of the bands did not. Possibly the frontmen, but not the musicians. We were too immersed to notice it was a genre.
I'd pay good money to see this live
Seen them 3 times over the last 30 years... They never disappoint.

@@Duke_Togo_G13 I missed the last one. Couldn't bring myself to go out into the crowd. I regret it now. Missed a hell of a show. Won't miss Murphy and Adrian Belew's Bowie show. Murphy is one of the few artists you could say does Bowie as well or better than Bowie.
Bauhaus does the best cover of "The Passenger" , like their name, their performance is true to the creative movement. Bauhaus does the best cover ever. A drop dead performance!!
idk Siouxsie and the banshees’ cover is pretty good. Bauhaus’ zingy stardust’s cover is even better than the original though somehow
Totally agree with you but please listen to their cover Versions of Ziggy Stardust ( David Bowie ) and Telegramm Sam ( T.Rex ) too !!
saw bauhaus june '83 in my home town aylesbury, buckinghamshire, england. Alas the civic centre building is no longer there. Was a great concert...
Saw them in Chicago around 2005 or so. Amazing night. Long concert.
Every fucking song is great. Plus this music is totally timeless
Thank you so much for uploading this. Bauhaus is my all-time favorite band and it makes me so happy when I watch their concerts. I really wish I could have been there. They're such an epic band and they're fucking amazing in concert.

A good friend of mine was their sound man on this tour. Was able to see my hero's a.few times that tour!!
"Good Job" by your friend : )
Always wanted to see them but never got the chance, being in the military i was never in the same place they were touring. Now i am able to see them they are not touring anymore - typical LOL, love listening to them LOUD
Glad to have seen Bauhaus in 2005 (or '06?) in Phoenix, AZ during the _'Near The Atmosphere'_ tour. No opening or support act, just them for the whole show. One of the best shows I've ever seen...
2006 a Barcelona
I saw them open for Nine Inch Nails in 2006 I think it was. What a combo.
@@eboethrasher When I saw them, they played the show and then literally, within days after that, they began to tour with NIN. I'm so glad I got to watch them solo. It was a 3+ hr. show and it was awesome. They played *_TONS_* of songs, even things they rarely if ever played...
Many thanks for the upload. Talk about nostalgia. Love these guys.
Sherrie Fox Thanks!
You are most welcome
I remember this tour when they came to San Diego at the Civic Center. Such a trip when they opened with Peter’s face on the video screen. Great show. 🧛♂️
never heard Pasenger other than Iggy before thank you!
it is quite possible these guys are real vampires, the music is So mesmerizing...
🤫 Shhhhhhhhhhhhh...
I kind of stumbled across this video. I had heard the odd Bauhaus song here and there but didn't really know the band. The music is really good. The guitarist is amazing! So much mood and texture.
THANKS FOR SHARING THIS!! I watched this a while back and have been looking for it!!
This is GREAT! A historic show!
Absolutely brilliant.
This is one of the shows you hate to miss but glad someone recorded. I think I was in NYC around this time but I must have missed out on this one while visiting.Later when I moved there I had a chance at some decent shows but this by far would have been among the best.
Saw them in Dallas on this tour. Never thought I'd ever get to see them live. Was far beyond expectations. The Double Dare opening was pure genius. Thanks for posting.
Thank you very much for share this amazing show. 😊
Could Depeche Mode have gotten the inspiration for the projections on their Devotional performance of In Your Room from Hollow Hills? Or maybe it was the other way around? I wonder...
Saw them on this tour in Tempe. Sunny and warm, perfect for a goth show!
🖤 I love this concert and all the Bauhaus albums
La voz de Peter Murphy, es como escuchar al mismo Drácula, el me encanta. Kisses para Peter.
I was so lucky to catch these guys on my 25 bday. My first love gg bought tickets for us, 5 years after an ugly breakup. Great present, cool chick. Oh, and Type O negative opened.
Damn. Wow, this brings back memories. My friend & I saw this concert/tour in Cleveland that year. Was one of the coolest shows ever. Outside. A perfect ambient setting. We had really decent seats. The entire audience was a sea of black, except for one lady wearing a white wedding gown. We could see her anywhere. Was pretty funny.
I LOVE BAUHAUS FOREVER ANYWAY HISTORY by PIER 😇
Super concert merci
Bela Lugosi's Dead turns 40 today.
UNDEAD... UNDEAD... UNDEAD...
Strangely, the weak point of this concert. Kind of a lackluster performance in a parade of brilliance. I've seen Bauhaus and Murphy solo a few times, and Murphy always sings Bela Lugosi's Dead as a closer, and his voice always breaks at the end. I wonder if he'd do better if he opened the show with it instead. But it's like with Radiohead's "Creep." I think they're sick of that one song eclipsing their entire body of work.

that was excellent. wish i had been there.
I got to see them in Manchester (England). Awesome gig with Pete pissing about on the light rigging whilst singing Bella Lugosi.
Bauhaus é uma das mais importantes bandas de rock da história, pena que eles mesmos não sabiam disto.
That's so often true of the greatest artists. I think it's hard to be truly great, but even harder to be ahead of your time.
Bauhaus ,banda lendária... Autenticidade
Memorable..... Grupo pilar del Goth Dark de los 80 y mas allá...
fabulous 👌
Tremendous musical virtuosity and intense personal theatrical experience (A. Artaud and Z. Stardust)
Incredible concert and performance from all 4 of them. My only problems with this filmed show is that David J's bass needs to be way higher in the mix and I could do with a lot less of the canned audience applause. Between songs is cool but once the song starts, eliminate the audience in the mix. We don't need it for dramatic effect. Bauhaus provides all that.
Yeah, or at least turn it down. The bass could use a boost. A 4-piece band like this relies on every element.
