Outstanding Professor Juan Tejeda.
As a descendant of Native American and Hispanic cultures, This man Juan has history down, I can concur, something I learn reading Texas and American history, even though some of injustices committed by white anglos were left out or justified.
@@kingbeastofburden9231 You only state generalizations, but don’t point out why you think his presentation is poor and what was incorrect according to you. If you’re so smart then detail what was so wrong with his presentation.
@@riro1177 The name Chicano was not used prior to the 60s and even then Mexican Americans did not identify as Chicanos. It was an identity of rebellion that went against the progress of Mexican Americans. It was not a word associated with Mexicas until the liberal educated Mexicans made the connection. Mexicans have always shunned their Indian heritage and leaned more to the Spanish. It was an internal war that existed within families just like African Americans that identified with Africa. My point is that it was manufactured. The identity of the Chicano was created, not a reality. The people claiming to be Chicanos were coming from Universities where they felt displaced and forced themselves into a false cause. Native Americans did not accept the Chicano and some still do not see them as a Native group. Mexicans in general all have roots with the Aztecs, but it does not make us Aztecs. The Lowrider movement was more associated with the Aztecs and their use of the art popularized the Chicanos. Why are Mexican American more Indian than the Mexican? Why don't the Mexicans refer to themselves as Chicanos? Too much on the topic. The music, is truly Tejano, the accordeon was started iin Sabine, TX and moved out to the border in Mexico, contrary to the belief it started in Mexico. That topic alone would have been a good one. A topic of music would reveal the genius and versatility of the Mexican American. Selenas influence alone would b a great topic, and by the way her mother was of Cherokee descent. With that said, a real Mexican American may have roots with Indigenous peoples, Lakota, Yaqui, Apache, Navajo, to name a few. Real Mexican Americans are not 1st generation. And don't forget the land grants, the ones El rey Tigre fought for. So much that could have been covered.

Awesome!! Very well done!!!
This guy is terrible. Bad historian and bad musician.
Catered to liberals, this is the worst presentation.
You're a terrible commentator.
@@riro1177Hmmm, it does not change the fact that this was terrible. unprepared and uninformed. This must be you doing the presentation.
