No joking here... I'm 26 and this is the FIRST time I ate porridge. Also the first time I tired rice milk (man, that was way tastier than cow's milk). This was really a great recipe and I think this will be the first thing to do in the morning! Thanks guys, a lot!
I love watching your videos, they are always so inspirational! Im the second generation of "porridge eater". My dad have had porridge for breakfast, with few exceptions, all of his life, (and so have I, im 23 now so pretty good going really 😆 ) we are not so imaginitive as you guys though, it usually stays the same. Lingonberry or blueberry jam! Besides a classic like that never gets old! (oh well, at least its considered a classic where im from, sweden) 😊
My grandmother introduced to me to stewed prunes as a small child I loved them and I still make them often. Her recipe was of course water vanilla extract a piece or two of lemon peel without the pith and some imported cinnamon. I still make them this way today but I never thought of putting them on porridge because we always ate them cold from the refrigerator. Tomorrow is porridge and stewed prunes and I can't wait! :-)
You guys always inspire me to keep my meals interesting. I've been eating plant based for a few years now and I often get stuck in a bit of a food rut. Wondering if you have any tips or recipes that could help turn my carnivorous dad into a someone who is a bit more health conscious? Thanks for the awesome videos, love from Canada xx
One more idea is to cook the porridge along with a nice tea spoon of cacao powder. When it's all reduced to your liking add honey one tea spoon, combine all of it and enjoy a chocolate porridge!
+The Happy Pear I make banana, coconut porridge all the time, it's probably my favorite! I'll have to try searing the banana next time. You should try carrot cake porridge. Just add shredded carrot and cinnamon when you cook it and then some walnuts, with a touch of maple syrup if you want some sweetness. So yum!
Porridge is life!! Thank you for sharing. They all look delicious. I'm definitely going to make them, especially the first one since banana are my favorite fruit =)
My ultimate porridge is boiling apples with cinnamon, mixed spice & a clove, then dumping the flavored water over the porridge & enjoying... Like a healthy apple pie
You are right about the rice milk! I recently made my oats with part rice milk and part water and it came out great! It raised it up to the next level!
Also a lovely kind of porridge I tried once involved grating some apple and cooking it with the oats and adding a bit of cinnamon and, of course, sweetening it at the end. Nuts also go great with porridge. :)
I usually make my porridge by adding a mashed banana and a teaspoon of cinnamon and lastly sprinkle with some cacao nibs when serving. It works really well in my opinion! Perhaps I should try to integrate an apple in there as well.
what about savory oats? i cook mine in veg stock with some nutritional yeas...i like them the consistence of Risotto i love steel cut oats then i top them with saute'd oyster mushrooms and leeks with some tamari and Sriracha... or black beans and pico del gallo and saute'd greens on the side oats are amazing and loaded with nutrition
I LOVE PORRIDGE!! :D I eat it everyday and I'm always looking for new ways to spice it up (like one time i cooked it in your turmeric milk recipe and it was so good!) I don't have a nonstick pan though so can I just make the bananas on a normal pan??
I love savoury breakfast so I often make the basic porridge and add salt and nutritional yeast. For toppings you can play around with raw or roasted veggies, avocado, and even salsa. Or make the porridge plain and add salt, oregano, chopped olives and a drizzle of olive oil. Some times I add to the plan porridge salted crantchy peanut butter and some sweet chilli sauce. I hope I helped
