Met Baskell once in the BBC bar in Belfast: he was over there/here, as part off his mini series this island and a bit off the other one ( northern Ireland) the episode he finished with in Belfast, began in Wakefield...
It was about bowler hats,,, they finished off in Belfast, the Orangemen who march (month off July) are the only people in the UK who still wear bowlers.
He was with Eamon Holmes, I bought both off them a drink, Baskell had a single malt, and Eamon had a gin and bitter lemon, and a pkt off dry roasted peanuts: the night ended well, with Baskell who not many knew, had a great baritone voice, sang Danny boy, the jumbawhumba version...man off the people was John,,,(RIP)
P.S I was in the BBC bar because my brother, had been in the studio on the news, trying to have a miscarriage off justice overturned, having done 17 years in H.M.P./s for singing come out ye black and tans, outside a mosque....

0:06 No gap between him saying "...in the wind" and "so said Elton John".....I've heard presenters, sports commentators (particularly ITV football commentators) ACTUALLY talk like that over the decades. So in other words, by doing that, they're more interested in their OWN delivery than the lyric they've supposedly chosen for its resonance. Partridge goes on to take it where those presenters would love to take it but only in their dreams!! Well parodied, Steve Coogan.
