The producers had plenty of time to stop her before she did it since she announced it in advance. The fact that they filmed her doing it before calling her into the diary room shows that they knew it would make great tv. Obviously they were going to replace Hardy's toothbrush, but the fact that they intervened after the fact is pretty funny.
I'm sort of glad this was #1. This was one of the truly insane moments which put BB on the map, and unlike Justin and the knife, this one wasn't too far (since they made sure he didn't actually use that toothbrush). Shannon is usually forgotten but she was one cold customer - I hated her at the time but now I wish she'd stayed a little longer than Boogie.
They have a camera in the bathroom but they only view the footage in cases like this or if there is an emergency (some one gets locked in the stall). (:
You probably say that because this was an earlier season. It's kind of been pushed back compared to season 6 or 8, both of which were dramatic from beginning to end. Those seasons were more memorable, but this event tops anything. This was the first time someone had ever done something so catty on Big Brother, and Shannon will always be remembered for this single moment. I think it made #1 on top reality tv moments too. I loved Shannon.

Stupid diary room had to make her semi-confess. If she didn't say anything, she would've gotten away with it. I loved Shannon, and I agree with Cubfan029. She would've been amazing on All-Stars...but so would've a lot of other cast members who weren't even asked.

Cause Will and Shannon actually had a real relationship. Janelle seems smart book smart and is a good competitor. But Janelle is obviously not a people person. Shannon would have given her a run for her money. Will would have been defenseless.
We gotta get Lawon in on this now... that was the stupidest thing ever. Even Marcellas not using the Veto wasn't as bad as "offering myself up on the block to get evicted and to come back with a special power" which ultimately backfired when Brendan beat him out of it.
