Great one, the only video comparing ALL models of their line-up. I fully agree that the M50X is the best one and now you can get it for 130$. Nice allrounder for DJing, Studio and Hifi/Phone. However, why you are 'isolation' on ALL models as 'poor'?
I can attest to the ruggedness of the M50s... After 7 years of hard use, being knocked about and thrown into rucksacks to take to the studio, they're still going strong. Whoever thinks just because something's made of plastic means it's automatically weak should know that design (and the type of plastic) matters just as much. The original ear cups were kind of rubbish though, I replaced them with some from Shure that were much thicker and more pliable. They've lost all the pleather material by now though, but the microfibre backing is if anything, even more comfortable.
Honestly the general opinion on the series really just depends on who you happen to be talking to. I have not tried a single one of them, but I tend to hear the opinion that they're more flat. Like I said, basically a 50/50 split and what you hear depends on where you are. (edited for better grammar and explanation)
M40x indeed is the true flat response. I am a hardcore audio technica fans since 2000's. m50x bluetooth version is even "bassier" than the m50x. Self tested using Neumann TLM 103 microphone But again, doesn't matter the scientific test. It all depends on your ears. I grew up listening to chopin, so i am not used to bass-y sound, but i know which headphone has the better mids.
For neutral sound, we gave the edge to the M20x for being more accurate in the mids and trebles as well as having a better passive soundstage. www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/audio-technica-ath-m20x-vs-audio-technica-ath-m30x/311/310?usage=19&threshold=0.10
It sounds very good.. but not as good as the wired.. but this difference is only noticeable when you use wired m50x with amp. The latency delay is very low, so no problemo.. wired headphones have no latency, so no wireless can be that good.. but whether its pubg or movies.. it's nothing to worry about
No. It sounds okay, not much better than other mid range headphones. The treble will be truly harsh without an amp, because an amp will drive the low end of spectrum much better. Get a Fiio AMP+DAC combo. M50x sounds godly
Bollocks, they're all pretty good for the price, way better than beats etc. They can't compete with my oppo planar magnetics but they are much, much cheaper.
A very straightforward video on the comparison between the headphones. No BS, I love it!
This is the best scientific based review i have seen for ath m series so far awesome

Great video man! Is the M50 basically the very same as M50X (except for the detachable cables)? Thanks a lot!
Good info, thanks! Still not sure if I should buy m20 or m40 because I'm really broke but I want good headphones that won't breake after a few months
Amazing video, everything I could want to know. Thank you! Definetly helped
They should immortalise your face with imojis for various expressions as you have the best face ever! Nice review, loved it.
For some reason the majority of the audiophile community claims the m40x is a better headphone than the m50x.
i OWN AN M40X AND IT'S GREAT. M50X SOUND BOOMY, TYPICALLY LIKE A 'v' SHAPED RESPONSE CURVE.

I never noticed. Guess I watch the m50x orientated reviews. Not interested in the m40x because of their sound.

The M40x isnt "flat" according to rtings charts. Its actually pretty similar to the m50x
Thanks for the helpful review!
This was very helpful. Thank you.
This review is top notch !
Could you do another one of these with AKG K-series of headphones, please?
I've the budget to purchase the m20x or the m30x what should I do? Please suggest me (mixing and mastering purpose)

@@RTINGSdotcom but what about the m30x for mixing purpose?
If you use the M50x BT wired, is the latency as low as the standard M50x?
im also interested in the m50x BT, did you figure it out?

Can you test ath AD1000x? or/and sennheiser GSP 500 or 600?
How is the sound when comparing Audio technica m50x bt with wired connection vs M50X??
Excellent Job!!
Which you recommend for singing?
Very good review =) Thanks
Please, tell me does M50x sound great if we use with smartphones?

i have them all i love the 50,60,70 the most
Great review but at 4:06 this is false. The lows are defo more acentuated on the m50s than the 40s.
What is the difference between the m20x and the ath m20x?
Hey Peter,
They're the same thing. ATH is just the full model number!
Super super useful and simple.
PLEASE!
Tell that better sound AUDIO-TECHNICA ATH-SR5BT or Sony WH-CH 700N ? for pop, acoustic and trance music
What does better sound like..? Sound is a personal preference and unless you have both and change between the 2 you will never even know..
What is about the ATH-SR50BT?
Next pls review wireless keyboard and controller for TV gaming! Also speaker
Too bad this review doesn't include MSR 7 ._.
(Very similar model)

Great video

AD900X review please
Thanks.
M40x😍

m40x is VFM
M40 > M50
Nonsense...
All Audio-Technica ATH-M series Headphones are crap
@T dawg Try Sennheisers or Beyers you'd never go back
Goku SSJ beyer’s treble is too harsh and sennheiser is too expensive
Bollocks, they're all pretty good for the price, way better than beats etc. They can't compete with my oppo planar magnetics but they are much, much cheaper.
Strange statement when that many famous artist use M50X 'crap' 🤦♂️
