    Good argument. I like a room that functions with the owners lifestyle. A media room is the best option. But a TV in the kitchen keeping room is a necessity. Love following cooking shows within sight to my stove.

    A TV above the fireplace is outright ugly, unless it's a Samsung Frame and it's in picture mode or streaming ambience when not in use for watching TV.

    It's one of the worst ideas out there, looks bl**dy awful. Looks cheap and tacky to me.

    Terrible advice. That should be the very last resort. You did not show the TV off like it usually is. Even if the firebox is fake it should be slightly larger than the TV. It looks disconcerting because you do not understand proportion or balance. That would be obvious if you showed from the other side of the room with the TV OFF. Redo the floor plan so it is not the first thing you see in the room and you have a more sensible spot for it. I see your point, it makes sense, but this will not age well. Remember builders decided that corner fireplaces and corner showers were a sensible thing to do?
