    My advice to new investors: Buy good companies stocks and hold them as long as they are good companies. Just do this and ignore the forecasts and market views which are at best entertaining but completely useless

      The key to big returns is not big moving stocks. It's managing risk in relationship to reward. Having the correct size on and turning your edge as many times as necessary to reach your goal. That holds true from long term investing to day trading

    I remember as a young child my grandparents talking about the golden years. I don't see anything golden about growing old. The thing about our health is we can be healthy in the past and healthy in the present, but as we age that can change. I realize they are looking at past and present history, but we all hear stories about people as they age. Do these plans cover dental, vision, prescription, etc. You really do an awesome job in your videos!

      I'm going to be calling you tomorrow or the day after. Can you please, please let me know, what happens or do a video on, if you haven't, I'm new lol, how someone moving with SSDI, Full Medicare A and B-premium will definitely be paid by NC, but I'm not there yet. I have rx's and have an RXD plan our of my SSDI check. What happens to someone who needs a medical plan 🤔, very inexpensive, for Dr's, "specialists", gyno, etc, emergency services, urgent care, vision, dental & I'm just so very confused. I Love watching, the videos, I have do far. You seem to simplify this so much. Greatly appreciated 🙏

    I agree with almost everyone here that Stephanie has done such a good job on these Medicare videos. I am so relieved after watching several of the videos that I am calling her office on Monday and sign up for a Supplement. This last year, the Advantage Plan I went with made me crazy with the referrals, the waiting to get approvals, not having doctors near me who took my Insurance, etc. Stephanie talks plainly, slowly, and clearly. She really knows her stuff!

    Wow. Lots of surprises on cost after retirement; Part B Prem, Medigap or Advantage PPO, Dental, Rx, Vision. Easy $350-$450/month for a couple. I am in excellent health at 64, but the future costs of health insurance is scary. Looks like $5K- $6K per year is going to go to premiums. My wife is already on Advantage Plan,with zero premium, but the more I study this the less inclined I think that is a good plan for the long run, should one go to at least 85.

    What is the difference between Plan D and Plan N... they seem very similar except for the $20 and $50 copays in N (visits and ERs)? Yet, I am seeing lower premiums for Plan D.. so what am I missing, and why isn't Plan D the best choice? Does it (like Plan G) have guaranteed enrollment and therefore accumulate the higher-risk cases that can't pass medical rating?

    Dear Stephanie, you're doing a great job explaining all this in your various videos. I'm about to turn 65 in April 2023, and I live and work high up in the Panhandle of TX, in a region where transportation by air evac / med evac may be needed for specialized care. If that happens, how do I choose a coverage that pays for the air evac / med evac? I was alerted to this by the recent ads pushing air evac / med evac coverage. Does Medicare (in its various forms and alphabetical array) ever pay for this?

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency
      @AbtInsuranceAgency  ปีที่แล้ว

      Medicare Part B does cover emergency air ambulance transportation in an airplane or helicopter if your health condition requires immediate and rapid transportation that ground transportation cannot provide. Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans also cover air ambulance transportation when medically necessary.

    I have just received by mail, a "second notice" (scare tactic) from Walmart Insurance Services. Normally this would have immediately been trashed, but I am wondering if Walmart with the huge buying power they are sure to have-is it possible that the insurance companies they work with may offer cheaper rates? Walmart Insurance Services have a web site but I do not want constant notices (especially with them) about rate quotes by phone, email, snailmail, greeters and first cousins on my father's side (kidding!). Seriously though, might you be able to investigate Walmart's offering of Medicare Supplement plans to see if there is merit as a real option? Love your videos, informative and to the point. I have a question. When you're on Medicare Original you get billed 170.00 per month. If you get medigap G do you have to pay another 100 something dollars in addition to the 170.00 for medicare original. Does this also apply to medicare advantage. I'm confused. Also I'm turning 65 and I am a retired teacher here in Texas. My regular insurance is changing to Texas TRS Medicare advantage. It has a 500.00 deductible with 3500 out of pocket which is not bad comparted to other plans. Is this something I should keep or drop. But once I drop I cant go back to them. I'm scared to drop them and I don't know what to do . Any suggestions would help.

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency
      @AbtInsuranceAgency  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the premium for Plan G or Medicare Advantage will be on top of the $170.10/month Part B premium. Many retired teachers decide to stick with TRS in retirement, because if you drop it you typically cannot get it back. But if you have questions, please give us a call!

    One more question my wife and I both turned 65 within weeks. She will officially retire on Jun 13rd, and her birthday is in on July 14. She just signed a few days ago with an insurance broker with Aetna Medicare advantage that has a 7200 out of pocket. We just received her TRS Medicare advantage plan booklet that has a 3500.00 out of pocket and 500.00 deductible and she is now having buyer's remorse and regrets. She still has not contacted Texas TRS Medicare Advantage to drop their coverage. Although she signed with Aetna a few days ago, can she still drop them and continue on with TRS Medicare Advantage? Or is she now stuck with Aetna Medicare advantage?

    So, if I understand this correctly.
    I'll be 65 in 6 months.
    So you pay 170.00 a month for standard part b Medicare. Plus, a monthly premium for a supplement plan? How much will that be? What's the average range.
    Plus, you have your annual deductible to meet.
    Plus, a prescription premium?
    All, coming out your social security check?
    Geez....😕
    Do I understand this right.

I was also told that they are going to charge a premium of $170 per month. This would take me down to less than $800 per month for Social Security. I am very upset by this.

    • @sct4040
      @sct4040 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Do you already have medical insurance? Otherwise, why wouldn't you want medical insurance? In America, when you don't have money, the hospitals won't take care of you. However, if your SSA is only $900+ per month, it's really expensive for you. I hope you can go to food pantries, also see if there are programs for seniors for electric and gas.
      To be clear: Medicare Part A is free and is for hospitalizations, Part B is for outpatient visits, Part D is for medications.

  • @timb6985
    @timb6985 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I find it interesting that when discussing whether a person should take Plan G or Plan N that most consultants talk about your past and present health and maybe other family members. But the bottom line is that no matter how good our current and past health has been, all will die at some point while on Medicare. If you choose N because you have historically had good health and then come down with some form of cancer that you wish to go to a Center of Excellence for treatment and don't care about the price - then you will likely incur Excess Charges and many office visits-- so your history doesn't always tell you what your future will look like. In the end, I imagine that all the Plans probably end up costing the "average" person about the same out-of-pocket expenses (unless you suffer an untimely death -- like an accident or massive stroke or heart attack, in which case Plan N would have been the cheapest plan). You have said before that if you start with Plan N and then get a serious or chronic illness, it is unlikely you will be allowed to change to Plan G. Thus, once you make your choice, you may have to live (and die) with it. So the real difference in the Plans comes down to how much risks you are willing to take with your health and money. If your health is not that important and you rarely go to doctors even when you are sick or for preventative reasons, then Plan N should save you money. If you have enough saved so that you can afford premiums that will likely double, triple, quadruple (I have no idea how fast premium rates, part-b costs, and part-b deductibles will go up), then Plan-G will give you the best peace-of-mind regarding your future health. Is this pretty much correct?

    • @brocklanders6969
      @brocklanders6969 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Part B Excess Charges are actually pretty rare and most often seen in areas with high cost of living. About 96% of doctors accept assignment. Recent Aetna report said less than 1% of submitted claims involved excess charges and on average they were less than $20. For those concerned about them, I suggest High Deductible G (which often can be $100+ a month less than G) instead of N. Remember, the higher the premium the higher the commission. Agents love G and often use fear tactics to scare people into that plan.

    • @MaryBethMcCoy
      @MaryBethMcCoy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      One thing that gives Plan N an advantage over Plan G is that the yearly rate increases are typically a lot less on Plan N than on Plan G. Stephanie did not mention that Plan G is the guarantee Issue plan. Because of that, there is a much larger pool of sicker people in Plan G than in Plan N. In order to compensate and cover their costs, insurance companies will have higher rate increases for Plan G. Just something to consider when evaluating which plan to choose.

Also if you want to travel the advantage will only pay out of network in an emergency. Also, networks require pre-authorization s for some surgeries and tests you doctor may want for you but insurance decides you can't have. So the answer to your question is can you live within the parameters of your network, afford the max out of pocket if your sick and you won't be doing a lot of traveling. Advantage programs come up short if u need chemo or get cancer & need expensive drugs & in other healthcare situations. U could get stuck paying the out of pocket again if still in treatment from 1 year to the next as they reset the beginning of each yr. U better do ur research on Advantage plans. I call them disadvantage plans cause they sound good till u go to use them then u find out how little they actually pay & they control what care they will approve & what doctors u can see. U get what u pay for & can't switch to a MEDIGAP supplement plan with guaranteed acceptance at a later time after the initial 6 month enrollment period without medical underwriting which can he impossible to pass if u are not healthy anymore or have or have had certain conditions even if they occurred yrs ago. That 6th month initial enrollment period when just coming into Medicare is extremely important to act on so u don't have to pass medical underwriting. U buy for coverage of what may happen in the future which can change on a dime. Any savings u have can disappear with 1 major illness or having to get on expensive drugs possibly for life. These are important time sensitive decisions that must be addressed preferably before u turn 65. Watch videos by Christopher Westfall on u-tube. He explains in great detail all about costs & premium increases & info on Advantage plans compared to MEDIGAP supplement plans, drug plans ect. There are deadlines to meet to avoid continuos penalties for life !! Best videos I've seen & I've watched them all many times over & over for over 2 yrs now as I'm turning 65 in August in 2022. Go with a good trustworthy insurance broker cause they have info on all plans that u will never have access to & make sure that they will be able to help u if have questions about anything even after they sell u a policy. That's critical. U must take notes & ask questions for ur particular situation as everyone has different needs & situations & that must be discussed in detail before u decide what's best for u & get the best policies that u can afford even as future cost increases will happen with Medicare & any policies u get. It can be alot for people who don't have much coming in each month or have much in savings. Sign up for "Extra Help" at Soc Sec office if have a lower income & can meet there requirements. That's what I'm doing right now as I'm on Medicaid & work part time & will continue to do so & into the future as long as able until my full retirement age comes around at 66 & a half so my soc sec benefits don't get cut to nothing from taking them early. Till then I'm applying for every helping program like food stamps etc I can qualify for. I don't have a husband anymore so I am on my own & not in the best of health either. I've paid into the system all my life & now when I need help I feel no guilt asking for it as that's what it's there for, right !!!! It's been hard for sure trying to afford what I need to stay alive-just the needs not the wants. Be frugal not wasteful in life. Best to all
