Now that I've gotten older, I really appreciate this one because it makes me feel happier in general. I still don't think it fits as well with the visuals, but I appreciate the song itself more
I don't blame you, it's a good game. I think the reason it gets so much hate is, that the two previous entries were the original Symphonia and Abyss. And when you follow up two of the greatest games of all time with something that's just good, it's kind of underwhelming.
Wait what? You didn't play the original first symphonia first? Wouldn't that be weird with no context and being introduced to old cast for the first time?
A lot of negativity in the comments. I dunno why though. Thought the song spreads a new light on how to view this opening, and this game for that matter.
Bruh I just realized Lloyd is doing what his scorned Kratos. I have never played the game but from gathering the opening, I can tell Lloyd is stuck in a similar situation as Kratos was back in the previous game.
Ahh yes. my second Tales series game after Abyss. I remember getting the bad ending because kid me didn't know that you were supposed to lose at the last battle for the good ending. Good times!
1000/10 opening:,D. But I do wish that they turned some cutscenes in the game into a anime style though They should have made tails of symphonia dotnw into a anime
There was a good time in my life (towards the end of high school) when I freakin OBSESSED over Tales of Symphonia. I flipped out when I heard about it getting an OVA adaptation, and a few years later, I flipped out again over hearing that it was getting a DIRECT SEQUEL, something that doesn't always happen with Tales games. I have to say that, although I ultimately didn't enjoy Dawn of the New World nearly as much as its predecessor (and for many of the same reasons people have pointed out over the years), I STILL very much loved going back to the same world of Symphonia. You gotta understand, up until this game came out, all we had to go on for Symphonia was just.... fan fiction lol. I loved being able to sort of "catch up" with characters years later. See what Sheena was up to, see what Regal was up to... etc etc...
Absolutely nothing wrong with that. People hate this game, but in my opinion it’s mostly unjustified (and may also be because of nostalgia and people comparing it to the first symphonia). Not having the world to explore is kind of a downside, but the combat is still fun, and the story is fine enough. Perfectly good game if you ask me.
Same for me. I've played ten other tales games since, including the first Symphonia game and this one is still my favorite. I am biased but I love Emil with all my heart and I find him way more interesting as a main character than the heroes of the others I've played
I was playing the prequel and 1 day when I was in the middle of it I accidentally turned this game on (they were on the same disk). I was about to restart it, but the begining sounded like a good song so I told myself there will be no harm in listening it once. And after watching it whole I was like "Oh great, whole team survives the first game. SPOILER".

Tbh it just hurts that lloyds voiced different. I haven't played this game and i don't think its terrible, i just realized that they also didn't bring back Troy Baker for vesperia, and I remembered lloyd. So here I am bangin out to this song.
The singer's voice gets kind of ear-piercing and unbareable in this song after a while... which is a first for any Tales intro, as every other one I've heard is AMAZING, no exception.
+zoozbuh Her voice is alright, though? Innocence R has a pretty mediocre opening, Destiny 2's isn't amazing (It's good though), can't say I really care for Legendia's. Tempest's wasn't too fantastic either..
@@TylightDark Tempest singer is the same as this one (Misono). Yes her voice is alright. And her song is not really that bad either. She sings with band day after tommorow before. I still remember her song itazurana kiss till now (Inuyasha ed i believe). Oh right, She's the one who sings symphonia opening. Yes i can see why innocence R is mediocre if we just know about the sound of it. I think KOKIA herself say that she want people to understand how luca feel so she decide to not doing artonelico like opening on R. And surprise, the lyrics is exactly that. But the cost, the song become really flat and soft japanese pop song. I think tc just dislike very fast tempo and climax song with high pitched voice. I believe he say this kind of thing too at lydie and suelle opening. Which have dual vocal with different lyrics. The singer is Ceui and riya (eufonius) who have high pitched vocal. The song is really good though imo, but he say it's bad you see. lol
I actually enjoyed DotNW. Just as much as all of the other Tales of games. Especially the taming/training monsters minigame. They really should bring that back in a new title someday (I have not played Arise so I dunno about its mechanics yet). People get too caught up in whether it "beats" Symphonia 1 or not and no it's not even close, but it's still a great game. One of my only gripes about the game is the fact that it didn't feel like a sequel (I'm not talking about outdoing Symphonia), but the original cast just felt like eye candy minus Lloyd, but him only slightly. None of them developed or helped the story at all. Xilla 1 to Xilla 2 did a sequel true justice in my eyes.
Honestly I will say symphonia and vesperia will always be my go tos since they were my intros to the franchise before going and playing the older ones out of curiosity but the whole “this one is the best and that one isn’t as good as the other” just annoys me. Every tales of game apart from the couple with sequels like dawn of new world here for symphonia and xillia 2 for example) each have different characters, worlds, and themes. I have not played a tales game I can say I think is terrible all of them have had pros and cons to me whether it be in combat/rpg mechanics or characters and writings. They all try different twists. It’s a series that I truly believe is underrated and I loves tales arise so excited to see how their next entry comes outs although also hoping for a tales of xillia 1+2 remaster one day lol.
@@lc3212 Yeah, personally Vesperia (kinda obvious given my name), Abyss (My first game), Zestiria (Yes the combat is wonky, but it has one of my favorite casts minus how poor the games wrote Alisha), the Xillias, and Berseria are my favorites. Realistically, I love most of the Tales games. I can think of something I enjoy about every single of them even if I haven’t listed them all directly. If they ever remade the Xillias, the only thing I’d want changed is Ludger being a silent protagonist. We can still have his dialogue options, just make all of his lines voice acted. I don’t mind silent protagonists in certain franchises, but Tales isn’t one of them. It’s a shame since Ludger is right up there with Velvet as one of the coolest MCs. Though I haven’t played Arise yet so I cannot say that definitively (it’s actually on my shelf and list to play I just haven’t gotten around to it yet).
I think it depends on which one you hear first. I am more nostalgic for the English one for that reason. Both are great songs. I feel the English one fits better.

Basically they experience it firsthand and sort of having some sort of nostalgia google made for it. Kinda like how people said wild arms 2 instrumental is the most epic things ever when what they get is actually gimped version of the opening. Or how wild arms alter code f despite having cleaner version and better audio is lesser than 90's version of wild arms opening. I'm glad that this kind of treatment of localization is becoming less common nowadays with games with good song tend to have their songs intact.
Its just a matter of taste really, like for example i also think this is way better, but im also the guy that the dudes mentioned before me: I love the thrumpet in the wild arms 2 it fucking bops and give a diferent feel to me than the original. I love tales of zesterias original opening but the guitar opening ive seen just fucking rocks too. And i also prefer the original wild arms instead of the remake but its not because of the music but because they changed the opening so yeah, as you can see to each its own taste.
Ah I might've been a little too judgmental in my initial comment. Like the English version is more cinematic with it being purely instrumentals but I feel it loses the enthusiasm that the Japanese version has.
As someone who enjoys listening to instrumental music,it is not bland. Vocal singing is popular because people like putting a face to what they like, most don't even care what the song is about when it's mainstream stuff. I do like my vocal music from time to time(Within temptation is one of my favorites) but many epic & emotional moments in media use instrumental music. I like both songs but when it comes too which fits better with the game,I would say the instrumental says more & fits better with the scenes shown while the music plays.
+Xavier Illa This song matches more than English version. That was one thing I detested about the older Tales games, the orchestra opening songs did not fit them at all. It's supposed to sound more upbeat, like an anime.
+StormSnake0618 So 0:59-1:18 with all the happy sounding singing sounds more fitting than the serious tone of the english version? How does that even make sense? This version couldn't be any more unfitting during certain parts. Not every Tales opening needs to sound like an anime opening.
@@KratosAurionPlays I love your channel but come on just because singing sounds happy doesn't mean that it is and vice versa. It is called lyrical dissonance for example Tom Jones' It's not Unusual,Katy Perry's Chained to the Rythym, Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal, The Killer's Mr.Brightside, Copacabana by Barry Mannilow is a disco song about a a show girl who drinks herself to death after her boyfriend is shot to death,Nena's 99 Luftbaloon or the best example Outkast's Hey Ya a song about divorce that still get played at weddings 17 years later, ironically one of the lyrics is Y'all Don't hear me y'all just wanna dance. Besides the point that part she's giving a more dark tone so she's not even singing happily lol.
I can appreciate this opening objectively, but it simply doesn't fit for the dark undertone and severity of the symphonia story. The same applies to the original symphonia. It's like putting a cheery amv over Elfen Lied. It's just off-putting.
Love this intro for years but never finished this game, Emil and Marta are sooo annoying and boring as characters! But at least we got this great song out of it.

Its just a matter of taste really, like for example i also think this is way better, but im also the guy that the dudes mentioned before me:
I love the thrumpet in the wild arms 2 it fucking bops and give a diferent feel to me than the original.
I like the first version of the song and the orchestrated.
This one... doesn't fit.
Not even peak tales ɓut cool op 5/7
I prefer the english orchestrated opening, this song doesn't match the video
+Xavier Illa This song matches more than English version. That was one thing I detested about the older Tales games, the orchestra opening songs did not fit them at all. It's supposed to sound more upbeat, like an anime.
+StormSnake0618 So 0:59-1:18 with all the happy sounding singing sounds more fitting than the serious tone of the english version? How does that even make sense? This version couldn't be any more unfitting during certain parts. Not every Tales opening needs to sound like an anime opening.
+StormSnake0618 yup this version is better than the wii version
i lkie the engish and hi kartos aurion plays
Wait, this isn't astro boy. Very SadChamp
Top 10 worst secuels of the story:
The opening is one of the few good things about this garbage xd.
I really liked it. I wouldn’t call it garbage :/
@@lowedelta Ok, it's your opinion and it's fine, in my opinion the game is trash.
