    Too many people and too much traffic
    Lived in Cary 1987-1995, apex 1995-1999 and Fuquay since 1999. Too much traffic and poor quality of people moving here

      I’ve lived all over the country (due to my husbands work) and it’s gotten like this everywhere. It’s just impossible to compare anything to the 80s or 90s.

    Lived in both Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina. If you want to run to the store quick then Holly Springs is awesome. Holly Springs also has the recycle center close. Holly Springs has yard waste pick up roadside once a week. We moved to Fuquay-Varina this year and the yard waste pick up is non existent. They even threw our bags of grass and weeds back on the street from our garbage can saying no yard waste in garbage cans…….Holly Springs for the win!!!

      Lived in Holly Springs for many years but the traffic to and from Raleigh got crazy, almost an hour commute during rush hours, with 40 minutes of that sitting on the bypass. That said I 100% agree about the yard waste. Having the chippers then suction trucks come around once a week to pick up anything on the side of the road was very nice. It's really the only thing I miss about where I live now. Just dump your yard waste on the curb, no need to bag or anything and they take it. Where I live now it has to be bagged or put in a trash can. They pick it up once a week still so not that bad but having the suction trucks just always kept it cleaner.

      I lived in Holly Springs for 3 years. The smell from the dump was horrible at times. Give me the fresh air of Fuquay any day.

      I live in fuquay and have no issues with yard waste pickup. They come back after collecting the normal trash with a different vehicle for it. You need to keep it in a seperate can from your garbage else they wont take it. Dont put it in bags either.

    I live in Holly Springs and like the location. Town size is good plus newer amenities but short travel distance to either of the two. However housing prices have jumped dramatically, so that's the down side.

    My mom was born in Apex NC in 1920. Her family owned property in Apex until the mid 20th century. By the time my mom died in 1989, my mom had no immediate family in Apex. When my mom’s family lived in Apex it was sleepy, country town and houses were inexpensive. I can’t believe how expensive things are in Apex in 2022.

      It depends where in Raleigh. Downtown Raleigh isn't so bad. Traffic is getting worse though.

  • @luperamos7307
    @luperamos7307 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow have prices gotten expensive. Sure, many people move bc they got a job offer somewhere. But people also consider where they can get a good house for a good price. And those prices seem really high. At least NC (unlike Texas) has relatively low property tax. But it's not really a great value anymore based on the prices you name.

    • @LivinginRaleighTV
      @LivinginRaleighTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Prices have gone up a lot in all 3 of these cities. They used to be very inexpensive.

    • @luperamos7307
      @luperamos7307 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LivinginRaleighTV The thing is that many Americans are homeowners and politicians want to keep their property values high. The housing crisis in 2008 drove many developers out of business and I heard developers are building even less now that interest rates have risen. Most of US society wouldn't be able to afford homes for these prices, but the limited supply maintains the demand. I live in L.A. and if you saw what garbage houses were bought for less than 100k just 20-25 years ago that is now considered prime real estate and goes for 800k plus you would be shocked. And their property tax is on the purchase price of 50k to 100k and not the adjusted value.

It’s gotten better but our favorite thing to do in hs was sit there all night. Even now I pass by and it’s still a tradition. After a football game it’d take you an hour to get ur food. Every student from holly springs Fuquay middle creek, 3 schools from each of the towns the video talked about, was there.
