This Mexican Symphonic Metal band was introduced to me by a Facebook recommendation. This is an epic "concept song" with mini-chapters and musical movements to match. If you put the story first, the structure makes perfect sense - the music is composed and arranged around it. This means that the more you familiarize yourself with the story, the more you'll like it.
As a musical listening experience however, putting the music first, it sounds jumbled. The intro is too long, droning on for a hefty 1.08, then it launches straight into the next movement which is at a furious Power Metal tempo of 16 beats to the bar, which makes for a jarring experience. The transitions between movements are like this this right through - no smoothness, because it's all about the story.
Whilst the structure isn't well thought-out, the lyrics/story is very good and the music itself is awesome! The vocals and musicianship are very good, and the movements as separate entities sound great, considerably helped by very good production.
This band has everything in place to make great music - there just needs to be more thought going into how to blend mixed tempos. As it is though, it is still worthy of your Symphonic Metal playlist. My Score: Good 3*
