- Found in a lot I purchased! As you can see the blue is very worn out of the cylinder but appears to be "okay". Not great but still a part of history and a keeper!!

Cool find! ❤
Beautiful.
Listen to that bass drop
Love Collins and Harlan. They recorded this several times. I have their Victor version.
From what I have read, in 1913, Edison tried using a cheaper dye for their celluloid. It was discontinued after these fading problems became evident. I have at least one cylinder from this period.
ah. the past. lets not repeat it.
The blue dye in the cylinder isn't worn. Edison changed the formula to save money and it resulted in one of the cylinders that you have now. I have a few. Edison always tried to think of ways to save money. Instead of rejecting these types of cylinders he instead let them slip though the cracks and sold them this way. The quality isn't great. Terrible surface noise. It's something to do with taking the chemical out of the dye in the celluloid and replacing it with water and it resulted with a poorer quality cylinder.
