You misunderstood this. Pain wants to hand out "bombs" to every Village that the 2 fighting villages can "just" destroy each other and don't harm the "bystander" villages

The reason people love this arc so much is the moral dilemma it forces Naruto into.
Up until this point the Leaf had really been the good guys but with the Itachi situation and Pain's speech that idea is challenged. And seeing how Naruto, the kid that charges into everything headfirst with all the "answers" is left with nothing to say, really solidifies the significance of the problem.

'Kill those who are warring' - You miss the point. Should those who are warring, such as Pain, be killed by Naruto then what about Pain's friends? Pains family? His village? They will strike back and Naruto would be seen as the one warring who must be taken down. Then Naruto's friends will strike back. During this conflict there will be innocent collateral who will also want vengeance and the cycle will continue. Pain's point is excruciatingly true of that world and our own.

That's what I like about Naruto's villains. They are not one-dimensional evil beings who are cruel plain and simple, everyone has their motivations to do what they do, and some have good intentions, only bad methods. Religion, money, whim, doubt, sacrifice ... Not just sadism

TBH Madara is weaker than Kaguya.
Why?
Because Madara is the same as Obito who is the same as Nagato.
There is almost no difference between those characters.
And Madara comes as the third in the row.
So for me, Madara is garbage villain because he is just recycled two villains before him.
At least Kaguya pulled of that ancient evil trope which is still more than what we've got with Madara.
That is basically almost every huge villain in anime not just Naruto
Hatesh Warkio Obito's plan was the Madara's plan, Pain's plan was to capture the 9 tails, but he was being manipulated by Obito, Obito would use the 9 tails to create the Great War and use Nagato to revive Madara with Rinne Tensei, so from the beginning the plan was of Madara. I'd argue that his logic makes sense. Granted it's not the best solution but you can find parallels to real world.
I believe that it was said once that first and second great ninja wars were somewhat of a mirror of the I and II World Wars in reality.
Now, imagine that the tailed beasts are swapped for nukes. And here's where "MAD" comes in. "Mutually Assured Destruction"
The US has used nukes twice on Japan. Since that day, there was no proper, large scale war between any of the superpowers. Only some proxy wars during Cold War and some taking place now, but no regular, large scale war.
In fact I remember hearing how XX and XXI centuries are (excluding I and II world wars) the most peaceful centuries to date.
So yeah, I think that Pain's idea on how to solve wars is not stupid. It's not good, but it would work and can be achieved. The only issue is the price to pay for doing it his way.
Honestly, Pain should have been the final villain.

The reason why Naruto didn't reply to Pain's question with "kill everybody who keeps waging wars" was because those people too have villages, friends and families (which was why Pain, after assasinating the previous leader of the Rain Village, Hanzo of the Salamander, had also killed his family, friends, and all of their associates and their families and friends). They too would seek revenge later, and the endless cycle would continue... :/
I know you're now aware of what Pain is actually trying to do, but i think even now you're a bit confused as to why people actually like Pain (i still think you'll like him after you hear his full backstory and see then end of the arc) but, people don't like him because his idea is something 'grand and new', people like him because of just how much he understands the situation in not only the Naruto world but our own as well. People like him because he's trying to achieve the very same M.A.D situation that we live in now. People like him because he realizes that the M.A.D situation won't last, no matter what type of destruction is assured (Let's be honest, our world is in the same situation, Nuclear war isn't a question of IF, it's a question of WHEN, human nature makes anything else impossible)
Pain wants a world where the M.A.D situation will keep the peace, for a while. and when it breaks, when people use the Tailed Beasts, they will experience pain, and that pain will force them to go back to the period of peace. This will continue over and over, that pain will keep humanities violent nature in check, allowing peace to exist. That is Pains plan.
(Who knows, maybe after a couple hundred years, humans will evolve to grow tiered of that pain, and that will create everlasting peace, but that's just a little weird idea of my own)
Also, i know you've probably been told this before and you may or may not realize it after you hear Pains full backstory, but Pain doesn't actually have a God complex. He puts himself forward as god to make sure that before, and after, he gives out the Tailed Beasts, people know he is *not* to be fucked with. Because after you give out such power, you really think the people you gave it to would keep you around? Nope. Hence the whole 'God' thing.

It's not that he hates religion. He hates the idea of someone claiming to be better than other people. Hence why he hates people with a God complex.
Its weird that you disagree with Pain when you say here you can't ever attain true peace. Pain's whole goal here is to obtain peace through deterrence. By having this weapon people will be too scared to wage war because of its incredible destructive ability. Its like Russia and the U.S. having nuclear weapons. They won't attack each other because of the consequences. Jiraiya believes you can truly change the hearts of people to obtain peace which is much more difficult.
Yeah I really don't think this would of deterred Zabuza, or any of the other 7 nin from causing crime or people like them, their just too crazy. I feel like people have more balls in the Naruto universe than our own. Its different when you have powers. I think Madara could take on a whole normal military base in our world.

Pain's goal was a cold war, which is not really peace. But worse, his whole speech is stupidly self-contradictory: "We have a cycle of violence, so I'm going to bring bigger weapons. Make war so much worse so that people gets terrified of war and we get MOMENTARILY peace, until people forget their fear and use the big weapons again."
He says himself that he doesn't expect his plan to work long term. It's still a cycle of violence, just that the violence is worth and the cycle longer.
Pains idea of peace is a world where everyone knows the horror of Pain so no nation will ever go to war again. Obviously it’s not in the right way but everyone would have done the same thing Pain has done. Pain went through the same thing as Naruto except it was worse for him.

It's shockingly similar to how in our world we use nuclear weapons as a guarantee of not waging wars and escalating them. Everyone is afraid of the consequences. So while it's not morally right, and it's built on fear, it does actually prevent a large scale conflict so I see where Pain is coming from here.

Before the inevitable shrieks of horror, I'll pin this post explaining that I did, indeed, misunderstand some of Pain's intentions. It's now obvious to me, thanks to you guys in the live streams, that his mission was to distribute the tailed beasts, rather than develop his own WMD. This is to create a MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) situation, thereby "forcing" peace for the time being.
I gotta admit, this might even be more sociopathic than simply looking to lord over all. :-D
To me, though, it's still just a megalomaniac with a god complex, looking to enforce his own world view by destroying those who would attempt to thwart his personal vision.
Spaz Boys Comedy I think what really separates the two ideologies, is that creating a super weapon to rule over everyone as a god would be a selfish ambition, and him wanting to give away the weapons to create his version of peace which the wants to do, wouldn't be selfish. It makes me think of how our country reacted to 9/11. The destruction that caused brought us all closer. I think that's what pain wants to accomplish
I think that's a reasonable assumption... My only problem with that is didn't he also say something basically acknowledging that the peace wouldn't last? (Knowing me, I may have misremembered that.) If that's the case, though, could it be that Pain wants them to experience the stress - and pain - of a Mutually Assured Destruction situation?
I don't know his true desires for sure, but discussing his goals and motivations certainly make this section of the arc fun and fascinating. 😊

Pain is arguably the greatest villain of Naruto, because he's actually developed as a character with complex motivations and flaws. The man is a walking talking debate about how the real world works since his peace is basically the nuclear deterrence theory. The idea that wounds grievous enough will shock the world into a state of calm out of fear of it happening again. The idea of violence solving violence is a familiar and terrifying mindset. And what's best, you can't say for sure if he's wrong or not because we have no idea how that peace will hold in the real world, and what it will lead to... since we're still in the middle of exploring the truth of that mentality and its ramifications.
THAT makes a villain interesting. The man has it all, an awesome design, one of the best themes in the series, incredible abilities, and a powerful motivation.

Well... as a fighter, absolutely. As an overall villain... Eh. He's a magnificent bastard and one hell of a threat, but his motivations aren't as compelling.

If you think about it, Rain Village (where Pain comes from) is similar to many real countries that were used by great nations like USA, URSS and England. And what motivated peace in our world was the creation of nuclear bombs, whose fear forced countries to form alliances and avoid conflict. If there were no such bombs, there would probably have been a Third World War. Pain, in fact, makes the world mature.

The only thing that has been achieved with the threat of nuclear weapons is the deterrence of mass slaughter against other nations. There is still oppression, dictatorship, mass murder, and guerrilla warfare. I wouldn't say that pain makes the world mature, but rather fear. His argument that mass murder will end hatred is extremely fallacious, it's as if Pain doesn't understand how he got into his own position. The memories of his efforts will eventually fade, as well as all of the destruction. And conflict would resume.

The one thing it seems you aren't getting is that in most wars, everything is relative. Naruto is only the hero because he is the main character. To Pain's village however, he is their hero. Yet we all see just Naruto as being in the right, even though they're both doing the same thing. The Leaf crushed Nagato's village for their version of peace, so Pain is doing the same for his version of peace. And now Naruto is trying to stop Pain for HIS version of peace. It's like Pain said, it's a vicious cycle.

He did miss what Pain was saying, though he has addressed this in the comments and other videos. But Curtis wasn't saying he "hated" God. He was talking about people who present themselves as a deity, which isn't at all the same. Granted, Pain doesn't *actually* see himself as a god but that's besides the point.

The only reason Naruto was able to destroy 5 pain bodies was because the strongest one couldn't use its full powers, once he regained that back it was game over. Oh and Pain wasn't trying to kill Naruto since he needed him alive for the tailed beast extraction.

Yeah, we actually saved Japan because of the atom bombs. They would have been willing to fight and die to the last man. Millions of lives would have been lost as all of Japan's men would die fighting or commit seppuku while the women and children would have hurled themselves off cliffs or something. The awe inspiring fear of the atom bomb's power quite literally blasted some sense into them.

You missed the point Curtis. I'm not saying Pain's actions are excused but I can see where he is coming from and understand why he is doing the thing he is doing, because in reality a lot of people would do this if they had the option. Pain said, "What about my family? My friends. My village . . ." When you see it through this man's view, he has lost A LOT. Jiryaia couldn't find the answer to ending hatred, Naruro at this point didn't have an answer. This only led Pain to believe that if they can't come up with a solution, then he will. He does have good intention but he is doing it in a horrible way. A way where giving everybody in the world pain, only then will they unite, understand each other, and then peace by being with others that feel what you feel, only pain . . . That's why pain is a good villain, he's not really doing it just because he feels like it, nor doing it because he wants to be god. Being a god is only a facade, the one that will guide people in the world of pain, a peace he envisioned.

In a flashback it is shown that it was actually yahiko who said he would become a god for the people if thats what it takes. Nagato just took over his will, i feel like he is the realest character in all of naruto. How is him inheriting yahikos will so different compared to naruto inheriting jiraijas will, and can you really critisize him that he did that over the death of his best friend? I feel like he truly wants to achieve peace and his method is the only one that has any proper chance of succeeding, if you look at what happened in world war 2. Everyone participating experienced pain together which created the peace between the parties we have right now, which might be the longest peaceful period in history (not including certain pther countries). Even the cold war, which i might not have any right to talk about since i didnt personally experience it, didn't completely escalatate because everyone knew from japans example what nuclear weapons can do and what it would mean to start a new war.

Narutos ending is actually a joke since it proves pain (not the nagato who got talk no jutsued) was right all along, everyone banding together to fight against evil thus experiencing pain together leading to a new peace. Naruro never had an answer to pains philosphy neither did jiraija or anyone else. They just fought the "bad guys" and lived happily ever after. From that point sasukes approach wouldve been for peace in the long run in my opinion, especially if you look at excuse of villains in boruto.
Pain is such an interesting character... His goals and plans remind me of Lelouch from Code Geass. Hatred and violence at such a drastic level will eventually give way to 'peace'. A mutual target creates the quickest allies.

That is one thing you fail to see, It was never meant to be a Deterrent but rather just redefining the destruction and only creating a momentary peace from the Destruction that only lasts a short period, Before the entire cycle continues. And to be completely honest, even though his plan on achieving peace has a flaw which is that's it won't last long, and i dont completely agree or would go with it, it's surely better than everyone's else's plan on achieving peace since pain has an actual plan of action. When a war ends peace isn't gonna happen. All the lives lost during the war. They had families. They had friends. Now they want to go fight you. And if they kill you spaz kid will go after them. That's the cycle of hate pain is trying to stop. He's not stopping was though war. He's stopping long term pain by causing the largest pain possible in the present.

The thing is, you have to consider pains side of the story. All the death and destruction he caused in a day, the hidden leaf and the other nations caused many times over. Right now, naruto wants revenge for what pain did, but pain is simply doing the same thing, getting revenge for what the leaf did. Pain is the monster the leaf helped create, but to the hidden rain, he is a hero for standing up for them. As far as the God complex goes, you'll find out why later, but he's not completely wrong. This is the type of situation you have to look at objectively and objectively pain is the bad guy because it's that point in the cycle of revenge.
