    Mixing gates for melodies is a great idea. Can’t believe I haven’t thought of this before. Having just ordered a bugbrand matrix mixer, you bring the excitement to the next level! 😁

      ah nice! I've really enjoyed the Bugbrand format anytime I've used it. With multiple outs on a matrix mixer you could use the same gate inputs to define multiple melodies and counter melodies. All related, all moving in different intervals.

      Yeah mixing divided gates! Makes me wonder how well I could live improvise arps this way.

      ADC like Drezno is a great source of gates for this type of application.

    Really cool idea... I will be stealing this for my DIY setup :). It always sucks to order a minimum of 5 PCBs when you realistically only need one or two of a given module, but this is the perfect solution... Make 4 or 5 small modules that combine into the one that you want. Not to mention the increased flexibility this approach adds.

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      YeahI love the expandable modular take on this. I could easily see the expansion being that you have one at the end of each row connecting up or down to the next.

      This is a great insight. Is it just me or is ganging several same modules a growing trend? Stereo strip is a perfect example.

    I wish more manufacturers would give you jumper connectors on the back like this to provide normalled connections. I would normal osc outs to a mixer, mixer to filter input, etc.

      the ability to make a semi modular out of anything. Nice idea for quick playing of a default state/patch.

    Really liking that Plucked filter sound, it reminds me of some 90's Techno.

      @DivKid  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      definitely happy to reference some 90s techno sonically at least. I'd have to watch this back to remember it though.

      @@DivKid It was in this bit with some reverb on it 07:11 Adding FX sends to basic audio mixing. And my attempt th-cam.com/video/7AVvOwWUUcc/w-d-xo.html I found that you need a good trigger for best effect, and the ADDAC Quad Gate to Trig makes them nice and precise. Though reminded me of this banger th-cam.com/video/2gn5WJ5ciUA/w-d-xo.html I'd been wondering how to create a Plucked String-like Pizz for ages and never thought to use a pinged filter.

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      ah yeah that's a good clean filter ping type thing. Yeah the input trigger makes a big difference. You can try using samples of different things too to change the the sound. Short clicks and various short percussive blips etc.
      Nice example in your patch and I get the sound you're going for now. The pizzicato string sample thing. I'd never really thought of filter pings and that sound much. But pretty interchangeable now I listen to them side by side.

    Interesting, and worth stealing… Pam’s will supply anything up to eight variable gates to mix for rhythmic and melodic enjoyment, and I have a Klavis Mixwitch doing not a lot. Thanks for the inspiration!

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was using Pam's outputs for the gates in that patch. You could set the levels o the outputs on Pam's and mix them in a unity mixer even.

    LOVE these utility vids. My 4ms VCA Matrix is still a partial mystery beyond simple VCA and mixing.
    What wonders could you reveal with this type of utility?

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      the VCA Matrix is one of those that for nearly 10 years I've sort of got close to buying and never did. I'd definitely like one, lots of potential for a range of patches.

      @@DivKid would a few flexible VCAs together replicate its features?

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A 4x4 matrix is 16 level controls and points of routing and mixing. So you'd need 16 VCAs. You would split each of your 4 signals 4 times to get into 4 separate quad VCAs. Then the output of the 4 quad VCAs are the matrix outs. Doable but not practical.
