Great review, Laura! My dusty pink high rises arrived yesterday and I‘m loving more space in the toe box (I was able to wear my ‘regular size’ because of the increased toe box space and length). Woo hoo! Thankful that feelgrounds listened to feedback and made changes/improvements.

Thanks so much and I'm so excited to hear that you got the dusty pink highrises - I nearly bought myself a pair of those!
That's so great that they fit well for you! I'm really impressed with Feelgrounds and how seriously they take customer feedback. I love that each customer can make a real difference!

I would love to get an update on the sole too. I'm eyeing the original luxe, but after owning the mesh drop top for a year now, I was disappointed how easily the sole wore out

I am very curious about these shoes, as I am on the hunt for a white court shoe for summer. I have wide feet, so these may be a better option than the Vivobarefoot Geo Court shoe.
    Definitely consider a six-month check-in video.
    Have a great week

I think white Originals might be the perfect summer shoe for you! I love the Vivo Geo Courts but they're not breathable enough for summer-wear IMO. I'd be really curious to hear what you think about whichever ones you get!

I'd love a sole durability review after over a year of having these new sole shoes!

Love the review. Have you ever worn these on a wet tile or stone floor floor at all? I just brought a pair with me on a trip and walked into a mall from outside after it rained and almost slipped. These shoes seem to have no traction on smooth wet surfaces they only seem good on wet concrete because the concrete provides traction in on perfect sunny days. They are not very safe shoes.

Thanks for the reviews. I really think your reviews on the Feelgrounds are very helpful for me as I try to decide which pair I wan to purchase. Can you give us an update that includes "caring' of the shoes? Washing, etc? Since you don't use insoles, and appear not to wear them barefoot; do the shoes get smelly at all?

Yes please tell us how the sole held up!!

I would also love a 6month/1 year update on how worn out these shoes get (both soles and outer layer). I did see your most latest update regarding the Original Luxe. I am considering either the Original Luxe from Feelgrounds or the Groundies Sydney white faux leather (vegan) ones. Seems both have issues:
    1. Feelgrounds Original Luxe - sole wearing out decently within a year?
    2. Groundies Sydney - the outer faux leather layer starts to tear and rip within a year ruining the look.

I can definitely report back! FWIW I think the knitted or luxe fabric will hold up better than the mesh. But I'll keep you posted!

Hi Laura , been searching for my first pair of barefoot shoes and loving your reviews ! Super helpful ! I was wondering if you’ve ever tried or heard anything about merrell brand barefoot shoes ?

    • @BalancingLaura
      @BalancingLaura  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey Laura! Thanks so much for the feedback - I really appreciate it! 💜 I actually hadn't heard anything about Merrell's barefoot shoes but just did a bunch of research online. From what I've seen, the reviews are positive but it doesn't look like the toe box is very wide. I talked to a customer service representative (who was super nice) and she unfortunately didn't find any info on the dimensions of the toe box. She did however tell me that the stack height is 6.5mm.
If you're new to barefoot shoes and are just starting to transition, Altras are great to start out with. They're technically not barefoot shoes but they have a wide toe box, they're zero drop, AND they have more cushion/thickness. It's a nice way to get used to the zero drop heel while still having some cushion from the ground. I'd say Feelgrounds might be a good step up from there. They've got a 5mm thickness (same as Vivobarefoot) but I think they have a little bit of a softer feel when your foot makes contact with the earth.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!

Hey Laura, have you ever tried the shoes from Amazon like WHITIN or SAGUARO or any of the others that are usually about $40? I'd like to know how they compare to Feelground or Vivobarefoot if you wouldn't mind doing a comparison. I have the WHITIN and have been satisfied with them and I don't really know if I'm really missing out or not.

Oooooh I haven't heard of these before and am interested in trying them out - thanks for bringing them to my attention! There are a few red flags for me after looking at both of these brands of shoes on Amazon. I'm wondering if they're truly zero drop based on the pictures and some of the reviews. It also looks like the quality isn't quite on par with some of the larger barefoot shoe brands, but realistically that would be difficult to do at the $40 price point. It seems like they'd be a good option if you're wanting to test the waters and see if barefoot shoes are something you're really interested in and are in the process of transitioning. But if you're wanting to ensure you're getting something that will last and are truly "barefoot," I'd upgrade to shoes from companies who specialize in barefoot shoes like Feelgrounds or Vivobarefoot. These companies also care a lot about where they source their materials, sustainability, and I know that Vivo contributes to a lot of barefoot research (which I think is SUPER cool)! While I haven't tried out these other shoes yet, I thought it might be worth sharing my initial thoughts! I hope this helps in some way! 💜

I'd definitely give them a try - especially since they've improved the sole!
