    Please highlight machinery area and engine room. Talk about access which is so important on a boat as maintenance is a way of life.

    Rational, modern, even a bit radical mechanical design and layout. But yes, not much protection from the weather. In terms of interior styling, it's modern and clean and definitely has influence from racing boats. It's understandable that some more traditional types may not like the minimalist styling. It is a bit different. It looks refreshingly clean and simple.

      Technology has moved on: no need for a staysail which makes tacking the jib difficult. 105% jib + Code 0 makes things easy and fast. A strong vang can give you most of the flexibility of a traveller with today's zero-stretch sails.

    • @drx1xym154

      IDK, you are paying for the performance - it is not an "inexpensive" 53' performance cruiser. Of course it is often not the cost of the boat, yet the cost of everything after...
      $480K Euro? as shown, $850K Euro...well that is more like it.
      Two heads, nice galley - though a proper dodger + bimini would be excellent - though I understand maybe no the best option for "performance". The carbon fiber mast and hull construction look first class.
      Those old Amels are also nice too ... yet, way more old school, cira 2000 - though even the new ones look nice - yet they are more of a cruising boat and have a very well protected center cockpit. Some day!

    I like this boat and I'm sure it'll sail well. My only major issue is the interior. It's not exactly high-end looking. It almost looks cheap and no nav station/dedicated desk is a mistake. We'll see how the design evolves. Lack of a traveler is odd, but maybe that can be addressed..
    I currently own a Beneteau 393 and plan to go bigger in a few years, so let's see what Beneteau does next.

    Very cool looking but a few observations from a designer standpoint, in such a small space I would go for sliding doors and would make an effort to eliminate all those corners. They just take up space and create a sense of clutter als stuff tends to gather in them and then you have actual clutter!

    I remember 5 years ago looking at the Sense 55 with all the ooh ah's and 5 years later it disintegrated into some 100k quality boat.
    I wouldn't buy one if it is same build quality as the Sense, in contrast a CNB Bordeaux 60 cost slightly cheaper or similar today and still looking good after more than a decade, but only time can tell.
    Hope the interior fit and finish would be better and they use some modern synthetic teak which looks good longer.
    So would you guys buy this or a used CNB 60 and save the money if you can afford the boat?

    • @eliasghosn6754
      @eliasghosn6754 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      CNB is a Beneteau company, too. Why would you think there is a difference in building materials between them? But to answer your question: I would buy this over the CNB 60 because of the sail plan and hull design.

    • @wckoek
      @wckoek 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eliasghosn6754 Step in a Sense, they are about 5-6 years old now, and compare to a CNB which is more than 10 years old, it is easy to tell the difference in build quality and durability.
      I don't know the current build quality of First 53 and the Yacht line, but for more than 600k, I wouldn't want something that only stand for like 3-4 years of use.
      Yes, it is more modern and comfortable and not too extreme, I am only commenting on the bad build quality of 2010's Beneteau, compare the Oceanis to their earlier "Clipper" line.
      I might also consider Amel 50 or Italia 50 for the price/target market.

    • @boardelia

    Great roomy interior and a credit to the designers.
    They failed in the cockpit if as you say, this is a cruisers boat not a racer. There is no comfort for the helmsman other than a "park bench" to sit on. walk all the way around the benches to walk f'ward- never happen for crew. It needs a solid canopy to fix solar panels to and proper protection from the elements if your world cruising, not a fold up Bimini as you suggest is available. this is an overpriced racer with limited creature comforts for people who will not world cruise. Sorry if that hurts Mr Beneteau, but some one has to say it. Toby won't, I don't think I have ever heard him really bag a boat design???

    I cant say that this yacht does much for me. It doesn't seem like a cruiser and it sure isn't a racer. Nor is it a performance yacht - no traveler????. the interior is nothing new. The layout is pretty poor for a 53' yacht. The second head is ridiculous with the lack of legroom by the door into the aft cabin. Overall it seems uninspired. Perhaps that explains Toby's lackluster review. Not a Beneteau hater at all. I just think they missed the mark in a major way with this model.

    You can keep it... it looks like it was built in Sweden at Ikea and it would be miserable in any sort of a blow. Looks great around the marina though... 400K in options is ridiculous.

      Steve Burton don’t forget the base price mentioned doesn’t include local taxes, the £850k figure includes 20% vat

    No traveler. On a Bennie First that’s not acceptable

    • @weprinfilms
      @weprinfilms 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. Although, I think I saw in the options list for the more hardcore version you can have a traveler. Of course this looks like the hardcore version what worth the carbon mast and all.
      In fairness, that heavy vang probably gives you most of what a traveler would do.

    I guess they went for sailing equipment instead of interior quality. A nice weekend cruiser for the Med, for a few years. Zero thought about liveaboards that want to cross oceans.

    • @samcooper5748

      Beneteau have another company that caters for live aboard needs, it’s called Lagoon. The live aboard market is tiny in the overall market place

      Different people prepared to live aboard different boats. People forget this boat comes from a country that runs a race across the Atlantic in 21ft boat...
      Some people live in a house that is full of stuff and furniture, others live in a house that is modern, minimal and with large open spaces

      what is it with you cruiserfolk that you can never appreciate a boat for what it is designed for...it's like looking at a ferrari and complaining that you can't take it off road...

      Yep exactly. Like a cheaper copy of the Sean 48. I actually discovered the new swan 48 after looking at this first 53 and said “oh that’s more like it!”
      I’ve really got my eye on the Swan 48 for a new charter business.
