    I'm running the Pertronics vacuum advance on a set of your custom Kadrons and it ran sooooo smooth. Makes so much sense that you guys help them develop it and it shows when running them side by side on Kaddies. They have great customer service and warranty to boot! Win win right here!

    Can you do a video on the fuel pumps you sell?
    Which one is best for what engine(i have a stock 1600cc with the petronix 3) ?
    Do they all need a pressure regular?
    If you have an electric fuel pump and you have ur ignition on but are not running the car, will it flood the engine?
    Etc...

    I don't know how to send a direct message. I have a couple of questions. Will the larger billet distributor fit in a center single carb engine? What are the advantages to this style?

  • @robertparton6705
    @robertparton6705 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dwell angle is the amount of time that the contact points are in the closed position, this is to allow the coil to change between firing intervals .

    New to the VW Bug world, but I'm in Deep with 5 bugs plus two on the way. Greenie is up and running, needs interior and Whitey is my current daily driver, one is ready for primer, but the others need intense prayer and sandblasting. Greenie could def benefit from electronic ignition (all could prob). So, what are the prices on your pertronix line-up, is it worth the $ to upgrade from 2 to 3? Daily drivers vs track dude.

    I would just like to add my comment can forward it to the man who made this video I'm very impressed because you put it in a way that most people can understand I have a vacuum advance distributor problem that you answered pertronix is somewhat of a mystery when it comes to the timing of their vacuum advance oo9 distributor but after talking to tech support and finding out that I had a burnout module I found the problem but I still see that the lag that I always thought was in my carburetor was due to the double of nine mechanical advance so thank you for answering all these questions 4 dub heads

    You are wrong when you say there's no advantages with points. There are several advantages.
    Number one. If your alternator fails you can run on points with just your battery power all day long. (Depemding on how much coil you have )Which means if your alternator goes out in your away from home you'll probably make it home before the ignition conks out.
    Number two. If you are troubleshooting the ignition system it's a lot easier to do it with points. You can play with it and know if it's the coil or not. With electronic ignition you never know for sure in the field. you start swapping out stuff unless you have equipment with you.
    Number three. You're building up a new engine you can static time it by setting your #1 cylinder to top dead center and rotating the distributor till your homemade timing light comes on. You are in time. Not so easy with electronic ignition.
    All these factors come seem to come most handy when you're offroad also. Instead of buying an extra electronic ignition system to swap stuff out is the heck of a lot easier to grab an old coil condenser and set of points and throw in your emergency box.
    Oh, of course of that factor again of your alternator going out and you're out in the middle of the Woods you don't have to worry about your voltage dropping down past 10 volts. ( which it's goung to do rather quickly with EI ) Points will run down to sometimes as low as 4 volts.
    Last but not least. You just built an engine. Now you have to kind of guess where it's going to light off the number one cylinder. So you start it up, in twisterung the distributor back and forth till it fires up.
    So there is a bunch of advantages to Good Old points. Keep note I am not arguing that electronic ignition doesn't have a whole bunch of advantages. But if you don't have money to carry a spare hot coil and a spare electronic system. And you're headed out in the woods or desert miles away from everybody you might just want to throw in an old point system for backup. It'll can get you home if your alternator fails, or if you need to hotwire for whatever reason. (Hooked wiring on a stob. - Guilty) In fact points could be the difference between life and death in a desert situation.

      @ICU2HI 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't stand adjusting the points but you make a good point, great points actually. I will keep that ol' 009 just incase! (as backup of course)

    • @doginu
      @doginu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should stay out of the Woods and Desert. 90% of the electronic ignitions go out from incorrect wires on the coil. Pull the dist with a 13mm, install ignition, replace dist. Good luck with that Alternator, Generator will keep running with a dead battery. keep a set of points and condenser in car.

    Had nothing but issues with these modules. They burn out way too often. Always had to carry a points dizzy just in case , witch I've had to do twice. Not a bad system,but remember , this guy is trying to sell a product he sells.... And they ain't cheap...
