I know I said that I the Native American Historian would stop posting but I just heard the song "Shambulia!" THIS SONG is completely in SWAHILI!!!! I don't want anyone to ever say Genshin is racist ever again! The people of Natlan may have Native American Latin culture BUT they speak Swahili! From living in Kenya as a kid Kusema KiSwahili myself. It's a beautiful language. Yes Natlan's song is in SWAHILI. I'm soooo happy! Kenya meets Mexico?!? It's like someone reached into my past and said, hey this is a cool mix let's put it in Teyvat! This is going to be AMAZING! Well last post...I think but sijui. One final time from the Native American Historian! They just dropped the big Natlan reveal and there IS an African element after all but SURPRISE it's East Africa. There's a gigantic veldt with migrating gazelles and Saurians plus Teyvat's version of a baobab tree. I actually lived in Nanyuki, Kenya for a summer as a kid (my family was considering moving to Kenya to teach.) They did a great job and surprised us all! Ok for everyone who was worried. Africa IS there but it's more like East Africa than West Africa. There's even a resort that looks like someplace you'd find along the Kenyan/Tanzanian coast! Teyvat and Tanzania plus getting Kachina so I can ride around with her twirly on the veldt!? Hopis Aztecs meeting the Maasai on the Serengeti?! This expansion is going to be amazing!
Speaking of husbandos, we should be seeing Grand Master Varka soon.

Hi Zepla! Native American historian here again! Looks like I was right about Kachina and the Blue Dolphin girl, only in Genshin her power animal is a shark. You've definitely got a female Jaguar Knight here too! There were Jaguar Knights, Eagle Knights and elite Flaming Coyote Warriors in Mexica (Aztec) and Tlaxcalan culture. Note it's Mexica. Mexican derives from Mexica. Maybe the Archon is a Flaming Coyote Warrior? Her iconography sure looks like one. It looks like Capitano, despite his Spanish/Italian name, is a fusion of a Spanish Conquistador and the mesoamerican Lord of the dead Mictlantecuhtli. The Husbando definitely looks like the Mayan bat God Camazotz! The tournament is the Sacred Ball Game: Nahuatl: Ōllamalitzli or Tlachtli. Yucatec Mayan: pokolpok. Modern Spanish: Juego de Pelota. In ancient times the losers of pokolpok were sacrificed by the Mayas. The Aztecs, although they practiced massive human sacrifice didn't use it with the ball game. Tlachtli was a sport for them. Rather than sacrifice humans the Aztec bet tons of cacao beans and gold on the sport, sometimes going bankrupt in the process! It was tied into this big complex myth about the 400 Huitznauhah. iirc for Kachina you said she reminded you of the Badger Kachina? I think that definitely could be an inspiration, but the actual animal she's based on seems to be the American pika (confirmed by her VA, and her constellation name is the binomen Ochotona princeps)

Its just a regional overview trailer, not a version trailer. We had a similar one in Fontaine.
