Do you have to remove all the old soil from the roots before repotting? My ficus microcarpa is very weak and the soil was very firm around the roots, so I didn't want to stress it any further by messing with the roots too much and left some of the old soil clumped around them.
If the tree is already weak it is probably the best idea to not go to harshly on the roots. However, also keep on mind that the wrong soil could play a part in the health of the tree, so removing it might benefit the tree in the long run.
@@ThatBonsaiGuy Ok, thank you. My little tree is so weak I'm not sure it will survive anything at this point, but I had to give it a try. It just seemed too aggressive to dig into his roots like that.
