This song is so beautiful! I played it at my wedding reception to my wife as we danced slowly to it together. Such beautiful memories! Thank you Peter for performing such a beautiful song!
If you can listen to this song without getting teary-eyed, you've got a heart made of stone. My parents don't know it, but this song is going to be the background music for a montage of pictures of them over the years when we have a party for them for their upcoming 55th anniversary.
On December 24, 2013 I asked my girlfriend at the time if she would marry me, this song was playing in the background. This year we are celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary! The best question I've ever asked!
Came here because Neil Gaiman choose this song to the Aziraphale and Crowley playlist, and now I'm hoping and dreaming about a romantic scene with both.
I dedicate this song to my now wife. Today is our anniversary. Last month she asked me to sign papers invalidating the love she promised me until I died. I wanted forever and she wanted forever too, just not with me. I’ve finally accepted it and this song was the only thing going through my head today. I Love you Rach. While the music dies, I hope you’ve found the happiness I was keeping you from. I’ll love you until the sun doesn’t rise anymore.
I've never been able to listen to this song without bursting into tears because of how simple and beautiful it is. I thought of it just now and said to myself, it can't happen EVERY time can it? So I clicked play. And held it together until partway through the last verse...tears.
Me too! I saw the Craig and Tweek episode of South Park the other day and loved it - and love this song. Because of South Park, I now have another song I absolutely love.
Those last 10 minutes broke my soul. I was basically non stop crying from the minute he saw the girl who died of a cocaine overdose. Yes, I'm a tad over-emotional. It was a well done finale
Gänsehaut Und einer der schönsten Momente als ich diesen Song gemeinsam mit meinem Lieblingsmenschen hörte.Pures Glück.Das Lied ist moch da- der Mann nicht mehr..
I miss my ex fiancé so much. This song is so beautiful. I remember singing this to her once. I hope she remembers this song, because I loved her so much.
Rik Polanski It really is. You could really tell the writers and actors were passionate about the world and characters they had created, and that final scene... makes me tear up ever time. Then the finish it up with the most perfect part.. you know what I mean. When JD walks out to his car, and the acoustic version of Superman plays. I have never seen a more graceful and satisfying end to an era in my life.
“Sticking to one person for a lifetime is not a waste of time or lack of better ones, it means you've found your place of eternity.” Michael Bassey Johnson . . . . . . Thank You for Loving Me, Amen, Will
This is one of the best songs, it really is. I’ve lost a few people in my life and listening to this somehow brings me comfort. This song will never get old ❤❤❤ Love to anyone struggling out there. My dad always use to say to me “ things will always work out in the end, your strong promise “ and I trust him. ❤❤❤
Just finished Season 8 finale of Scrubs, this song was a perfect selection. The last two scenes where J.D. is walking down the hall and everyone that made an impact on J.D.'s life is there and when he's imagining/watching his future made me tear up to be honest. It was an amazing trip to take with the characters, an emotional rollerco... ride, if I may. Water work really started to flow during the credits when they're showing the behind the scenes of everyone's last shot of the show. The perfect ending.
+Paramjit Atwal I honestly never saw a better ending... Scrubs somehow means so much to me, i guess because im just like JD ^^ I saw every season at least 4 times and im still not fed up
+Anthony James i'm glad the episode turned out the way it did because as crazy as the world is (be it straight crazy or gay crazy), even though Tweek and Craig were pegged together due to the craziness of others, they learned to fight through the crap that surrounded them, and Craig was able to inspire Tweek to be more than just a coffee drinking tweeker. We saw more character development between these two guys than most movies try to develop in a 2 hour time frame. We got a beginning, middle, and end. We saw the crap, we saw their struggle, we had a song, we saw a fight, we saw redemption, we saw compassion, and we saw unity through brotherhood. In the end, it wasn't about their sexuality or how the rest of the town saw their relationships. It was about two guys coming together and overcoming and shared disaster. They bonded in the end and became good friends, and in life, good friends are so hard to find. Craig was no longer the middle finger giving prick and Tweek wasn't a coffee junkie. Their ending was absolutely beautiful.
I never understood what getting "hit in the feels" truly meant. Is it this? My heart wants to explode and I want to cry, I want to smile.. goddamnit. I love this song.
I just proposed to my long time girlfriend and mother of my baby daughter to this song. I didn't plan to have music playing initially, but I remembered this song and boy did I choose right.
@Tommy Walker nothing to congratulate for... But thank you. I just know that in my future I will dance with someone I love at my wedding to this song....whether thats in 1,10,30 years I don't care I just know it can happen
miss rose fuck im a guy and single pretty much atm, and my future wife will either accept this song on our wedding day or the bitch will go up to the altar and straight past it, cause ill kick her to the curb...its too good and too true and too perfect not to be accepted on a perfect day
I rediscovered this song today, getting married in about 8 months, and I might do the same as your wife :) Getting teary thinking of walking down to aisle to my fiance just sitting here at home listening to it. It's downright beautiful. It also was in "Shall We Dance" that shows the ups and downs of being married for many years. Enduring, understanding, forgiving, and never-ending love was a theme, and I think this song wrapped it up so well.
For me,this is what love is about. I often come off as a sour person, and I'm generally not fond of people. Suffice to say,I used to mock people for acting like a couple would, all the "its the little things" speech, that seemed all too ridiculous for me... But then I met her,a woman who wanted to spend a life at my side since the first day.She carved through all of my barriers ,and showed me what true love is. What a true act of love is to just spend a day toghether or to do things old married couples do like going for a stroll in the park... In the end,i was the one who got mocked, who got proved wrong about love and who got defeated in all my stubborness, but I don't dislike it one bit.All the stupid, boring and everyday things that I would do without a second thought, they become the whole world when she does them to me,or when we do them together. My firstborn will come to this world in two months, and I'm just so damn excited to build my own family next to the woman I love, the one that makes all my world seem right, who makes me strive to be the better man she needs me to be...I just can't wait. In the end, this is what true love is about.
That's what love. Love is powerful, love is full life and magic and poetry because you've change. Eventually, you too will grow old and you will remember everything you did for her! Look at me, I never had a relationship for many years and yet I'm turning 34 years old this year, still very young like a kid, very small loving guy. I hope and pray you too getting along well, hold her tight gently, slowly, and cast away all your hate. Be a better person a loving husband and wife 🙂💟
+Social Renegades i miss the years when South Park was all about profanity , racism, sexism and full of toilet humor. it became pretty preachy and more "story lined" than it was before.
It's intriguing that a song that was originally quite sarcastic and lo-fi can be transformed by a different performance and arrangement into something that hits quite a different emotional spot.
I first heared this master piece back in 2012 when I was in my first year at the Nnamdi Azikiwe university, in my home country of Nigeria. This is June 2023 and it remains one my favorites songs of all time.
This is our song. My spouse and I love it so much and this video in particular. We have been married 42 years and really relate to all the images shown here. Thanks again.
32 years ago I married, I was young, just 19. Very few people have had this privilege, of having someone always there. Sometimes not in the exact spots we want , sometimes in the wrong spots, but always there. We have grown up together, we have changed a lot. There has been yelling, tears, worry. But if you get the chance, stay with that person, and you too can cry when sappy songs like this come on because you know how lucky you are.
After Peter Gabriel was born, the mold was broken. Only one of his kind. Artistic, thoughtful, compassionate, he delivers his work with humility. Contemporary musicians don't hold a candle to him.
I found this interpretation for this song to be the best one The point of this song is to show that love is not rational. The "book of love is long and boring". If love were a book, say a textbook, it's a deep, complicated subject and reading about it would be long and it would be boring. In fact it's too complicated, it's too heavy, so much so that "no one can lift the damn thing". And it's tedious to talk or read about it. The best analogy for tediousness is the book would have to be "full of charts and facts and figures". And even more ludicrously, it has "instructions for dancing", as if you could learn how to dance by just reading about it! You kinda have to do it to learn it, just like you do for love -- you learn about love by being in love. But who cares about the "book"? All I know is that when I'm in love, I love everything you do, even you read me a stupidly long and boring book about love! So read what you want to me, even charts and facts and figures, and I will love it. And the book has music in it. Again, some of it is fantastic and some not, but as long as you're singing it to me, I will love it. Love is irrational, as long as you're with me and no matter what we're doing together, I'll love it and I'll love you. And the book has things in it that are nearly incomprehensible, that even the oldest and wisest of us, are "all too young to know." Love is too complicated for even the smartest of us, no matter how many years of learning about it and thinking about it that we do, we'll always be "too young." Love is unknowable, how can there be a damn book about it?! And finally, since I love you as much as I do, hmmm. well, -- ahem. Just a thought here! I'm just too shy to say... Well here goes anyway: You should give me a wedding ring. Or better yet shower me with wedding rings! And you know I'll love it when you buy me a ring because "I love it when you give me things". Marry me. Even though I have a cynical edge and that I think that the book of love is long and boring, marry me anyway. It's a crazy thought that we are in love, because it is all irrational but marry me anyway.
My wife would sing this when we where dating, I proposed to her to this song, and it was the song we had our first dance to as a married couple, she died a year ago, I haven't wanted to hear it for a while, as it still makes me feel sad, but I just want to hold her, I miss her so much,
Listening to this on loop. thank you Carel Mendoza.
pretty sure she's besides you.
when time will come you'll be besides her. good times are always too short, but isn't it what makes them good?
Aww.. Don't worry, friend! She'll always and forever be by your side! :)
Always in your heart.

Me too! I saw the Craig and Tweek episode of South Park the other day and loved it - and love this song. Because of South Park, I now have another song I absolutely love.
ɷ I Haveee Watched Thisss Movie Leakedddd Versionnn Hereeee : - t.co/e6QlTccFx6
It was the ending for Scrubs, made a really awesome closing scene which highlighted what's to become of J.D and Elliot.
the most beautiful love song I've ever heard
"Shall we dance mister Clark?" - anybody remember this? :)
Yes🥺
I saw this masterpiece again today afternoon but I can't even count how many times I saw it.
🥺🥺yesss

Everyone is talking about scrubs and I'm like what
I like how they were just friends that finally realized they could love each other too
I literally can't hear this without crying ❤️

I actually cried watching Southpark, fuck sake

I wanted to, I really did?
I guess I am a heartless man who's made of stone?
same

+dylan w So did i, glad i was not the only one.
Still one of the most beautiful songs I know. 2023.
"The book of love has music in it, in fact that's where music comes from."
Why you gotta do me like that?
I definitely want this as my wedding song
my wedding day just started. and this is our first dance song. just few hours ...
Craig x Tweek FOREVER
*not canon.*
@@TerminatorTheory VERY canon actually.
Just finished rewatching Scrubs. Now I'm super sad-happy... This song and the last scene were a huge part of that.
Those last 10 minutes broke my soul. I was basically non stop crying from the minute he saw the girl who died of a cocaine overdose. Yes, I'm a tad over-emotional. It was a well done finale
Abigail Carroll would have been nice if John Ritter was still alive for that goodbye memory.
She died of Rabies, and they lost 3 patients because of this. Very sad episode.
Eduardo Scharf That's right!
I know, right. That was an awesome series finale! :)
Scrubs brought me here.. That last episode makes me cry to this day..
best end ever!
I have never seen a more graceful and satisfying end to an era in my life.
same here :)
Every time I watch that episode I get goosebumps, it is by far the best series finale of any show.
i think this song makes everyone Cry

Beautiful what you wrote!!!
Beautiful!!!
A song about the deep love that people who have loved each other for many many years. Such a pure, beautiful song. 34 years in my case.
I blame South Park for blowing my mind with this song... so beautiful, I literally cried. lol.
This is one of the best songs, it really is.
I’ve lost a few people in my life and listening to this somehow brings me comfort.
This song will never get old ❤❤❤
Love to anyone struggling out there.
My dad always use to say to me
“ things will always work out in the end, your strong promise “ and I trust him.
Scrubs somehow means so much to me, i guess because im just like JD ^^ I saw every season at least 4 times and im still not fed up
+Menni I agree. Ive a very lively imagination and an I for the small things in daily life. Just like JD.
Season 8 finale. Don't you mean, "series finale?" Season 9 never existed.

Cutest episode of South Park ever! even though in the end they just became good friends :3
+kyoko703 詩人的な分析に感動させられざるを得ないです。 ありがとうございます。
+kyoko703 that was beautiful :^)
Actually they ARE gay. It was confirmed by a few official South Park accounts
+somethingtodowithcat citation, please.
I can't help but cry from happiness listening to this song, thank you Tweek and Craig you touched my heart. 💙💛
Thanks Craig and Tweek u touched a fangirls heart i love ye
This is a real damn love song. 😍
Stephin Merritt captured something special in this 3 minute song. I've never heard a more beautiful and intense song than this..
Am I the only one who can't listen to this song without crying
Not alone 💕💕
I highly doubt it my man
No, but only recently they've been tears of joy
@Tommy Walker nothing to congratulate for... But thank you. I just know that in my future I will dance with someone I love at my wedding to this song....whether thats in 1,10,30 years I don't care I just know it can happen
So the tears are kinda..... Hope for a better future
I don't have a boyfriend or anything but I already know this will be my 'first dance' wedding song with my husband in the future, whoever he may be.
This is gonna be my Wedding song and my funeral song. Fit perfectly.
Mine too, because I will mary you
miss rose It was my first dance at my wedding, trust me, that was magical... And Kenny, my funeral'll be Radiohead "street spirit"
miss rose fuck im a guy and single pretty much atm, and my future wife will either accept this song on our wedding day or the bitch will go up to the altar and straight past it, cause ill kick her to the curb...its too good and too true and too perfect not to be accepted on a perfect day
miss rose thats just about the most romantic thing i ever heard
This is the song my wife walked down the isle to. A moment for ever ingrained in my mind. =)
It must have been a beautiful moment.
I first heard this melody in film - ,Shall we dance". Beautiful... I love this
Why am I crying?
@Gaymar Gaylord Gay no u
Because U have a good heart
Because of this beautiful song
@Gaymar Gaylord Gay bruh shut up man
Love this ong always brings me tears of Joy as I am blessed to beon love and married for over 31 years now
+Mary Lattari WOW! You are truly blessed.
was it ruined by south park?
Listening to this, i now know why I am here: to someday find her so we can grow old together.
This song never gets old ❤ one of the most beautiful ever written
I can't believe they played this song on South Park lol
+Social Renegades That was disgusting serie, but very funny :D
+medashen09 why disgusting? I think this seasons been pretty tame compared to previous with people crapping out there mouths and that.
+Social Renegades i think its the best season yet
+Social Renegades i miss the years when South Park was all about profanity , racism, sexism and full of toilet humor. it became pretty preachy and more "story lined" than it was before.
+tomphson gun
Agreed!
Bringt mir bis heute immer wieder ein Tränchen ins Auge. Großartig :'(
Hey, du hier

Oh ja mir auch😭
Everytime I watch this in Scrubs finale it gets me
32 years ago I married, I was young, just 19.
Wow. If this doesn't bring a tear to your eye then nothing will. A lovely song full of emotion. Love it...
I never knew Peter Gabriel covered this until today. I've been a Magnetic Fields fan since 1995 or so.
I want this to be my "Walk down the isle song"
After Peter Gabriel was born, the mold was broken. Only one of his kind. Artistic, thoughtful, compassionate, he delivers his work with humility. Contemporary musicians don't hold a candle to him.
I haven't heard this in a long while ... moved me to tears, again
I found this interpretation for this song to be the best one
The point of this song is to show that love is not rational.
As if I wasn't crying already this made me cry even more! It's the truth!
+more2me100 it's a beautiful song as long as you know how to interpret it...
Instructions for dancing makes me think of one of the most romantic songs of all by Steve Goodman... th-cam.com/video/vmyCvSj8DrM/w-d-xo.html
enrique saturno you explained this song beautifully...thank you
Yep
Tweek and Craig, still a more beautiful love story than Twilight.
*at least Twilight is canon*
@@TerminatorTheory so is creek
Beautiful song, beautiful meaning. I wish we all experience true deep love.
Beautifully captures the nature of love itself. Love can’t be display or written, it can only be felt.
Perfectly said 👏
