I have been watching PlanesTV live feed all day and i can say THIS VIDEO is by far much better! the cameraman working the long zoom camera at planes tv made me feel sick!! Way to many closeups and all over the places panning! Very well done Elwyn!
Great filming again, Elwyn. Nice to get a flavour of the event without having to endure the queues getting in and out of the show! Things are clearly different now, post-Shoreham, and it's good that the RIAT event has been little affected by the new flying display operating rules, unlike at many other venues. I was at Duxford a week ago and to avoid flying over the M11 and Duxford village the displays took place in the south west corner, all rather unsatisfactory from a spectator's point of view but understandable after what happened at Shoreham!
Great video, really good panning. I saw this on Saturday and it was easily my favourite, so raw. I also agree with the comment earlier that the little Spartan was just fantastic barrel rolling away. Thanks for a fab video.
Yes, my first show but saw the static display of this next to the F16's and euro fighter and thought Wow, this is big. Luckily for a novice the paint scheme stands out.
@mark seax: Spartan performed the same program I have seen it doing in 2006. Also, sad that the Flanker had to do the "low" display due to the clouds, saw it too, first time in 1998, and yes, it was a monster. It is huge. I guess it performed at RIAT with 15-20% fuel only.
Yeah real shame about the Flanker only doing a 'flat' display. One of my favourite fast jet demos I've seen. Saw it static and couldn't believe the size compared to the Rafale/Gripen/Typhoon etc. Nothing tops the MiG-29 OVT I saw at Farnborough in 2006 though. Hoping to get to some more air shows in Europe next year as I've only ever done UK ones so far.
Great video Elwyn, thanks for sharing this. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this big jet squeezing the moisture out of the air during the high energy portions of the display. There's little doubt that the Flanker is a potent aircraft.
Those Sukhoi and Mikoyan engineers developed some pretty badass aerodynamics back in the day. Although a lot of the initial design was adopted from the Big Cat 😬
I love this aircraft. Standing next to one it is rough and ready. Utilitarian in nature yet sophisticated enough to get the job done in the worst of conditions. Unimproved runways, gravel roads, even grass strips are not an issue with this aircraft. This bird can operate out of places that would ground an American aircraft. Price is right too. 15 of these can be produced for the price of just one of our comparable aircraft. Not including the billions of R/D we put into them. Just face value.

Display teams and pilots prepare and train two programs: for good an bad weather. They perform one or the other depending on the conditions, this was obviously the second one because, as you said, there are no vertical maneuvers.
great vid was good to see a rare sight at airshows very impressive and cheered up what was a bit of a poor riat really yesterday due to weather and various rules and regs etc but as they say shit happens the reds and tbirds limited displays and not even getting to see the midnight hawks having to land due to conditions and nothing at all from the typhoon f18 and a couple more only taxi passes due to weather, but one thing i do want to say is i know the weather is the weather but to have the red arrows tbird joint fly past on friday and the B2 flypast today i feel robbed going yesterday as these events events happen once a year and some aircraft you only see 1 or 2 times in a generation, i just think things like that should be on all three or two main days or not at all i guess i am just bitter i missed out but i am gutted about the b2
Ukrainian takeoff was emazing!!! Cool!!! I've seen their landing, it was very beautifull, but takeoff was more creazy. I wish their army to overcome the Russian agression. Moreover I fully convinced that they will do it.
It was a cloudy day. They didn't do any vertical maneuvers because they'd be above the clouds immediately, and thus nobody would be able to see anything what so ever. At least they still flew, unlike the F-22 that didn't fly "due to weather".
F-22 doesn't really do or have a low show routine. But i guess by looking at my liked videos you thought that pop-shot would make me upset? My point still stands, it would've been a boring display with or without vertical maneuvers. For being touted as the "best fighter ever" even the horizontal turns aren't that impressive.

Was there and this was an absolute monster. This, Couteau Delta and the Rafale were my top 3 displays.
