Hey Petko! Just a thought. The fly trap probably won't do great long term in the standard soil mix, might be worth replanting in its original soil or making a spot in the substrate layer with flytrap appropriate soil :) might be totally wrong but fly traps tend to really struggle without their specific soil types because of their nutrient requirements. I don't mean to be negative just a thought because I think it could work just closer to the water in boggier appropriate soil :)
Just a heads up, over the years your Dionaea might start to decline or die. They not tropical plants (they're native to North Carolina in the US) so they tend to want a dormancy period triggered by slightly lower temps and fewer hours of light. It's not a hard and fast rule of course. There are plenty of people who keep them for a few years without dormancy, though from what I've heard it tends to affect their growth pattern and they also have smaller traps.
Hey Petko. The flytrap will die 99% of the time. It does not tolerate lime water, does not tolerate as many nutrients as the other plants and it needs a frosty winter. But, give it a try. Fingers crossed 🤞 Best regards from Germany
@@cxaxukluth5432 Correct. But too many nutrients are also deadly to Nepenthes, and lime water isn't the best either. In a separate pot, Nepenthes would explode. But then, of course, in carnivorous soil or peat etc. and Osmosis water, rainwater, distilled water. Tap water is not the best for the most carnivorous plants.
@@MajgnikuguluggeBamsidarub That's not what it's about. There are too many nutrients in the soil and the roots will "burn" and the plant will die. In addition, the pH value in the substrate will be too high. Carnivores want it more acidic. So, little to almost no nutrients (fertilizer) in the soil and a low pH in the soil/water (no lime).
Most carnivorous plants thrive in poor, acidic soils, and can only take rain/demineralised water. Pretty sure it won't survive. Not sure if they'd require a 'winter rest' in a controlled environment terrarium with strong grow lights. Well if they survive the inadequate soil, I guess we'll know how they do without it after a year or 2.

Pitcher plants evolved to eat insects because of very poor soil conditions. If the soil around the plants gets too rich from the insect poop the pitcher plants might start to struggle. Save with the Venus fly trap. I recommend a very rocky substrate.
The junglearium is amazing! So much growth in just a short time. I think it would be cool to make a time lapse video of its evolution from empty space to total growth (maybe when the walls are all covered with the plants). Also, duckies! 🥰
IIRC: carnivorous plants evolved to be carnivorous because of the environment they come from is very wet and low in nutritionous soil. So in order to get nutrients, they catch insects instead! Now, when you put your carnivorous plant in a nutrient-Rich environment like the junglearium it might not do well because of the amount of nutrients it would get from the soil. Just my theory!
I absolutely love the growth since day one. It's definitely an inspirational cage setup for how to keep animals in such a natural way. One day, I'd love to create my own!!!👏👏👏🔥🫡
Hello Petko, im curious how will Dionea grow in Jungalerium. This kind of setup is better for Pitcher plants. Dionea is not tropical plant and dont need/love so much humid air - (it is better to grow her in greenhouse or outside - he love cooler temperatures at winter) . And i think he will not have enough light at bottom of junglearium. Please don't take this as criticism, its just my experience s from growing Carnivorous Plants. I wish you happy growing with her in this conditions.
@@TheDarkDen the soil is the key . I lived where these are native in the US and everyone has issues reproducing the soil. It can be done don't let the nay sayers stop you. But you will have to augment soil around it for it to thrive

Your mysterious spreading plants might be reproducing via spores. Many primitive plants like ferns, mosses and lichens don't use seeds, but instead broadcast spores similar to fungus. Aiming your misting system so it doesn't hit that wall directly [and thus wash away the spores] or adding a rougher texture [giving the spores more places to settle] could encourage their spread.
Didn't the males of those millipedes look completely different? Maybe I'm confused with a beetle species that looks like a millepede... Will the crabs get along with the frogs?
@@TheDarkDen I thinking more along the lines that the crabs will eat the frogs, space or no space. Another youtuber has vampire crabs and geckos and i think he mentioned that the crabs sometimes caught the newly hatched ones but they breed so much and the adult ones were fast and bigger so it wasn't an issue. There frogs aren't fast or skittish enough when compared to geckos. Without the poison they are literally defenseless. All i'm saying is maybe check if anybody has kept the two together before.
@@TheDarkDen I was just wondering because leaf insects, for example, have much stronger, incomparable colors in the wild than in captivity, and sunlight/UV could be maybe the reason for that
they do! UVB is really beneficial for every animal, especially reptiles, and their colors tend to flare up when exposed to the sun. Plants also tend to look prettier with UVB, especially the ones with redish colouration, who might even become all green with not enough light.
hello, this is one of the, whait no, this is the best jangularium ever created, with majestic different plant species, I love the idea to add carnivoros plats, just saying, If the plants in the jangularium is growing like craze, it mean that the jangularium is perfect. And can you please make a list of all plant species you used on the jangularium, because I am doing a school project, and I choose to create a jangularium like yours. Thank you
Hi Petko, long fan and decided to ask my first question, as i followed you with your build of the junglelarium and the add of the new lights, i always questioned if then you couldnt make that the lights would follow a time also, starting abit more on left side fight with the middle and right being abit more dim, then near mid day the middle light being more bright and the others also and so on towards the day, since the plants would position themselfs where they get more light, wouldnt that make it that other plants would have a chance to get some during a part of the day?
Why do you not have any orchids? They are similiar to the plants on your wall. They enjoy wet environments but hate growing in soil. They want to attach to tree trunks and or rocks
I'm sorry if I missed the answer to this question already but... what happened to the Arboreal Tarantula that was somewhere in the Junglearium? It has matured and grown so beautifully!
Seems like a lot of research needs to be done to keep the enclosure as peaceful as possible. I think the reason that you can see the animals outside so much is that there are no predators. The ones that don't get eaten don't really hide.
Petko, I think I could sit for HOURS and look at the junglearium! It's absolutely gorgeous! I hope you found Vampire crabs!

Agree. Nepenthes pitcher plants would’ve been a better choice for a carnivorous plant, they tolerate minerals much better than flytraps.

I think the flytrap survives, it has expensive frogs and insects as food.

Vraiment super beau, le rendu final est extraordinaire on se croirait vraiment dans une mini--jungle...Bravo :)
wouldn't bigger pitcher plants become dangerous to small geckos and frogs? And the fly trap be dangerous for isopods and other insects?
Petko, just a reminder, seedlings growing on the wall will eventually damage the foundation as the roots grow further into it.
I love seeing the environment creating its own area. You have done a great job Petko

I won't add anything that will be able eat them
@TheDarkDen have you been watching Ants Canada? It's good but a bit to theatrical for me and nowhere near as good as your videos 💯👍
Hello great video information and updates Petcko
This is looking so awesome!!!
I am loving these updates :D looking forward to what happens in the future
When you do your spring cleaning you should sell me some of the creeping plants from the background :D
Watch out, the fly trap will attract and eat mourning baby geckos
The plant you put in Needs it more moist, i would plant it close to the water
100% agree
The substrate is really moist even on that side, trust me
