I love these performances. Hats off to the first singer, musician or dancer who starts them off - they must be hoping everyone else joins in and doesn't leave them hanging.
Zartam7 He was being sarcastic. Regardless, though, they shouldn't present this as if it were totally random and amazing if it was pre-planned, as it obviously was.
Nicely done. But I am stunned at the number of people who didn't pause to appreciate (or at least acknowledge) the performance taking place. This is happening in Mansfield, OH -- not Times Square. How often do these shoppers get to see something like this? What could be so urgent that some would walk right by the singers and into Macy's? I'm guessing maybe a sale on Duck Dynasty t-shirts. Thank you, TheBarts1992, for posting this.
I agree...shoppers just walking past ignoring what was going on, with little kids no less. That would have been a perfect teaching moment for the arts and music appreciation.
It can probably be attributed to the fact that we the people are too busy being consumers in this Capitalist society. We can't even stop a moment of our shopping to enjoy the moment of music and performance. It's what I call the bystander effect. If I were there I would enjoy every minute of it.
Some people are buzzkilljoys who are actually annoyed by such performances. (It’s really because they’re jealous that they can’t sing and perform, so they must ruin it for others by putting people down.)
People are naturally wary of unknown situations. Which flash mobs certainly are. People passing by could worry they're standing in the wrong place, not sure how long it's going to last, be worried someone will ask them for money, or just generally confused by the whole thing. Easier to move on to whatever they were doing. Street performers know this and will often have a friend or someone start up the audience because people are a lot more willing to stop when they're joining a crowd to do so.
These characters in the play are based on the descriptions in Victor Hugo’s novel of Les Miz. Enjolras is described as being handsome, blonde, a leader and fierce combatant. In the subtext he is half of a gay couple with Grantaire. Fierce fighters, yet united in love. So when selecting the actor/singer to play Enjolras he MUST be handsome. The play descriptor for Eponine is that of a woman whose love is unrequited. She dies saving the life of Marius so that he can have Cosette. In the play’s direction Eponine plays a woman of desperation, a woman of dark beauty and whose voice MUST be stronger than Cosette’s or even Fantine’s! For THAT reason you will find that Eponine has the strongest, most soaring, most deep felt singing. Lea Salonga WAS Eponine in the Broadway play. So YES the strongest female singer is given the role of Eponine. Can you give me ANY play of Les Miz where the strongest singer played Cosette, Fantine, or any other female character??
@@heleneschenbacher8512 Good point. I just saw this musical for the first time at the theatre and the actress who played Eponine was the best female vocalist. Also, Enjolras was handsome and blond!
I think Eponine actresses always stand out because they have one of the well known and best songs on the play compared to Cosette lol. Same with Fantine’s character.
Imagine how confused the aliens disguised as humans are right now. They are trying to fit in, shopping at the mall, and see all these random humans singing in unison, and they are actually in key. Hell, I'd be scratching my head too.
Absolutely wonderful , I felt like my heart was going to burst listening to those beautiful voices. I was astonished to see some shoppers walking into Macy’s instead of stopping to listen. If I’d been there I would have been thrilled to bits and crying with emotion to see such a fantastic performance so unexpectedly.
Wow! In all my years I never thought I would see a flash mob. Thank you TheBarts1992 and performers for putting this up! Marvelous act!! Hope to see more from you guys in the future!!!! -Linda Pines
Look for the flash mob in the movie theater. This song is perfect for a flash mob, because it begins with just one person, and then slowly all the other singers join in.
oh wow.. it was just a simple piece of melody....sang with lalalala voice without lyrics created alone at home by her... now it's improve more and become beautiful sing together... thank you to keep it and sing the melody...
AMAZED that people not stop and take the moment in.. especially after all the trying times we go through daily.. To those that criticize, I truly feel sorry for you.. Great job to try to uplift and bring an experience to shoppers... Id so jump in with the chorus...
Ok, I saw two little girls who were obviously Young Cosette and Young Eponine; but where the hell is Gavroche? I saw no little boy singing AT ALL! He sings in One Day More! Hey may not have a solo in the song, but he does sing!
People of all types, ethnicities, all looking like everyday people, all coming together to just ENJOY each other and the song! Closest we get to peace, I guess!
Just shopping in that mall I wouldn't be able to resist at least running in there and joining in with the ensemble lol
maninthebox0 Same!!!
Sameee
For real
Hell Yeah!
Yes but that would actually be illegal
Wow that Eponine is perfect!
I was thinking the exact same thing!! Also loved Mdm. Thenardier!
TreasonousBastard Right!?
TreasonousBastard YOU READ MY MIND!!!!!!
+TreasonousBastard SHES SO PERFECT!
Replying nearly 4 years later, but I KNOW RIGHT.
The last 45 seconds of this song ALWAYS give me chills...
Hannah Bickford same honestly
Me too!
ikrrrr
Plot Twist:
They're all just normal shoppers brought together by the sound of music
Sound of music.. I see what you did three ;-)
Joe Navarra I wish
The mall is aliiiiive with the sound of musiiiiic
but how do they know the words?
Priest sings halellu
I've been watching these flash mobs all day now
I know, they're addicting, just like the Movie/Musical
Jamesonton1 Exactly!
Same I wanna be in a flash mob so badly
Same here
Same
And I’m supposed to be doing my AP hw.....;-;
The girl singing Eponine's part gives me goosebumps. I love these flash mobs.
what color top is she wearing?
@@pennwood7 she is the second girl coming in
Madame Thenardier's voice topped all voices
I couldn't agree more!
It's so much better with the flag though...
Yep! For sure! Clearly the best!
I love these performances. Hats off to the first singer, musician or dancer who starts them off - they must be hoping everyone else joins in and doesn't leave them hanging.
The girl playing Eponine sounds SO MUCH like Samantha Barks (who plays Eponine in the film)
maidmarian101 is she in the short
She also playes in Les Mis 2010, it's my favourite musical :)
Samantha Barks aka the best Eponine not named Lea, and arguably the best Eponine period.
Woah. That eponine sounded so much like Samantha barks. Bravo.
you kidding me? She's better!
No she didn't .... sorry!
*Brava
@@laurenschung you're her mom right...?? Lol
les macy's
Yesssss
joytato Nice! 😁
It took me like 3 whole mins to understand that joke I'm so dumb 😭😂
joytato 😂
HOW HAS THIS NOT GONE VIRAL YET??? I NO UNDERSTAND.
Because it's staged bullshit.
Inspector Javert What? Are you implying that this was somehow planned?? No way. The guy started singing so strangers would randomly join in.
Jessie Charles Are you stupid? This was planned man
Zartam7 He was being sarcastic. Regardless, though, they shouldn't present this as if it were totally random and amazing if it was pre-planned, as it obviously was.
They did not present this as it was not planned, they just started to sing in the middle of a shopping

It's Ohio. Alabama with worse weather, food, and of course, football.
Eponine always steals this song!
I wouldn't say always, I think it depends on the actress playing Eponine, but in this case she for sure stole the whole song :)
Please! Let's go altogether! For everyone!

It was in tribute to Crowe lol...

this is the most beautiful thing I've ever had the privilege of witnessing
I think I just cried, amazing performance outstanding vocals, wish I came across this whilst shopping
I find it in incredible that some people can walk straight past this and carry on their shopping as though nothing’s happening!
Let everybody who liked this video find a bunch of people who can sing and do this, too. I want to see this everywhere.
I love when they finished and they just were like let's go back to shopping andd everybody clapping and cheering around them
So very, very proud to call this theatre home. :) The Ren has an extremely talented group of actors and actresses.
Breathtaking! It was so beautiful it brought me to tears :')
I'm usually not overly much for flash mob musicals, but stumbled across this and thought it was brilliant.
