They managed to avoid a takeover by the largest luxury group… by joining the 2nd largest one (and also french). And in both groups, brands still have a lot of autonomy anyway. Makes you wonder what was the real reason why they didn’t want to go with Arnault (personal?).
It's hard to understand if you're not French but some brands have different philosophy, like Hermes they are luxury brands but don't have the same mentality of LVMH of new money accessories. They think they have more noble strong brand and don't want to be a mass production lowering their quality for profits destroying their image in the process. Of course I know in some countries people don't see the difference between a brand like Hermes and Vuitton. Gucci kinda has been leaning LVMH mentality in the past decade. Another reason also is that if LVMH bought Gucci they would have most probably fired the current execs, and making their voting stake in the company less relevant, since the executives don't want that they will obviously fight for it, being part of the other smaller group is better for Gucci.

@@marcocarlson1693 Gucci is owned by the Kering group, so it is the same (smaller) as LVMH group owned by Arnault. I worked for two houses of LVMH and they were the absolute best company I’ve ever worked for. During the pandemic, full salaries were paid, extra money if we needed it. It’s also a very glamorous company as everyone is part of one thing that’s greatness and parties, free Louis and YsL, staff are able to stay at their wineries across the world. Oh, right. You are aware of the fact that Gucci is part of the french Kering group and the CEO is François-Henri Pinault. Btw he is married to Salma Hayek (funny how women always fall in love with billionaires ;-))

Very high journalistic quality in terms of research but very poor sound mixing. Sound effect too loud and your English ist a little bit difficult to understand for English as a 2nd language speakers. Just a honest feedback :)
Most the brands are not what they use to be. LV not made as well same with Gucci, some items might be but most are not. Now one brand did keep the products well made more less they did't change quality wise is Hermès. Now I hope LVMH doest mess up Hermès. But back to LV to point out what items I found over the years have quality issues, wallets belts shoes sunglasses just name a few. Now the nike LV shoe collaboration the quality is there big time, so I question why not have that level on all the products like they use to long time ago and not just on limited products. And if ones to make limited products colors or styles like example evidence sunglasses and they keep braking with no way to fix with parts they should have.
He doesn't own Hermès. Try as that idiot might, it's looking like (since he hasn't by now) he may never, ever acquire that empire. They are totally independent, as far as I know, family owned, and wouldn't sell, if their lives depended upon it.
on Wikipedia it also says that Pinault also offloaded his leading retail assets just to invest in Gucci. One hell of a gamble
