    I love how everyone is criticising Charles...If it weren't for Robby Andrews he would have won this race with an amazing time...Robby Andrews is a stud, and ended up going pro right after this...Charles' strategy was perfect, know why? because it was HIS strategy. Maybe you'd rather see him run like the all the other guys he beat. The ones that finished BEHIND him and did exactly what you guys are saying HE should have done. Amazing time, amazing race, amazing athletes.

    If he would have been up with the leaders any sooner he would not have run the time he did or won. The pace was too fast. That's why he was able to pickoff the others at the end. Its a tactic used by a lot of good 800m runners to stay off the lead for 600-700m then make a good final move at the end.

    I'm an 800 runner and I hate the 1500. It was not easy for me, even though I used to run 70 miles a week in high school. I was and am pretty competitive in the 800, but my coach once put me in a mile race, and I was barely able to break 5 minutes. Everyone is different, and everyone has different things they are good at.

    @BeFruitful7 the commentator means not as much basic speed, as in his 400 time wouldnt be as fast as some of his other competitors. Thats why he hangs back because 49 would be too fast for him, so he has to run a more even race.

That one guy named Pre who ran there, not a big deal or anything. You know that yellow jersey. The least you could say is the guy form Oregon...

  • @cicirunner
    @cicirunner 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well I guess if they went down in distance, they would be far less competitive but you could say the same thing about going up in distance. Usain Bolt is an amazing 100/200m runner but even his 400m is only average for a professional. Imagine the drop off for a 3000m which is the distance of the steeple. The difference is that the 400mH requires more natural talent since it is a sprinting event. Like you, my opinion is rock solid and I won't change it. Distance runner for life.

    Every distance runner on my team will say that going up in distance is easier then going down. Usain isnt a good quarter miler because he doesnt train for it (even though he is on the Olympic 4x4 team this year). Every 800 runner will say that going up in the 1500 is a lot easier. You will never run a 47 400m let alone with hurdles in your way. I could easily up my mileage and be very decent at the steeple. Your argument is dumb.

    Its easier to go up in distance then it is to go down. Im a sprinter/hurdler and I bet I could train to JUMP over the barriers like the steeplers do. I would invite any distance runner to go down in distance and watch the sprint while HURDLING with 10 barriers in their way..... 400IH is harder. Sorry, good try.
