    Traveling solo for me is such a boost of confidence and moving your boundaries, even when you think you cant you can! The main advice I would give to everyone is - to have NO expectations - those ruin everything, because if you plan it all in your head and have loads of expectations - like it will be beautiful i will be so happy and if some minor thing happens it can be disappointing, but when you have no expectations it will all be so much relaxed and if something is not that perfect it will be great :) Sammy great video as usual :) Thanks!

    I've just recently been to Vienna on my own! I've always wanted to try solo traveling but just never got around to actually do it because that's something you have to actually seek out and organize besides the classic holidays you may take with a partner and your friends. I wanted to go see a band in concert because they didn't have a tour date in my country so I just took the leap and went on my own and I am SO SO GLAD I did!
    Traveling solo just hits different, you can go at YOUR own pace, if you wanna admire a painting for 10 minutes straights or walk really fast past some monument you don't really care about you can! I also met some people at my hostel that were going to the same concert luckily ! We went together, met up with even more people, got food after and got back to the hostel so I wasn't even alone 'at night'. We still keep in touch and it was so wholesome.
    I always felt safe in Vienna tbh and it's also an AMAZING city! I really fell in love with it, wherever you looked there was something to be mesmerized by and I think it's awesome to just stroll around and sightsee. I feel like the main attractions were within walking distance and I truly RECOMMEND walking because you can see a lot of hidden gems on the way to the next place you need to see. I wanna go back because this time around I was in a rush, I stayed very little but made the most of it and once I was home it felt like a fever dream.

    One thing i always do as a solo traveler, i register my trip with the Ministry of Foreign affairs (in my country). Takes 3 minutes to do online and they have information about how to contact you in case of emergency to provide you with assistance if needed. And travel insurance always. Even if it is just for 2 days

      I just came back from travelling around morocco with another friend whos also a woman, Id just say please be careful. Its not really in the culture for women to be walking around alone and doing lots alone, so try to meet friendly people if you can and just be aware of your surroundings. Solo travel is great ! Recommended countries for females would be the Scandinavian countries and Japan. But it’s always good to maybe go to a hostel and meet groups of people if you want to be safe. Most important thing is to trust your gut instincts.

    Traveling solo for music is a shared interest! I did for LA so it was definitely a bit of a different vibe but it was worthwhile and definitely shapes where you’re going in life too, and who you want to share your life with. Very insightful 💕 I’m glad you’re doing this even with your little one, Sammi

    Berlin is fabulous, a really different cool vibe than kind of a typical European city - grittier, but in a great way. There was one incident where I got off the underground at a station and a trio of guys where a bit sketch and I got a bad vibe, so I just quickly headed in the opposite direction and was fine. It’s just as you said it to trust your intuition 😊.

    I’m from a small European country, Slovenia. It’s small and beautiful and safe. I would recommend it to all solo travelers. You can go to the mountains and if you wish to be by the sea, you reach it in two hours.

    I've been wanting freedom this entire year but something always came up... I had so much angst but over the past week or two, I've been seeing signs ( I SAW A WHITE SQUIRREL), horoscope and now this video... I booked the hostel but didn't book the flight... I've now booked the flight because I saw this video! There's been way too many coincidences!
    This will be my first solo trip, at 24, and the first time I'll be staying with strangers in a hostel. I wanted a hotel so bad but the prices couldn't be justified. I'm so anti-soical, still have no friends, but I'm not scared... I'm anxiously excited.
    Sorry for the long message but thanks for the tips!

    I do not advise you to go to Paris on a single trip or with a small group of friends. It is dangerous. Barcelona is also very dangerous at night, it is a divine city to do things by yourself during the day, but at night it is better to go out with friends. Madrid is much safer. I recommend Munich and Berlin, very beautiful and many things to see and visit, they are also very safe cities at night.

    • @sm2593
      @sm2593 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't call Paris dangerous. Of course there's crime there like any big city but if you're going to touristy places there's loads of people around. Also I think its good to know a bit of the language so you have more awareness of what's going on or can shout for help. This might scare people not to go there but in most places I feel like if you're sensible, put precautions in place and have an awareness of what's happening around you, it should be fine (I'm talking more about Europe than anywhere else tho, I wouldn't be that comfortable travelling in some other parts of the world solo personally).

      Depends on the situation but i'd say if someone approaches you and the first thing they ask if you are solo is not a good sign at least in my experience. I once decided to go to a secluded beach outside a seaside town i was visiting and a guy came out of the bushes and starting talking to me. He started trying to grab me the second i said i was traveling alone. Luckily there were other people on the beach so i just ran away and he did not chase after me. That was the last time i ever had a full blown conversation with someone who approached me and was "friendly"

      As a Londoner myself I would say just be careful at night (don't go to quiet places) and also be careful using your phone! A few months ago my phone got stolen by someone on a bike. But otherwise, its quite safe, always lots of people around and you'll be absolutely fine during the day. I travelled in Italy by myself and basically just followed those rules myself I.e. avoided quiet areas and tried not to stay out late by myself. Also if you're lost, the staff in tube stations are usually quite helpful.

    It's only safe in a few places though. Solo travel, whether male or female, is generally safer in Japan, South Korea, Western/Central Europe, Aus/NZ, US/Canada. The rest of the world is not safe to be travelling solo, especially as a westerner. If you know any people/locals it's ok, but if not it's best to go in a travel group.
