Are you a cool, fair olive undertone? I am, and it took me years before I realized that most makeup companies mistake olive undertone as being only warm. Try adding a green colour corrector (like the NYX green colour correcting primer) to your foundation and see if that helps!

My go-to way of shopping for foundations is looking at the under eyes of the “before” marketing photos. I can usually figure out how deep I’ll be (probably because I’m so damn pale that it’s not hard) but the undertone always trips me up and I feel like if there’s a model shot that has the same colors under their eyes that I have, then generally it ends up working for me.
In terms of foundations to try, I would give the Dewing Skin Tint from Becca a try. You don’t need much but it’s a beautiful finish and I think it’ll be a finish and coverage that you’ll enjoy on your skin.
Side note, I’ve been an avid viewer for a few years but don’t comment offer and just wanted to let you know that I look forward to your videos every week. For the flakey glitter, I apply a glitter glue with a synthetic flat eyeshadow brush and then WITH THE SAME BRUSH that still has a little glitter glue on it, I pick up the flakey glitter and pat it onto the lids. You will probably still get a bit of fallout with this, so I would recommend doing eyes first or be prepared to sweep it away with a big fluffy brush. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Urban Decay makes great mascaras. Cannonball Mascara was my go-to for a very long time (so sad when Urban Decay discontinued it). Perversion is great for a lot of length and separation, very good for an almost fairy-like effect. Like a wispy, fluttery fan.
My favorite right now is Stila Huge Mascara though. Doesn’t weight down my lashes but gives me more volume than the Urban Decay Perversion. If you ever find the Stila one on sale, would definitely recommend. But keep in mind that my lashes are kind of sparse, so I am not sure if that formula clumps lashes together (doesn’t do that to mine but… hardly any mascara does unless it’s something terrible like Maybelline Great Lash).

i laughed so hard when you were swatching the laura mercier tinted moisturizer and went ‘i have the shade porcelain - heh... this is porcelain......’
same feels. i’m also, quite fair, and my skin is... neutral? everything is always too pink, too orange, too yellow... and i just tend to pick neutral as the safest bet each time, and then if you’re like ‘this is a little too tinted’ it’s just ‘okay here is white paste’. i wish i had good suggestions, but i just used the sephora sale to hunt for some true holy grails in complexion products. my best shade match has been fenty 120, but the formulas of literally all of fenty’s foundations have not worked well for me. i’m pretty happy with what i have now so i’ll list them for you, because our skin tones look & sound similar, but they’re not drugstore unfortunately.

I have found in my 28 years as a makeup artist, that most people are a combo of more than I shade in certain areas of their face. I go with what I see most, while correcting and evening out areas that can be challenging. I have used the Graftobian foundation palettes for many years for most of my clients. It photographs very well and looks so natural. I experiment from time to time with other professional brands like Kryolan for more coverage and clients with certain skin conditions. As you work with more skin tones and skin conditions it will get easier, I promise. When I first started out, I sought out darker skin tones to practice on because once you master that, then doing all others will be so much easier to tackle. Good luck on your MUA journey!😊

@@muamelanie Your welcome! I have tried the RCMA foundation as well and it is a great foundation. The Graftobian foundation is a little more creamy than RCMA which seems a little more stiff in formula. Both are great investments for your kit. I know last year and this year has been difficult for most and especially as a makeup artist. It has slowed down a lot, but is starting to pick up. Don't feel discouraged, take this time in organizing your kit and enforce all sanitation practices with your products and usage on clients. And yes, practice on any friends & family in perfecting your skills. It will be fun and you will learn what works and what doesn't. Even assisting another seasoned artist can help you in becoming a better artist. I have enjoyed teaching other baby artists through the years and seeing them succeed. I even take some classes from time to time in updating my business. Keep going and don't give up, especially if it is something you love to do. Loving something is your drive & motivation to do more and be better. I wish you the best of luck, my dear! Cheers!

Not drugstore but I’ve been loving the Givenchy Prism Libre foundation. It’s light and glowy. As far as buying online, I can’t until I get outside more again- I was shade matched to Fenty 100 a couple of weeks again. For me, I can eyeball it. I usually need lightest cool or neutral and know the brands that generally cater to me (not that LM Porcelain!!).

Concealer recommendation: the wet n wild megalast incognito in Light beige.
We have similar skin tone and shade, so the light beige is more skin Tone shade than a lighter shade. Their shade range runs too light, but light beige works for the in between fair/light
And the Yensa concealer in light neutral

I really rely on Temptalia's foundation matrix for shade matching. I know it works better with more shades, but even just putting in my Double Wear shade (which I had matched at a EL counter and have been so happy with) has given me some good matches or let me know their isn't a good match.

I use a site called Findation, you pick out, from drop downs, shades you know match you from a variety of brands - the more you choose, the more accurate - and then it will tell you your most likely shade in the product you want. I got my perfect shade in Good Apple by doing this, I got matched to KVD Lock it 44 and then I did some googling to find out the equivalent off 44 in Good Apple was light 10. So even if it's a brand new product that's not on the site yet it gives you enough info to work with.

Foundation shade matching is so hard! When I was the palest I’ve ever been during the quarantine, I couldn’t even get “porcelain” shades to match me. They were all too dark!
I have been into the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear foundation (the one with the red lid in a glass pump bottle) and it is my favorite foundation of all time. I also have been into the WnW Tinted Moisturizer. I usually mix the L’Oréal and the WnW but they are both great on their own as well!!

Product wise I genuine love is the UD All Nighter concealer, however when you are swatching to colour match it oxidises a lot, so it will look so light until settles, but it lasts forever.
The essence twist up liner (fight me, I hate wood pencils) in the silver shade is so good. I love it in the inner corner under other colours, or on their own. Also its so nice in the lower waterline, it looks stunning, but less stark than white/peach colours. I also use it for a super precise subtle highlight and it's great to toss in a bag if you like a highlighted cupids bow (cause lips stuff has to deal with food/drink)

When it comes to online foundations I'm typically the lightest neutral shade (often the 2nd lightest colour). Also I have helped friends colour match who look very different from me.
I start by trying to divide and conquer, so I try to find the "1/3rd" that would be closest in a range (often light/medium/dark in theory).
Then within that again in thirds (light end, mid-range, dark end). Then from there start looking at undertones. Typically from there it's 1 or 2 shades to choose from.
If I'm uncertain between them I start really studying the swatches. I try to find other swatches/reviews to see if it oxidised, pulled warm or dark.
Typically it has worked well for me and the friends I have helped!
