I have owned my CT for four months and it is still an amazing vehicle. It is so innovative and Tesla software is 10 years ahead of any other company. It really is a space ship.
I'm finding it interesting that when the Cybertruck released, there were the few fans and a lot of bashers on it. Now? It seems like it's coming full circle and there's a lot of fans with only a few bashers on it. Myself? I think the Cybertruck is awesome and I wish I was able to get one. I may not be able to take it out into the middle of the Mojave desert, etc, but it's built to survive the concrete jungles of the US and the failing road infrastructures! With that said, I think you can't go wrong with either of these vehicles. Both are unique and functional. Also, both are American automotive companies!
@@srirammanian536 Route planning automatically sends me to highest quality chargers, usually that is Tesla and RAN. Occasionally it will send me to EA, but only the reliable ones. Agreed there are many bad ones, but the system is good at avoiding those.
The Rivian knocks it out of the park with that gray color and wheels. I would want the Cyber Truck wrapped in that color. I love the interior room of the Cyber Truck but the Rivian just looks better so it would be my choice.
Rivian is rated 2 out of 5 by Consumer Reports for reliability. They also rate Rivian, the brand, as one of the worst brands (5th lowest out of 34 brands) for reliability with a reliability score of 55. To put that into perspective, Land Rover is rated at a score of 50. I saw a Rivian in the wild last week. Took me a bit of time to figure out what the Rivian resembled. Then it hit me, the Rivian has a strange resemblance to the old Ford Flex.
so far nothing major. I hesitated when I take deliver, but can`t be happier now. Every drive it puts a big smile on my face. Even I was a supercar owner. lol
I would buy a cybertruck. Our reserved parking is so tight, it would drive my co-workers insane. It would make me chuckle all day long. All. Day. Long.
The powered tonneau has been redesigned and is available to configure on new models. Current owners are getting their old tonneaus replaced with the new ones and Rivian has stated the new powered tonneau will be available in the gear shop soon for installation on Rivians that were purchased without a powered tonneau.
Good video. Just a few things not mentioned about the Riv (which is heavier by the way making the regen even more impressive). The water fording height is also a significant difference for trucks that are purported ‘beasts’…the Rivian can for much deeper water with zero setup time unlike the CT which needs several minutes before it its water to…ummm…prepare?
That waiting is pressurizing the battery pack to avoid water ingress. I don't know how often you are fording a deep river but when you do it's probably not a bad idea to take precautionary measures
I recently saw a video of a Cybertruck getting side swiped by a Ford Mustang and the only thing damaged was the wrap. Comparing that to the multiple 40k repair estimates I've seen on Rivians with minor rear end damage, I'll have go with the Cybertruck.

Trucks have stayed with ladder frames when other vehicles went with unibody decades ago for a reason. The twitchy steering is the opposite of what you want when backing up a trailer. And 4 wheel steering isn't new. In fact, in the Cybertruck, it just compensates for the horrible front wheel steering angle. Hummer has a smaller turning radius, despite being long. Hell, it was tested against a 1972 Suburban and lost there too. Dents are just cosmetic in a truck, and dents can be pulled. Cybertruck will dent too, despite the propaganda. And when it does dent, it will be harder to fix. I don't drive a computer. I don't give a shit about the infotainment system. Besides, other vehicles support Carplay or Google, giving far more options than Tesla shoukd someone actually care about that. Funny you bring up manual windows as a plus when Cybertruck does not even have manual door handles. The abysmal range negates it's usefulness as a work truck for me. Same with the goofy side sails that prevent bed access from the side. Model Y hit bestselling once, and that will not happen again with Tesla's sales slump. Besides, it was their only big seller. Toyota's second best seller outsold all other Tesla models combined. How will Cybertruck be a better value in the future? If it follows the Tesla trend, Tesla will remove features as time passes. Tesla is only reducing prices because inventory is piling up. Sales are dropping substantially. And you can't claim they are the price leader when Cybertruck is the most expensive EV truck. Even the Hummer has a base model with a lower price. And nearly everyone has a budget EV cheaper than anything Tesla sells.
Cybertruck ALLL DAY! Tesla infrastructure from state to state travel is second to none. Tesla phone app, sentry mode, and being able to review what’s around outside before getting into the car is NICE at night- if working late hours.
Someone has drunk the Musk Kool-aid. I had my first encounter with a Cybertruck in the wild last week, a gray wrapped eyesore. The thing is more ugly in person than on a video. A truly comical looking vehicle. The build quality is hilariously bad. The panel gaps are wider than the grand canyon. The stainless steel is laughable, even wrapped. And the interior seems less than the quality of a Nissan Sentra. The thing looks like something my 6 year old grandson would concoct on his etch-a-sketch. I am still laughing at the thought anyone would actually pay $100K or so for the thing. They just prove P.T. Barnum was correct.
Chris is not reviewing the updated R1, which, as I hear, is 10 times better than the outgoing R1, puts it ahead of Cybertruck in output specs and gets smoother and quieter, forget about quieter looks for a second.
@nguyep4 if it comes which usually in Tesla's case, it's about 4 years out for any kind of a hardware update. Then you can do a new review. 2024 Rivian has a completely new motor and a computer and a lot of new other hardware which he doesn't even talk about in this review.
If Rivian had a service center near me, I’d pick that. Closest one is 400 miles away. Tesla has one 25 miles away. I’d pick CyberTruck for now, just because of that. Both are nice vehicles.
Cybertruck for sure. Drive by wire and FSD(soon) will make it like a car from future, not just the look. If you want an old school truck, just get a RAM TRX, it is 100 times better than Rivian.

Want to add that the quad motor Rivian does weight about 500lbs more than the dual motor CT. Primarily due to the motors. Even though it’s a smaller truck.

@HKFIJIHK the Rivian has a motor at each wheel that can provide up to 250+ horsepower per wheel with unlimited variable torque, tweaked thousands of times per seconds as needed depending on traction. So the Rivian has more range, better acceleration and costs less. It also has a gauge cluster 😆
@@Aegisx5 check the videos. It’s limited by software and optimization. mechanical lockers are tried and true and will move without hesitation at the same time with the same torque. My buddy has the quad. It takes awhile for the computer to figure out what’s going on. Also the Tri motor CT weighs less than the Quad Rivian and faster in the 1/4 mile with off-road tires. 😜
Cybertruck is actually a new design. Visibility is great, it’s also big and bed is great, has 220 outlets. I like old truck designs, current designs are boring jellybeans that all look the same. I’d get a cybertruck but never selling the 05 Tundra.

Great videos - 2 things missed - The WARRANTY on Rivian would be canceled in a Bankruptcy, and the company is not profitable - AND - FSD is going to better in the Cybertruck vs Rivian 100% - these are TWO BIG FACTORS. Yes, I like looks of Riv and specs good - but no *true* Warranty and no FSD makes it way less capable, and worse value.
The R1T is tiny in back seat and entire cab is tight. The bed is small. It’s a great truck for some people, like my dad but for me that runs a biz with my truck I need the Cybertruck. Plus I want a truck that gets updates, can completely drive itself and is made by a company that’s not losing money on every vehicle they sell. I think k the R1S is a better vehicle for Rivian. The R1T is not a real truck. But nice as an adventure vehicle and a great all electric vehicle to get people into battery electric vehicles. I hope everyone gets an electric vehicle as they are amazing and great for our children’s future with the earth! No one cares about the earth, but we need to.

A couple of corrections. Rivian is the most aero but not the most efficient. Cybertruck is lighter than the Rivian. Bottom line both nice but do you want a mid or full size truck?
Thorough review. Cybertruck better offroad and onroad for me and stainless steel won't scratch, dent. Great shots in and out while moving. Not easy great work.
Despite many polarizing online comments and reviews, Cybertruck is 95% WOWS and positivity in the real world. The Cybertruck causes gawking…people walk up ask questions, take photos, wave and video as you pass. Especially the kids get it! Big grinning kids do thumbs up and jump up and down. Drive a Rivian into a Buckees, and few will notice. The Rivian is nice but will be an after thought. The Cybertruck is iconic. The Cybertruck is going for the green like in Tin Cup. The Rivian is a layup. Some people are layups and that’s ok. However I’m going for the green!

One word: GIGAFACTORY. Rivian loses $32,595 for every vehicle sold! That's not sustainable in the long term. Tesla makes 20% on each CyberTruck. VW had to throw Rivian a $5 billion lifeline to keep them afloat. I wouldn't want to be stuck with a Rivian once EV credits expire and they declare bankruptcy. Rivian is on borrowed time.

Tesla can charge on CCS also with an adapter. So both can use everything.

I do not have an issue with the Cybertruck. I just don’t like all the issues the Cybertruck has. Both trucks are great on paper.

Rivian has a driver assist already. Cybertruck doesn't.
Rivian is far away from FSD. CT has FSD, just not yet activate yet because the all new WIRE system is so advance, needs to be re-train.

Want to add that the quad motor Rivian does weight about 500lbs more than the dual motor CT. Primarily due to the motors. Even though it’s a smaller truck.
The Rivian is the faster truck too, with longer range. It's not close.

@HKFIJIHK the Rivian has a motor at each wheel that can provide up to 250+ horsepower per wheel with unlimited variable torque, tweaked thousands of times per seconds as needed depending on traction. So the Rivian has more range, better acceleration and costs less. It also has a gauge cluster 😆
@@Aegisx5 check the videos. It’s limited by software and optimization. mechanical lockers are tried and true and will move without hesitation at the same time with the same torque. My buddy has the quad. It takes awhile for the computer to figure out what’s going on. Also the Tri motor CT weighs less than the Quad Rivian and faster in the 1/4 mile with off-road tires. 😜
The regen braking also depends on the charge.
Also, that's something that can be set to what feels best.
Cybertruck is actually a new design. Visibility is great, it’s also big and bed is great, has 220 outlets. I like old truck designs, current designs are boring jellybeans that all look the same. I’d get a cybertruck but never selling the 05 Tundra.

Rivian’s interior is superb but UI, mobile app and drive assistance are years away from Tesla.
If I have to get one, then R1T. It's easier to repair the eyesore.
The argument comes down to needs. some are unable to see both sides. To be completely fair. The Tesla ecosystem and software is by a long way best in class, this alone is a big ticket item. The CT has cast chassis making its ridigity first class, it has rear steer, it has FBW steering which enables variable ratio steering, which everyone I’ve ever seen enjoys. It has subtle tech from 48v architecture, and gigabit Ethernet interconnection of computers. The CT has the stainless body, which love it or hate it, won’t fade, scratch (like paint) and won’t dent.
For my work truck. If I could get it here. I would take the CT. If I wasn’t using it as a work truck, the rivian has some incredibly sick aesthetic features. There’s a lot to like. But would I buy one as a fleet vehicle for my workers that’s going to get trashed…. Hrmmm. Nope. Definitely nope.
But, don’t underestimate how incredible Tesla software is. Tesla are doing a lot of shit right. They have a following for good reason. The model y wouldn’t be the best selling car in the world (without advertising) if it was a shit buying and owning experience.
It’s very very likely, that the CT will be far far better value for money in the coming few years. The rivian has consistently struggled to make money. Ie, consistently lost billions per year, getting better but…. (not sustainable)
There is also a small probability they won’t exist in a few years if they keep losing money hand over fist.
Enter the benefits of cast chassis and in house manufacturing.
The CT is early days and doesn’t have the fancy interior, but presents a very compelling truck moving forward.
Let’s not forget one of the best selling 4x4 on history is the Toyota landcruiser which still sells with manual windows, and 2 speakers.
You don’t want all that fancy shit in a work truck. Especially a company car. Simplicity, reliability and cost is EVERYTHING.
Tesla is one of the only manufacturers reducing vehicle prices when everyone else goes up.
Great videos - 2 things missed - The WARRANTY on Rivian would be canceled in a Bankruptcy, and the company is not profitable - AND - FSD is going to better in the Cybertruck vs Rivian 100% - these are TWO BIG FACTORS.
Yes, I like looks of Riv and specs good - but no *true* Warranty and no FSD makes it way less capable, and worse value.
The R1T is tiny in back seat and entire cab is tight. The bed is small. It’s a great truck for some people, like my dad but for me that runs a biz with my truck I need the Cybertruck. Plus I want a truck that gets updates, can completely drive itself and is made by a company that’s not losing money on every vehicle they sell. I think k the R1S is a better vehicle for Rivian. The R1T is not a real truck. But nice as an adventure vehicle and a great all electric vehicle to get people into battery electric vehicles. I hope everyone gets an electric vehicle as they are amazing and great for our children’s future with the earth! No one cares about the earth, but we need to.

A couple of corrections. Rivian is the most aero but not the most efficient. Cybertruck is lighter than the Rivian. Bottom line both nice but do you want a mid or full size truck?

Thorough review. Cybertruck better offroad and onroad for me and stainless steel won't scratch, dent. Great shots in and out while moving. Not easy great work.
Despite many polarizing online comments and reviews, Cybertruck is 95% WOWS and positivity in the real world. The Cybertruck causes gawking…people walk up ask questions, take photos, wave and video as you pass. Especially the kids get it! Big grinning kids do thumbs up and jump up and down.
Drive a Rivian into a Buckees, and few will notice. The Rivian is nice but will be an after thought.
The Cybertruck is iconic. The Cybertruck is going for the green like in Tin Cup. The Rivian is a layup.

One word: GIGAFACTORY. Rivian loses $32,595 for every vehicle sold! That's not sustainable in the long term. Tesla makes 20% on each CyberTruck. VW had to throw Rivian a $5 billion lifeline to keep them afloat. I wouldn't want to be stuck with a Rivian once EV credits expire and they declare bankruptcy. Rivian is on borrowed time.
