- Gran Canaria Airport, (Spanish: Aeropuerto de Gran Canaria) is a passenger and freight airport on the island of Gran Canaria. It is an important airport within the Spanish air-transport network.
The airport is located in the eastern part of Gran Canaria on the Bay of Gando (Bahía de Gando), 19 km south of center of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and 25 km from the popular tourist areas in the south.
The airport was an official alternative (emergency) landing site for the NASA Space Shuttle, before the ending of Space Shuttle programme in July 2011.

we arrived our destination after a flight of 4 hours and 50 minutes.

Nice video! I was wondering on where you grap the sound from for the recording. So environmental noise, ATC, intercom to the cabin and your conversation, all in good quality.

In mijn huidige rooster kom ik (nog) niet op Eindhoven (nog omdat ze altijd mijn rooster kunnen aanpassen....)

question.. I know about the basics of flight but on a jetliner such as this when flying a manual approach, do you always use lots of stick and rudder input or is it dependant on cross winds etc? Is this aircraft a 737?

Also thanks for the question. As with all aircraft. A trimmed aircraft is easier to fly! But since there is wind and gusts and updrafts and so on.... we need to make inputs. The amount of input depends on how big the change is... You act on what you feel/see. Hope the answer is clear.

I always use the full callsign. But because I don't want to use the full callsign in my films I filter them out. (As long the company can't complain I can make these films... )

Wederom tof! Zo te zien een nieuw toestel waar jullie in vliegen, merk je veel verschil met de toevoeging van de Short Field Package?
Nieuwe kisten vliegen zeker fijn!
Flap sequence is anders. Daar kan je, je nog wel eens op verkijken. (drag wise).
De FULL extend van de leading edge slats is pas vanaf flaps 25 (full extend bij 30 en 40) ivp flaps 5. (Bij 10 t/m 40)
Verder nog wel wat kleine verschillen... maar het vliegt gewoon lekker! :-D
mightymkl Ja, kan me voorstellen! Ik zal eens kijken of ik je een keer herken, werk voor de onderhoudsdienst voor SPL (gele dienstwagens die door het landingsterrein heen rijden).

Vraagje: waarom benaderen jullie het vliegveld vanuit zuidelijke richting? Stond die dag zo'n harde noordelijke wind?
De richting van het landen in het algemeen heeft met de wind te maken. We willen namelijk het liefst tegen de wind in landen. (Betere performance en minder landingsbaan nodig).
@@mightymkl Ik heb inmiddels een paar video's gezien waaruit blijkt dat de landingsbaan Las Palmas altijd van het zuiden wordt aangevlogen, althans, daar lijkt het op.

Bedankt voor de "requested view !" Het valt me op dat veel ATC taalverkeer in "land van herkomst" is (landing zakynthos, Athene etc) , waarom niet in het Engels zoals je zou verwachten ? Het is in het verleden wel vaker fout gegaan. yellowwings.nl/luchtvaartcommunicatie/
Verder weer een top moment om mee te maken, weer dank daarvoor !
Mooie beelden weer en een scherp geluid.. Je hoeft dus niet altijd de VOR-LOC te gebruiken maar kunt ook direct de APP won't arm, wanneer je LNAV invliegt..?
Leuke vraag Jaap! Ik moest voor het antwoorden even de boeken in. Had natuurlijk wel een idee waar ik moest zoeken, maar het zijn geen boeken waar je dagelijks in kijkt.
ICAO ANNEX 10 hoofdstuk 5.
5.2.1.2 Language to be used
5.2.1.2.1 The air-ground radiotelephony communications
shall be conducted in the language normally used by the
station on the ground or in the English language.
Note 1.- The language normally used by the station on the
ground may not necessarily be the language of the State in
which it is located. A common language may be agreed upon
regionally as a requirement for stations on the ground in that
region.
Note 2.- The level of language proficiency required for
aeronautical radiotelephony communications is specified in
the Appendix to Annex 1.
5.2.1.2.2 The English language shall be available, on
request from any aircraft station, at all stations on the ground
serving designated airports and routes used by international air
services.
5.2.1.2.3 The languages available at a given station on the
ground shall form part of the Aeronautical Information
Publications and other published aeronautical information
concerning such facilities.
Feitelijk staat hierin dat de taal van the state (het land) gebruikt mag worden mits omschreven in het AIP (Aeronautical Information Publication).
Maar je zal over het algemeen wel zien dat toch Engels het meest gebruikt wordt.
Als het anders is moeten ze in ieder geval wel de engelse taal beheersen. (Zie Frankrijk bijv.)

Om een ILS te intercepten mag je zowel VOR-LOC als APP mode gebruiken. Let wel dat als je VOR-LOC gebruikt de GP niet automatisch gevolgd worden. GP mag zowel van onder als van boven opgepakt worden maar zal pas gevolgd worden als de LOC is captured.
Hoop zo je vraag beantwoord te hebben. :-)

Those are the trim wheels... to keep the plane in balance. Every time you change speed or configuration the plane needs to be trimmed again. Every time we trim, you'll see the trim wheel spinning.
