I just love these guys. Their guitars just blend together in beautiful harmony and their lyrics are intelligent and are sung with a very soft, interestingly beautiful voice.
The Dandys are the best when your having a Bad day with Anger Stress or Anxiety - just lock the door turn down the lights and loud - let it all slip away
CTT always manages to look completely different every time I see a video or recent clip, like for 30 yrs now, he's always sporting a different hairstyle, or fashion look. He has remained just as handsome as the day his first video was released, looking like a Eurupean male model who knew how to dress & pout that caught the interest of many. However, once we looked upon one of the most handsome musicians of his era, the music, too, managed to catch your ear & you were hooked. A band that creates music resulting in material of which no song sounds the same. They do something that's melodically mesmerizing, music that flows into & around you, making you move without even realizing it- the vibe they create is amazing & I sincerely hope they continue to make & release music for yrs to come. I long for the days when music inspired me and moved me to tears, . when artists made albums and we cherished every part of the experience, going to the record store & unwrapping the newest release, looking at the artwork, devouring every song, Listening to the record in its entirety, the way the bands made them......the Dandy Warhols were front and center of the Portland music scene...I miss all of it. It literally makes my heart ache that "music" isn't about music really at all anymore, I miss the city that craved and celebrated true artistic expression. Whatever ego-driven chauvinistic materialism that is now "music" is a joke so unfunny it makes me sick. The Dandy Warhols are the very best of a far away but never forgotten era. Their music, new and old has the ability to bypass whatever is going on and wind its way into every part of my body and spirit. And THAT is an amazing feeling, and why I've always loved the Dandy Warhols.
The kind of music you’re talking about is still here. I’ve recently discovered some new bands like Highasakite, Ride, and Van Hunt, and before that Ariel Pink, Brothertiger, and others. “Why You So Crazy” is one of my latest acquisitions and it’s great to hear while working or relaxing in the studio. I relate easily to the Dandy’s inner world. It’s how I feel & want to feel at the same time. But we’re changing too. I think in our teenage years and our twenties things were not only different in the world, but we were made out of a different chemistry and that changed too. Music doesn’t do the same thing because we’re used to our music and we’ve practically heard almost everything that’s anything by now. Plus most people become busier with their lives & families, etc. and the claims of the world on us. But still, once in a while, go to a record shop and browse or brew a French Press of coffee on a Saturday night and explore some new genres on TH-cam. It’s there - you’ll find it. A little bit goes a long way.
Saw them do this live in Manchester, it was louder and a bit faster, but absolutely fabulous - although I prefer this version, its just one of their best songs and its clever "its what you do with your time" - so true.
This is perfect! Heard it via 103.1 (iheartradio in Austin) and was so excited to see it really was TDW! Well done and so wish we were getting one of the fall dates! Can't believe I missed 'em just a couple of months ago.
