As long as they pick the right story to tell (in which i hope it's a story of the Teyvat past), i think it would be fine.. The PV they showed us really reminded me of Ufotable's previous anime; Tales of Zestiria so the quality of the anime is definitely turned out beautiful or better..

The environment is beautiful, but I do think I would have preferred a more stylized look, given genshin itself has a wonderful stylized environment that works wonderfully. Although I don't think it would be a deal breaker
You have to remember that it is ufotable, not Ghibli, so they're going to do it their way rather than the Ghibli inspired landscapes of genshin. I don't think it will matter too much, I think I'd rather see it in a new light rather than the same one.

When I think of modern animated films/shows that combine and stylize 2d and 3d elements, Arcane and Spider-man Into the Spiderverse come to mind (Honkai Impact as well, but their animation paless in comparison to the other 2). I hope genshin would do SOMETHING to make their visual style stand out against the ocean of animes and films that are out there. Genshin Impact has a colorful and intricate artstyle and world; it would be a shame for it to go to waste and look like another generic anime.
My personal worry is that the anime background will not mesh well with the characters. We saw hyperrealistic backgrounds in the trailer, and compared the characters stood out like a sore thumb as a result. Hope they can find a balance between the two. I also have a personal headcanon that Hoyolab's Enjou character demo and the recent anniversary animation were made by Ufotable's Claymation department Edit: apparently it was by Grinch Studio, not Claymation

What if they adapt the in-game story later first start adapting the lore which hasn't been explored yet giving players miss info about teyvat and it's world building incorporating it to the main story would be good, by that time, the game release of it's archon quests and all the main story would be over
I'm hoping like how Genshin have their manga early on featuring Collei before she becomes playable, the anime will also showcase new characters from Fontaine, Natlan or even Sneznhaya that would soon become playable, which rewards those people who watched (or are interested in the lore) when they appear in the Archon Quest and whatnot Collei is by far the best example of this since her past isn't lighthearted like most characters are in the game, so telling a story through that would've given the audience a much needed background about their character without too much exposition dump It's great honestly, and will generate lots of hype when they do get released
i really hope it isn't just a retelling of the archon quests, having something like the manga prequel would be a much better use of their resources, maybe something about the archon war or lumine's travels before aether wakes up. but considering its supposed to be a long term project i feel like they'll just adapt the archon quest and that's it, which sucks because there's so much extra stuff that happens and cutting things out usually makes problems for adaptations

When you showed the ayaka trailer in the vid, it wouldnt be suprised if hoyo also does partake in a lot of the animation part as well, not just the key visuals but also in the effect dynamics and such. Their way on making well animated characters trailers looking like a whole artwork is moving is what i genuinely applaud their animation team to this day.
My biggest concern is the modeling and animation these incredibly detailed characters. I draw genshin characters a lot and I can safely say that they will be such a pain to move and animate. I. Just worried they will cut details out just to make the characters move
I was hoping the Genshin anime would be fully 3D to avoid this problem but it looks like they plan for the characters to be 2D, at least most of the time. Ufotable tends to temporarily turn characters 3D during certain scenes.

I feel like if they decide to make the anime focus around the main plot, this would be a good chance to revamp some of the old archon quests to give them more detail and attention without rushing *cough cough* like inazuma *cough cough*. I've already seen a lot of people saying that the animation looks bad etc, not taking into consideration that it's just a concept trailer. Demon Slayer and Fate, especially the Heaven's Feel movies (but all of it holds up extremely well), look absolutely breathtaking. Both Fate and Demon Slayer have incredible background art/environments and they blend in well with the different art styles, so I'm not worried about that in the slightest

actually it's a very good thing that people are criticizing it !! concept trailers/art are meant to be a sort of rough draft, rather than a final version. criticism allows the creators to realize what viewers want, and can adjust accordingly.

Something that I would like to see in the anime would be little slice of life episodes about the characters instead of a story with the traveler as the protagonist and looking for their sibling and pretty much all that we already seen in the game. I think it would be nice that the anime is the things the traveler didn't saw like "a day with the demon conquerer" where Chongyun and Xiao make an investigation about a misterious demon or how Xiangling could doubt if her cooking abilities are hers or just the fact that she has the prescence of the god of the kitchen and stoves. Maybe the episodes could end with the characters making a letter for the traveler about their own adventures and show that Teyvat is bigger than the traveler's view in the story quest. Idk
What would be the point of that there is no goal even slice of life animes have goals and actually have a reason to mesh with one another? That would be extremely boring if you have no character to focus on or there story to focus on you simply can't progress the story

I believe I was one of the only people who called it out on being an anime ever since the game launched. My words were and I quote: "Bro! This atmosphere is so pretty. Imagine if they will make an anime of it someday! I'd watch it!" Definitely aged like a fine Osmanthus wine. Although to be fair I'm the type of person who wants anything to have an anime of anything. Then Maxor came with his Genshin review video and while Genshin story might be some "hyperborean bs" as he put it, it still has a lot of anime storyline potential... especially if its a prequel. It's basically an Isekai so I smell success. Genshin for Isekai Quartet when? Now other games that should get animes: Crystar, Warcraft, DNF Duel (did that get an anime?), Borderlands, Mabinogi, some of the Japanese RPGMaker horror games (Ib, Alicemare), and other examples that elude me now etc.
pretty sure you weren't the only one who called it. genshin from the very start, despite being a chinese IP, is very undeniably heavily influenced by anime - art style, trends, tropes, etc. not to mention one of the dubs you can play the game with is japanese, and you gotta admit that was at least partially because people love anime and have seiyuu fandoms. tl;dr it was pretty obvious how much of a chance genshin had to have its own anime from the start

Hoyoverse and genshin in particular are known for creating very good and unique stories, i have no concerns for the plot, whatever they choose to be the main focus

If Genshin anime ends up being good, Mihoyo pockets and community will increase even more and I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not. Since the game’s problems still exists after 2 years in development and I wonder if they get it fixed until then.
Honestly, the best direction the anime could take is an exploration of the pre-history ofTeyvat (phanes, the Archon War, the Cataclysm, Enkanomya, etc.)
I think a good starting point for the anime would be the manga's story, it has decent worldbuilding with mondstadt, introduces the starter characters, and the fatui, decent action scenes and so on.
At this point, I would not be surprised if the story team focused very heavily into world and character building, that at the time of them writing the Archon (mainline) quests, they're just exhausted. I think they already know how the main story will end, but they are just yet to complete the gap between the Prologue until that point. Prologue, and Chapter 1 has nice details and plot points but they're unremarkable. Chapter 2 is way too rushed I forgot there was a civil war and Kokomi is actually considered to be a "great tactician" or something. Meanwhile, the world quests are such complete bangers like Dragonspine, Sakura tree with "Kazari", Chasm exploration with Zhiqiong, and Enkanomiya. Also, the character lore and stories are also really great, like Kazuha's, Raiden Shogun's, and Zhongli's. Anyway, now I have a reason not to die yet until Genshin anime is released
I see a lot of people speculating on whether the story is going to be set in the past or during the archon quest. What I hope would happen is they make several series running parallel with one another, with a main series following along with archon quest and as the plot develops and lore is revealed, some spin off series branch off to tell the story of what happened in the past in a given period of time, be it about a certain event or just showing a certain character's backstory. This way, the audience who has never played the game and new players who just started playing will get to experience the main game's story and discover the world's lore along with the traveler, while more veteran players who are more familiar with the game's lore can also look forward to some new stories. Win-win for all.
Given how popular Genshin is, I don't see a scenario where the anime could be BAD, but the question is how good will it be? You already know the animation will be simply stunning with Ufotable on the job, and Ufotable with Genshin's budget? I think we're gonna see some of the best 2D style animation ever. The only question is the story, how will they handle making an anime with a cast of 50 and growing characters? I don't think it will be bad but will it just be good or will they pull it off and the story is amazing? Either way I think the anime will provide a huge boost to the Genshin playerbase
1:40 Remember Tales of Zestiria the X anime? That one looked good but had mediocre if not boring storytelling (mostly taken from the game with some story changes that somehow made it worse). And UFOTABLE worked on it. Whatever happens I'm sure Genshin won't end up like that one hopefully.
I would love many ideas but this might be my favourite: Lumine (she’s basically the cannon Abyss sibling) and how she handled losing her brother and then her friends again in a different world, how Kaehneria worked and how celestia dealt with it (we get to see some gods but never their faces or any real details just see them plotting and moving a chess board) also we get to see the archons stories they’ve like side characters though since Lumine will be the MC and Dainslief will be her best friend and so yea show me that in depth show me the pain after the cataclysm happened every little detail
I believe the plot will be about Aether boarding Captain Beidou's ship in search of the "Genshin Impact" And a scene of him exclaiming "The genshin impact! The genshin impact is real!"
I hope they just make an entirely different story, some sort of spin off, with both travelers as protagonists. Something like the Sonic X anime did with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 and Sonic Battle. I feel like using this to show the time before the Cataclysm would ruin the game’s story, which it’s going to fully reveal that anyway. The fact that Paimon was also shown makes me hope for it.
I remember watching demon slayer outta absolute boredom and lack of better things to do. I binged all episodes available as soon as possible. Not because of the story, I legit recall telling friends that I was really annoyed at how overly dramatic it was, but I couldn't tell what kept me hooked. It wasn't until I was done with all demon slayer content and moved on to another random anime that I realized that _holy shit it was the art quality_ that kept me intrigued all that time. I didn't even bother following the anime I started next because I couldn't remember its name for the life of me but I still remember how I compared the two in my head and found myself disappointed with the latter's choppy quality. I went on a tangent but I meant to say: whatever that studio touches will become gold. And genshin already has a great lore and cast to add to it. There's no way this anime will fail.

I have this faint yet undying hope it will be about our Sibling's travels. It would work well as a stand-alone but will also be very rewarding for those who play genshin. Mihoyo is not afraid to drop hype for stuff that will only be realeazed in years, so never know.

I’m looking forward to the anime, but I’m primarily worried about it’s handling of the plot. I wouldn’t want it to just be a retelling of the main storyline, both because that wouldn’t be as interesting as other potential options but also because I still don’t trust studios to not butcher the plot by leaving out arcs that add to the story in important ways- and considering how much time Genshin dedicates to its world building…I’m a little hesitant, I suppose. Still, if it ends up being good, then I’d love to share it with everyone I know!
I hope so too! The English VA’s have made such a name for themselves within the Genshin community, it would be a crime if they DIDN’T bring them back for the anime adaptation
Hoyoverse knows their audience and the audience they want to bring, that is why Ufotable became a big in west audience, I someone that appreciate animation and not just perfect draw still images with very realistic backgrounds and heavy filters I'm not happy with the new anime but I hope they drop that ultra realistic background and do it more like it is in the game that resembles better a good anime and blend better with the characters, my only hope is that Hoyoverse artistic team is more vocal and help to do changes and not just approve anything Ufotable give them
and I just hope that with the amount of money hoyoverse makes off of genshin (and I think honkai too), they can afford to pay the animators a decent wage and let them work normal hours...
I think this deal is much more rewarding for ufotable. Yes it will probably look great but i feel like the story will be mediocre at best. Overall what they have as a source material is an isekai with story that is not great and i dont talk about lore thats something diffrent. Also they have to rewrite the whole main character so he or she does actually interacts with the people and the world and overall the story so its not stretched out, the side characters arent appealing either because whatever story backround may be most of the characters are not really defined by that, theres a clear line that the character has a stereotype and its like any other anime 123 character.
I wish ufotable luck i know i know theyre a massive studio with giga chads who worked on demon slayer but still thr detail in every genshin characters to be hand drawn will be difficult
My only concern about this anime if the protagonist is either Lumine or Aether, if both that's fine, I just don't want to see one of them being an abyss prince/princess, because that would upset so many fans and probably give up watching it. People are assuming since Aether is seen as the true protagonist in the game they will assume it will be him. But to me, both siblings are the true protagonists of the game no assets about it. But maybe the series will show the events before they got separated so it will put people's minds at ease.
They are both canon. Hoyoverse has said this in the past. And it's becoming increasingly clear the world is looping in some way anyways, so both of them will canonically go on a journey.

The traveler and their sibling is shown together in the trailer. Could the anime explore their pastt before they got stuck in Teyvat? The places shown there also didn't seem like they were from Teyvat, at least from any nation we have already. So could the trailer had shown us places from another worlds where they travalered together? idk i think it'd be cool
As much as people want the anime to have a story other than just the Archon quest, that will sadly be what we will just get. Because the anime is MADE for people OUTSIDE the community already. it is supposed to bring more people into the game or bring them back and make them more active. The anime is just a treat for people who already are playing the game. The least they can do is make Lumine the Traveler here since they made Aether the Traveler in their promos. It makes things balanced
the person that it's going to probably do the OST is Go Shiina, the ost we listening at the end of the trailer looked like his style and he did the ost to demon slayer and other ufotable shows
Tbh i dont have high expectations, because some anime adapatations have either good or meh results. Like Girls Frontline anime. The op and ed songs are good (ive been listening bad candy for months), but some inaccuracies (t-dolls' guns sounds like laser or using wrong gun), and poorly executed moments (m4a1's reaction in ep12) makes it meh that makes some shikikans scratch their heads and commit war crimes for some reasons. But still, i hope IF s2 will come, it would become better, and they maybe they will cover Arctic Warfare and Deep Dive, and the Singularity ofc

I feel like if they decide to make the anime focus around the main plot, this would be a good chance to revamp some of the old archon quests to give them more detail and attention without rushing *cough cough* like inazuma *cough cough*. Tbh, there’s a 0% chance this project fails, I mean look at what ufotable did to demon slayer who literally no one cared about till the anime. This anime is for sure gonna be a juggernaut.
I've already seen a lot of people saying that the animation looks bad etc, not taking into consideration that it's just a concept trailer. Demon Slayer and Fate, especially the Heaven's Feel movies (but all of it holds up extremely well), look absolutely breathtaking.
Both Fate and Demon Slayer have incredible background art/environments and they blend in well with the different art styles, so I'm not worried about that in the slightest

actually it's a very good thing that people are criticizing it !! concept trailers/art are meant to be a sort of rough draft, rather than a final version. criticism allows the creators to realize what viewers want, and can adjust accordingly.
Hopefully UFOtable can Execute what Mihoyo dreams up and envisions.

Something that I would like to see in the anime would be little slice of life episodes about the characters instead of a story with the traveler as the protagonist and looking for their sibling and pretty much all that we already seen in the game. I think it would be nice that the anime is the things the traveler didn't saw like "a day with the demon conquerer" where Chongyun and Xiao make an investigation about a misterious demon or how Xiangling could doubt if her cooking abilities are hers or just the fact that she has the prescence of the god of the kitchen and stoves. Maybe the episodes could end with the characters making a letter for the traveler about their own adventures and show that Teyvat is bigger than the traveler's view in the story quest. Idk
What would be the point of that there is no goal even slice of life animes have goals and actually have a reason to mesh with one another? That would be extremely boring if you have no character to focus on or there story to focus on you simply can't progress the story
@@Keliciabrat yeah but the game already does that for us. honestly, i think they should pull something like mlp did- where its a slow story progression over "arcs" into which slice of life episodes are mixed in but still have relevance. That way we can have character interactions that don't hyperfocus on the traveler but also have them serve a purpose.

Then Maxor came with his Genshin review video and while Genshin story might be some "hyperborean bs" as he put it, it still has a lot of anime storyline potential... especially if its a prequel. It's basically an Isekai so I smell success. Genshin for Isekai Quartet when?
Now other games that should get animes: Crystar, Warcraft, DNF Duel (did that get an anime?), Borderlands, Mabinogi, some of the Japanese RPGMaker horror games (Ib, Alicemare), and other examples that elude me now etc.
pretty sure you weren't the only one who called it. genshin from the very start, despite being a chinese IP, is very undeniably heavily influenced by anime - art style, trends, tropes, etc. not to mention one of the dubs you can play the game with is japanese, and you gotta admit that was at least partially because people love anime and have seiyuu fandoms.

Hoyoverse and genshin in particular are known for creating very good and unique stories, i have no concerns for the plot, whatever they choose to be the main focus

If Genshin anime ends up being good, Mihoyo pockets and community will increase even more and I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not. Since the game’s problems still exists after 2 years in development and I wonder if they get it fixed until then.
Honestly, the best direction the anime could take is an exploration of the pre-history ofTeyvat (phanes, the Archon War, the Cataclysm, Enkanomya, etc.)
I think a good starting point for the anime would be the manga's story, it has decent worldbuilding with mondstadt, introduces the starter characters, and the fatui, decent action scenes and so on.
At this point, I would not be surprised if the story team focused very heavily into world and character building, that at the time of them writing the Archon (mainline) quests, they're just exhausted. I think they already know how the main story will end, but they are just yet to complete the gap between the Prologue until that point.
Prologue, and Chapter 1 has nice details and plot points but they're unremarkable. Chapter 2 is way too rushed I forgot there was a civil war and Kokomi is actually considered to be a "great tactician" or something. Meanwhile, the world quests are such complete bangers like Dragonspine, Sakura tree with "Kazari", Chasm exploration with Zhiqiong, and Enkanomiya. Also, the character lore and stories are also really great, like Kazuha's, Raiden Shogun's, and Zhongli's.
Anyway, now I have a reason not to die yet until Genshin anime is released
I see a lot of people speculating on whether the story is going to be set in the past or during the archon quest. What I hope would happen is they make several series running parallel with one another, with a main series following along with archon quest and as the plot develops and lore is revealed, some spin off series branch off to tell the story of what happened in the past in a given period of time, be it about a certain event or just showing a certain character's backstory. This way, the audience who has never played the game and new players who just started playing will get to experience the main game's story and discover the world's lore along with the traveler, while more veteran players who are more familiar with the game's lore can also look forward to some new stories. Win-win for all.
Given how popular Genshin is, I don't see a scenario where the anime could be BAD, but the question is how good will it be? You already know the animation will be simply stunning with Ufotable on the job, and Ufotable with Genshin's budget? I think we're gonna see some of the best 2D style animation ever. The only question is the story, how will they handle making an anime with a cast of 50 and growing characters? I don't think it will be bad but will it just be good or will they pull it off and the story is amazing? Either way I think the anime will provide a huge boost to the Genshin playerbase
1:40 Remember Tales of Zestiria the X anime? That one looked good but had mediocre if not boring storytelling (mostly taken from the game with some story changes that somehow made it worse). And UFOTABLE worked on it.
Whatever happens I'm sure Genshin won't end up like that one hopefully.

I would love many ideas but this might be my favourite:
Lumine (she’s basically the cannon Abyss sibling) and how she handled losing her brother and then her friends again in a different world, how Kaehneria worked and how celestia dealt with it (we get to see some gods but never their faces or any real details just see them plotting and moving a chess board) also we get to see the archons stories they’ve like side characters though since Lumine will be the MC and Dainslief will be her best friend and so yea show me that in depth show me the pain after the cataclysm happened every little detail

I hope they just make an entirely different story, some sort of spin off, with both travelers as protagonists. Something like the Sonic X anime did with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 and Sonic Battle.
I feel like using this to show the time before the Cataclysm would ruin the game’s story, which it’s going to fully reveal that anyway.
The fact that Paimon was also shown makes me hope for it.

I remember watching demon slayer outta absolute boredom and lack of better things to do. I binged all episodes available as soon as possible. Not because of the story, I legit recall telling friends that I was really annoyed at how overly dramatic it was, but I couldn't tell what kept me hooked. It wasn't until I was done with all demon slayer content and moved on to another random anime that I realized that _holy shit it was the art quality_ that kept me intrigued all that time. I didn't even bother following the anime I started next because I couldn't remember its name for the life of me but I still remember how I compared the two in my head and found myself disappointed with the latter's choppy quality.
I went on a tangent but I meant to say: whatever that studio touches will become gold. And genshin already has a great lore and cast to add to it. There's no way this anime will fail.

I have this faint yet undying hope it will be about our Sibling's travels. It would work well as a stand-alone but will also be very rewarding for those who play genshin. Mihoyo is not afraid to drop hype for stuff that will only be realeazed in years, so never know.

I’m looking forward to the anime, but I’m primarily worried about it’s handling of the plot. I wouldn’t want it to just be a retelling of the main storyline, both because that wouldn’t be as interesting as other potential options but also because I still don’t trust studios to not butcher the plot by leaving out arcs that add to the story in important ways- and considering how much time Genshin dedicates to its world building…I’m a little hesitant, I suppose. Still, if it ends up being good, then I’d love to share it with everyone I know!

Hoyoverse knows their audience and the audience they want to bring, that is why Ufotable became a big in west audience, I someone that appreciate animation and not just perfect draw still images with very realistic backgrounds and heavy filters I'm not happy with the new anime but I hope they drop that ultra realistic background and do it more like it is in the game that resembles better a good anime and blend better with the characters, my only hope is that Hoyoverse artistic team is more vocal and help to do changes and not just approve anything Ufotable give them
and I just hope that with the amount of money hoyoverse makes off of genshin (and I think honkai too), they can afford to pay the animators a decent wage and let them work normal hours...

Yes it will probably look great but i feel like the story will be mediocre at best. Overall what they have as a source material is an isekai with story that is not great and i dont talk about lore thats something diffrent.
Also they have to rewrite the whole main character so he or she does actually interacts with the people and the world and overall the story so its not stretched out, the side characters arent appealing either because whatever story backround may be most of the characters are not really defined by that, theres a clear line that the character has a stereotype and its like any other anime 123 character.
Since Ufotable really likes to go into character backstories.Genshin Impact will be one of the darkest and saddest anime to release.

My only concern about this anime if the protagonist is either Lumine or Aether, if both that's fine, I just don't want to see one of them being an abyss prince/princess, because that would upset so many fans and probably give up watching it. People are assuming since Aether is seen as the true protagonist in the game they will assume it will be him. But to me, both siblings are the true protagonists of the game no assets about it. But maybe the series will show the events before they got separated so it will put people's minds at ease.
They are both canon. Hoyoverse has said this in the past. And it's becoming increasingly clear the world is looping in some way anyways, so both of them will canonically go on a journey.

The traveler and their sibling is shown together in the trailer. Could the anime explore their pastt before they got stuck in Teyvat? The places shown there also didn't seem like they were from Teyvat, at least from any nation we have already. This is huge. Ufotable is a great studio. The anime has the potential for great fight scenes and great character development, this studio can do both.
As much as people want the anime to have a story other than just the Archon quest, that will sadly be what we will just get. Because the anime is MADE for people OUTSIDE the community already. it is supposed to bring more people into the game or bring them back and make them more active. The anime is just a treat for people who already are playing the game.
The least they can do is make Lumine the Traveler here since they made Aether the Traveler in their promos. It makes things balanced

Tbh i dont have high expectations, because some anime adapatations have either good or meh results.
Like Girls Frontline anime. The op and ed songs are good (ive been listening bad candy for months), but some inaccuracies (t-dolls' guns sounds like laser or using wrong gun), and poorly executed moments (m4a1's reaction in ep12) makes it meh that makes some shikikans scratch their heads and commit war crimes for some reasons.
But still, i hope IF s2 will come, it would become better, and they maybe they will cover Arctic Warfare and Deep Dive, and the Singularity ofc

And no genshin isn't known for its "great" story, it's very inconsistent like the ending opera scene of Shenhe's quest being genuinely great and stories like the inazuma archon quest being underwhelming if not terrible, but i do hope the anime will turn out great.

After watching the last season of Kimetsu and the trailer for Natlan i come to say that this video is still correct, and that we will have to wait a few more years after the end of the Teyvat chapter for the anime (Kimetsu trilogy).
Since genshin already has a manga series hopefully they go off of that but just my opinion
