    When I eventually go to Japan I’m definitely going to an onsen. They look so amazingly relaxing

    Subscribing and activating the bell. You've got a really cool voice and narrative skills, and the edits are great. Keep it up!

    Great video Barrett! My friend and I were planning to stay at a Hoshino in Hakone! I also really like how they incorporate the local style. It's great to see some of their other locations.

    I love to stay at an Onsen's each one has a different menu and local dishes. The only thing their slippers never fit my feet 😂😂😂😂 I felt like frankenstein.

      haha I know what you mean! I don’t have big feet but have the same problem. This one had 3 sizes so at least it was a little better ;)

    It's so beautiful, I see all of these "Why being in Japan as a foreigner is bad" videos. As mentioned in an earlier comment I think you would of course expect to be treated somewhat differently. I can't imagine though that the service and hospitality in a place like this would be anything but five star. I don't even say when I go to Japan eventually anymore because it starts to seem less likely. I want to see India but Japan is the pinnacle for me. In fact, they have this series on the Smithsonian channel about various trains around the world. I love it and my favorite had always been the Bernina express in Switzerland through the alps. I watched one however about the Seven Stars express on Kyushu. It's about 13k per person and there is a massive waiting list that only gets you an opportunity for a random drawing to "win" a seat. There are four employees per guest which is amazing. Maybe, one day perhaps???????

      Yeah, there are challenges with being a foreigner of course, but overall, service in Japan as a whole is very good. These types of places are just about perfect.
      I've heard about that train down in Kyushu. I can't afford that but it must be impressive!

    What was the deal with the big pieces of what looked like roped on the dinner plates? Was that some kind of garnish or was it edible? I've learned in Japan that things that look like one thing often are another. Looks like covid is continuing to cut into the tourist trade.

    • @barrettish
      @barrettish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a way of cooking the crab. They soak a rope in salt water, wrap it and then steam it. The shot right after it was the end result.

      @@barrettish No kidding? Only the Japanese would find a way to involve a hawser in cooking a crab! :-)

      haha yeah, it was the first time I’ve seen and had that. It was good though!
