EDIT: -you are a skate 3 hater! : No I'm playing this game since the day it came out and truly love it. Skate 3 still is my favourite game, this video is simply there to show that sadly some of skate 2's nice features got rid of in skate 3. -Realistic Challenges: I understand that some people like these unrealistic challenges more so I admit that this one is very biased. -Big Black: Many people argue that i can't complain that skate 3 is unrealistic if i like Big Black who bounces up in the air. But Big Black is only playable in freeskate and therefore has no effect on the realism of the challenges. I just want to point out that it is kinda sad that they got rid of this fun feature in skate 3. -Build your own spot: Sure in skate 3 you basically can build you own spot by building your own park ...but my point is that they again got rid of this nice feature...why not park building and your own spot ? -Skate stoppers: It is not a bad thing that everything in skate 3 is already skateable ...it still was an extra challenge to make everything skateable in skate 2 ...one fun challenge less. -No sewage covers: This is just another example to show that skate 3 doesn't feel so alive like skate 2. I understand that some of you might not care so much about the details, big black or special mission, but for me these things show that the developer put their heart in to skate 2. No matter what view you have, please be respectful to those who have a different view.
Schade das keine guten games mehr kommen. Sowas fehlt total find ich. Hauptsache jedes Jahr cod und Assassins greed... und irgendwelche korea spiele die nie fertig werden. traurig ey.
OSO OSO Not at all, ask players that have actually played the series since they came out and almost all will tell you that Skate 2 was a better game. I've played both skate 2 and skate 3 for probably 2,000 hours each and love both games but skate 2 was much better in almost every way
Honestly one thing that Skate 2 had over 3 is that the world was against skating. Security guards and skate stoppers everywhere, it felt like you were rebelling against something. Skate 3s world LOVED skating, almost a bit too much.
THAW wasn't made to be realistic, not to mention it was made in 2005. skate 3 was made in 2010/2011 yet they chose to use basically ps2 graphics. the skate series was made to be realistic from day one, this is when they scrapped that and made at best a mediocre game
Skate 2 feels like you're skating in the real world whereas skate 3 feels like a skating simulator. However, skate 3 does feel nicer to skate in. Hopefully, skate 4 will have the right balance as they have had 11 years to develop it instead of 1 year.
I mean yeah there's a big gap from skate 3 to the announcement of skate 4 but it's more then likely been in development for the last year or 2 at best to me I don't think we were ever gonna see a skate 4 and we only are now because Tony hawk made a come back and there was session and skater xl so EA probably thought it was best to do another skate game . Just my opinion tho
I have a bad feeling about skate 4, almost as if they won’t incorporate anything from the other skate games and lean towards making it look good/realistic. Hopefully I’m wrong, skate franchise is my all time favorite.
@@Josue-vt9iw It'll cost $60 for Skate 4, $1000 to download Skate 4, $7000 to buy a skater default, $500 for a t-shirt, $700 for pants, $3000 for a SkateBoard
While I agree with most of these points there’s something to be said, it really depends on what kind of game you’re looking for. Skate 2 has better quality of life and realistic elements for street skating, while skate 3 focuses more on the huge mega parks. If your looking for a cool realistic street skating game then skate 2 is better by far, but if you want to drop 100 feet and go flying into 3 front flips, skate 3 is your game. It’s all up to preference.
One thing I really miss from Skate 1 and 2, that wasn't in 3, was the Security/Cop Zones. It was kind of fun to plan out your line and wait for the right moment they wouldn't catch you. While annoying at times, it made the places seem more realistic and alive.
True, and the map was just so much more realistic and immersive. Skate 3s maps look so fake and set up to be skated which takes away a lot of the fun in finding cool and unique spots to do tricks just like in real life. Also the fact that the map was all connected in skate 2 meant you could just keep skating for hours where as in skate 3 I hated being confined to little zones
The outro makes me want to cry.. you did a perfect job showcasing the amazing detail and atmosphere that Skate 2 holds. There’s no other skating game like it, not even close.
If they were more patient with skate 3, like instead of rushing and releasing it in 2010 they should’ve waited and did maybe a 2012 release. I feel like more of skate 2’s realism really would’ve made a huge difference. Also they should’ve brought back the phone from skate 1, always really liked that concept
one of my best friends, who showed me skate and played endless hours of the game with me, died last year. every time i even see a screenshot from skate 2 it brings me right back to those great times. fun track is the shit.
@@cartercolson7975 unless they just copy the Big Black from Skate 2 and paste it to Skate 4 or something, kinda like what Guitar Hero 5 did to Kurt Cobain.
Graphic aren't everything but I hate it when a previous game has better graphics then the recent one. Skate 2 had a more realistic city. Skate 3 felt like some fake movie set? everything felt really WIDE I guess since its focus was players playing with others online they didn't want skaters bumping into each other.
That was kind of the point though, as I wrote in my long comment: Skate 3 is built more like a skater's utopia, while Skate 2 and 1 are cities with a LOT of spots. Skate 1 and 2 have cities I'd move in to. Skate 3 is a place I'd go to every once in a while to just skate. Skate 3 is set through a wide-angle lens (look at the edges in-game) so that's probably why.
I've been playing both games for a long time and i can say that you really feel like you're in a city in Skate 2, especially if you consider your main goal in the game is making yourself known as a skater and earning money to build a skatepark in the middle of the city (monster clubhouse) whereas in Skate 3, it feels like you're in a huge skatepark that happens to have some buildings and cars inside it. The comparison of the Megaparks points this out pretty good. In Skate 2 it looks like Danny Way and his friends grabbed a hammer and some nails and went to work on the mountainside. In Skate 3 however, it's just another big ass park you can recreate in the in-game feature. What I mean by all this is that Skate 2 has an authenticity to it. The camera angles of the games (fisheye lens in skate 2) are enough to prove this. So if you wanna feel like an actual skater and film some clips that look like old parts from the early '90s, Skate 2 is the game for you. But of course, you can always go to Skate 3 if you want to do a quad heelflip dark catch miracle whip frontflip 540 down a 30-stair.
@@dwighthalpert8364 oh sorry i just thought you were getting offended cause he called the character black my apologizes dude its just im used to alot of people getting offended on the internet by loads of things so i was kind of making a joke and asking why you were getting offended. Like i said my apologizes dude i hope you have a good day.
But if you really look into it, the game is meant for optimization. There are certain things like the door sizing that were basically rushed, and the 2D crowd along with bushes that are images, just make it seem unfinished. Skate 2 really looks like there was time actually spent working on the environment and trying to make it actually look like a town that you would pass by. With Skate 3 there are no visible exits, just a grass boundary. Also, they the attention that they spent on Skate 3 is much less compared to Skate 2. You can't go out of bounds for more than 30 feet, and if you do, you are teleported back into the playable area. But if you walk off the road you can find new spots that you can actually use and not just completely ignore. Skate 3 in terms of tricks is practically the same as Skate 2. What did we get new? Dog Piss.
@@builderblizzard its called optimization bro. I cant defend the door thing, but everything else is so the game can run smoother. Skate 2 runs at 30 fps where as skate 3 is 60fps. The cap at 30 gave them a lot more leeway for graphical enhancements and things like polish. Skate 3, because they chose to make it a 60fps game, there had to be sacrifices to trade off as a more responsive skate experience. Things like the bushes and the audience are most likely not “rushed” and “unpolished” theyre probably like that so the game can get more fps. In otherwords they downscaled the graphics so the game can run better. It doesnt look great but its what they had to do for the 60fps.
Skate two just feels more... alive. Probably something to do with the art style and details akin to, say, The Walking Dead(TTG), or Borderlands 2. Sure, it's not perfectly realistic, lacks a handful of elements compared to other versions of practically the same game, and really aren't coded to be seal tight; but damn to they have a soul.
This video has made me realize how I miss the old consoles. What a good games, especially fun and free online. (PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii) Thank you so much for the video, i miss old days.
I think a big amount of people like skate 3 because its so silly and buggy. Not because its a genuine hardcore skating game. Skate 3 has made some of the funniest lets plays on youtube.
Skate 2 was actually challenging. It took me months of probably constant gameplay (which wasn't even totally possible due to school and shit). I still haven't beaten every little thing in Skate 2. In Skate 3, it took me less than a month with the same conditions to beat it. I sold my copy of Skate 3 when I realized it wasn't as good. I eventually bought it again just because, and I ended up beating it even quicker than before. Skate 2 actually has some sort of story. Skate 3 has barely anything. It's like they didn't put any effort into Skate 3. That's not saying much because Skate 2 is just a re-hashed version of San Van from Skate 1 (except they took out a lot of the more unique and otherwise cool elements of the city), but I digress. Another thing that shows how little they gave a fuck when making Skate 3 -- it came out only a year after Skate 2. Skate 2 came out 2 years after Skate 1. Skate 2 seemed to be genuine and actually had a lot of care put into it. Skate 3 just feels so far removed from Skate 1 and Skate 2. Blackbox wasn't a good developer by any means, but when they really tried in the first two games, it showed. I mean, Skate 2 felt much more organic. Skate 3 felt more synthetic.
The Mad Hattress Totally agree :) Skate 2 took Me months to complete but when skate 3 came out it took me like 3days to finish it...and I remember how disappointed I was because of the ending which didn't felt like a real ending ... Skate 3 could have been a very good game if they just wouldn't have rushed it so fast ... One thing I just now realized is that in skate 2 you actually unlock new parks (fun track, GvR, training park etc) but in skate 3 you barely get anything for beating the game ...
yeah there so much more to do in skate 2. after i switched from xBox to PS I had to replay skate 3 to unlock everything and I finished it in somewhere between 6 and 7 hours on normal mode. killing every challenge possible + dlc :(
@@retr0893 Listen, the game is great an all, but it just had some things that weren't as great. For example the 2D crowd, it could've been a 3D crowd but it wasnt.
Hecking Hecker I think skate 1 and 3s tone was better better because I think bright colors is better. Also, I have never seen a part with a "gloomy" atmosphere. If you have one, send me the link!
look at session - a skateboard game that is in the looks of early development and have already got the hang of building a catch simulation towards a more realistic game
Black box: "So guys, this is going to be skate 3. It's still in its early stage but we'll only need few months so that..." EA: "nah we released it 2 months ago"
The unrealistic challenges in skate 3 is what I think makes the game more fun. Think about it, what's more fun, doing a kickflip over a couple of stairs or dropping down 30 feet into a ramp and analing yourself?
basically 3 is a bad game in the franchise, the idea Of the first game was to reply to Tony Hawk "Hey!! You don't need a crazy game Of skateboard for be enjoyed, realism is possible" Because the cool thing about skate irl is that Even if it's an Ollie you feel amazed by that trick because it needs a skill to do it Skate can be fun IRL and gaming without being exagerated
KeymonZz the ending montage is meant to be a moment to remember how good and beautiful skate 2 was :) I'm really glad about all the comments (I actually was kinda scared to upload this haha)
Personally, I like Skate 2 better than Skate 3, but I feel like you didn't really give justice here, and like you ignored some stuff, some that you maybe didn't even know about. The loading screens: I agree New/Hidden areas: In Skate 3, go to the quarry, go down it and on the second stone quarterpipes, behind some bush, hidden pathway. Poles: There are less poles and hydrants in Skate 3, but the fire hydrants on the grass down to the carvatron bowl are just fine, there are also some yellow poles in the Industrial District that are skatable, but not easy, much like hydrants in real life. Challenges: There are realistic challenges in both games, you also compared a tutorial to a challenge later in the game, which just isn't a fair comparison. BB: True, but he wasn't a skater. Physics: You seem to have been in Easy mode, when Normal is the same physics as Skate 2, in my testing, on Normal mode, I fell unless I went really slow, when you're going as slow as I was, I'd say it's fair, because of this trick IRL called "Firecracker", in the "Go fast against a curb" test, I wouldn't say any of them are realistic at all, I'd say both are equally unrealistic but on different ends of the spectrum (basing that judgement on a real life experience). Layout: I agree. BYOS: In Skate 3 you can physically make your own spot, it doesn't need an online function to work. Skate stoppers: The stories are VASTLY different, that's the reason for this, in Skate 3, skateboarding is a widely spectated and accepted sport, in Skate 2 it's practically illegal. Spillway(Sewer): While it is true, I'd rather compare the Skate 2 spillway to the spillway in Skate 3, rather than the university ditch, even though it is still true. Sewage cover: I'm not gonna go and look for sewage covers, but I can't recall seeing any, this is just lazy texture work, but it might be because of a budget cut, or time pressure, I'm not gonna put the blame on Black Box for this. Street construction: Can't recall seeing any in Skate 3, but I can't recall noticing in Skate 2 either. Tunnels: There are tunnels in Skate 3, if you turn around from the Daly Estates spawn and walk up, there's a tunnel on your skater's right hand side, but the reason you don't see them as much is because the game is a LOT more open, with wide areas to skate in etc.. Crowd: True, but an explanation for why will come later in the comment*. Door sizing: In some places, doors tend to be too big in Skate 3, that is very true. Reflections and details overall: All of this is true*. Megapark: True, but we've also had the same megapark two games in a row, and the Skate 3 one was a lot less linear. City: Skate 3 has 3 maps though. *: A lot of these downgrades was made to improve the framerate and the more sluggish-feeling controls of Skate 2, Skate 3 is a lot more responsive, therefore, when I ask people "Skate 1, 2, 3 or IT?" The most frequent answer I get is "Skate 1 & Skate 2 with the controls of Skate 3...wtf is Skate IT?" Final words: The worlds of Skate 1/2 and Skate 3 are vastly different. The worlds of Skate 1/2 are real cities with a bunch of skate spots scattered EVERYWHERE, a city that would make any street skater happy, vert skaters do kinda get left out though. The world of Skate 3 is built more as a skater's utopia, also, vert/bowl skaters get a lot more stuff. Personally, I love both games, and like Skate 2 and 1 a slight bit more, but that's because it feels like the tricks go a bit smoother together and I feel like the games flow a bit better.
Yeah i don’t get why he said that in the video it was super random like you want to spend in game money for that even though it shouldn’t be there and what does he mean when he said it was s challenge of course it was you couldn’t skate it
It was to make it feel more realistic and skate 3 was honestly just dry and boring, it was too empty and small. In skate 1 and 2 the world seemed way more alive when compared to skate 3. The only thing that made skate 3 decent were the funny glitches, besides that it was just an extremely watered down version of skate 2
Realistic challenges should always be a thing. In these games it's too easy to get lost in the exagerattion and power trip, and forget how awesome a real life kick-flip over a 5 set of stairs is.
It makes sense. Skate 1 was poc skate 2 got stuff fixed & additional features & 3 was just a cheap af cash grab that got no love put into it. Not even worth pirating skate 3 imo.
Kmate 98 like the director of EA said, they are looking to base this game purely off of the fans feedback and what they want to see in the game so I actually have a little hope and faith that they are going to develop this game good
Superman Glitch on Skate 2 made it so you could make the most insane gaps off rooftops and whatnot not to mention the killer grind pop and revert pop glitches that pretty much was no gravity mode and hella fun AF. I broke Skate 2 as you can tell from all my uploads lmao.
Man this video speaks to my heart. people will never know how great skate 2 was and when 3 came out it was a total let down. I don’t mind ppl liking skate 3 but if you honestly played skate 2 during its life cycle and played the hell out of it like I did. Then you know there is a huge difference between good and great!
Skate 2 made me fall in love with skateboarding, I have so many memories of coming home from primary school and playing it. The Skate series is the only game series that I've played over and over again and still come back to. I was lucky I guess to not have a copy of Skate 3 with all the bugs in it, but I still preferred the grit from Skate 2's environments. I don't understand why EA hasn't made the sequel everyone has begged for. If money was their main concern (which it probably is), Skate 4 would make them a shit tone of money. I just hope that if they do make it, that it doesn't take the unrealistic route and make it like a Tony Hawk game where the only goal is to make the biggest combo score.
I think Skate 2 was the best of the series in my opinion. The tricks looked the best in that game. The walking and moving objects mechanics were a little glitchy but fix that and give us a park creator, I think it would be the best skateboarding game ever.
When skate 4 comes out, I'll buy the season pass, the lootboxes, the custom paid skins, the costumes, the map packs, the multiplayer.......... oh and i guess I'll buy the disk, doesn't have much content though :(
I think it's just a matter of taste, you want a more realistic and detailed street skating experience, buy skate 2, if you want a more hilarious experience, with more adrenaline, big jumps and speed, you have skate 3
That outro man. It's like a love letter to the older games. Back when that magic was still there, at least for me. Maybe I feel this way because I'm buying the old stuff back again soon, but you nailed that feeling for me with that bit at the end. I fucking love gaming.
Skate 2 had an epicness feeling.. mate this emotionnal ending almost made me cry hahaha, I went back 9 years ago when I was a little child :) thank you
1. The fact that everything i skateable isn't really bad. its a skateboard game, dude. Plus the city, Port Carverton was purposely made very skateable. 2. That large empty road was meant for going at a high speed in 1 general direction. 3. "no sewage covers"? you can't be serious, bro.
David Ahmad the sewage covers and some other things in the video may seem minor but it's all part of the attention to detail, details can make a game look so much better
While I agree he may be right about 2 being better then 3, the majority of his reason seem really petty and stupid haha 2 is better cause it has a certain character in it? 2 is better cause the loading screen is animated? Wtf haha
Chris_htepO - nah dude it shows that there was more love put into skate 2. Also the fact that skate 3 didn't include big black is a travesty and low key racist
Salt Lord i actually never really played skate 2 and im not saying skate 3 is better. But some points made in the video weren't really that much worth mentioning. And yeah i actually do skate.
imo i think the extremeism in 3 is what makes it so good. I know it might give people unrealistic expectations for skating, but i think it's one thing that video games are great for, doing things you can't do regularly.
nah skate 2 runs at 60fps most of the time he just had his fps capped. i think unlocking the fps on ps3 causes a lot of screen tearing for some reason.
Skate 2 is not stable 60fps but close to it. I don't like how customizable skateparks in skate 3 are capped to 30fps. There isn't park editor in skate 2 so can't compare.
Dude skate 2, was truly when the peek of gaming was. We had the good cods, skate games, nuke town, We got rob and big on MTV and jackass.. Imsomewhere along the way we stopped trying to make things fun... all these games now days sucks and it's sad out of the 100 games I have on my pc, I'd rather download a ps3 emulator and play a solo game... I miss the skate games man.. they were so good for the time and we still don't have a great game like skate 2. I love 3 and 2 but personally I had the most fun with skate 1 and 2. Seeing the opening cut scenes for the very first time.... it had me captivated from the moment the disc entered the console. And then you put a skating game right behind a bad ass intro, and I was absolutely hooked man... seems like forever since we've had anything good skate related. And I truly hope the devs finish 4 soon. I truly wanna be able to play 1 last skate game before I die
I have a lot of memories with Skate 2, and when I wasn’t playing it I was watching my brother play it. Something about skating through the city made me feel like a dirty hobo, especially when I bailed into a dumpster. Very fun game.
I love the whole series but skate 2s physics story and clothes are my favorite I love how on some boards they have grip art also oh yeah and there’s security so it’s way more realistic
skate 2 has a great open world where sometimes i still find new areas to this day. and people dont understand that skate 2 really has a much higher skill ceiling, you can play it like skate 3, zooming down the map and getting big air, but you need to visualize how to keep the momentum of your board forward and to land in a transition from high heights otherwise you will fall, in skate 3 it just says sketchy landing and deduces some points. skate 2 feels much more satisfying once you understand its mechanics. skate 3 honestly is a more mindless experience and people might not like the truth
Let be honest EA only made skate 3 to give us park.editor If skate 2 had park editor and the graphic creator for skate 2 still worked they wouldnt have made a skate 3, they basically sold us a creation tool that's it, no other major improvements from skate 3 if anything was a downgrade! Skate 2 %100 is the winner of the franchise Good thing, Project: Sessions coming out, That's like skate 2 & Tony hawks proving ground combined :D EDIT: Skate 2 was also more fitted for a hardcore styled skater, Skate 3 was too kid friendly and trick line friendly and drew a very thin line between the skate franchise and tony hawks, skate 2 couldn't have been any further from tony hawks if the devs tried, Skate 3 on the other hand, well we all know how people play that game is played these days, Like hands have aids and the only cure is to spam them buttons and sticks for a trick line... xD
SCD Media Skate 3 was made to surf over the buzz made by skate 2.. there is 13 month separating them, they only had time to wack off the old school graphic style, the complexity of the environement, the beautifulness of the city and the overall quality..
Lucas Pizza this back my point I don't see why your adding... to the end of your comment lol! as I stated there was not much if any improvement what so ever and this video comparison shows just that, your comment also back exactly what im saying up aswell, I'm confused as to what purpose your comment is supposed to serve tbh?... Any who like I said if skate 2 had a park editor witch anyone who followed the black box devs back when the company was still a company would have know this was going to be put into skate 2 but wasn't for 2 reasons 1: Dead line in realse date of the game ( Idea of skate.park creator was pitched to late into the development of the game ) 2: This reason is because f reason one, Not enough time due to publishing dead line implement and finalise the skate.park create tool was all to little to late... So they gave us it in skate 3 with a more dimmed down version of skate 2 trying to throw our focus off alot of key elements skate 3 didn't have and didn't perform aswell skate 2 by simply changing the map, dimming down the graphics and physics slightly, Upgrading the graphics creator website slightly & giving us a few more things todo online... As this video proves and my comment skate 3 wouldn't have been needed or made if the park creator and the few xtra online feature were adding into skate 2... Instead of delaying the sale publish date witch EA wouldn't allow for alot of legal reason and creating a fuss with them & instead of giving us it as DLC cause really you can't ask $40 for a creation tool that was planned to be in the game (Skate 2) anyways they gave us a new map, the tool tweaked a few things & said here we go guys wallah... Skate 3...The End (Of a franchise)
That's my biggest problem with Skate 2, not just the orange filter but the overall game feels really dark, not a comfy place to free roam in. It has a very dark and almost apocalyptic feeling at some points lol. Skate 3 world feels much more cosy.
Larxian Thank god I'm not the only one who feels that way!! Did that bother you about GTA 4 as well? Just curious because I found GTA 4 to be too dark as well.
Brilliant Breakdown. Standing Ovation on this comparison...the music really sends it home too. You can tell you really love the series and keep it dear to your gaming heart!
Preface: I like Skate 2 better than Skate 3. Some of the stuff you point out is definitely valid, but there's a lot of inconsequential things, such as the animated start screen and animated loading screens. Some people would prefer to have a loading screen where they can read stuff they didn't know could be done in the game, and people who are intimately familiar with the game can ignore it. The loading isn't that long anyway. Also the challenges point you bring up to me is easily debatable. I actually love the challenges of Skate 3 because it makes it ups the anti like a sequel should, and they're fun. When I finally pull off a crazy challenge, I have a sense of accomplishment that feels good. The falling animations of Skate 3 make sense if you play a lot of Hall of Meat challenges, especially online. They're ridiculously fun and are amplified by the exaggerated animations. Skate stoppers that can be removed is a cool idea but I don't see why it's a bad thing to be able to save the currency you earn and not have to spend it on watching a short video before you can skate one rail. I'd rather not have my session interrupted with a $100 cut-scene. Also, there are clouds in Skate 3. The stuff that actually matters to me would be practical stuff that actually effects game play. The environmental discovery. Skate 2 definitely did this better, and the invisible boundaries of Skate 3 are really annoying. The customization in these games is honestly wack, but especially in Skate 3; it feels really rushed, like it was an after-thought. And the fact that the crowds are cardboard cutouts is just pathetic. Skate 2 actually did have better graphics in a lot of aspects, and felt more atmospheric. The environment feels way more lived-in. If I were a real skater, I'd prefer to skate in the world of Skate 2.
Better or not, both are brilliant no argument there and we all should agree non of them are “better” it’s all about preference and I honestly prefer skate 3 because I have more memories with it, thanks skate franchise for making consistently good games.
Daniko that would just be lazy. Also the last skate was nearly 10 years ago. I’ll start believing that skate 4 exists when Half Life 2 Episode 3 comes out
Having went back to both games around the time this was uploaded, there's so much I preferred in skate 2 compared to 3. They made a lot of moves are chore to do in 3 like flips, but at the same time, 3 manages to be a more smooth and easy to pick up experience. Honestly, the only thing that stops 2 from really being my favorite is how bad it performs. 3 is a downgrade graphically, but that's because it manages to keep a solid 60fps most of the time, and in a skateboarding game, fast pace is a huge part. I still love 2, but I love 3 just a wee bit more because it doesn't start dying once I reach a city, and some of the challenges are more fun. Not S2 Death Race fun, but still. However, with emulation, maybe my judgement will change. MAYBE, skate 2 will have improved performance as the result of an emulator. We've seen this happen quite a bit with PS2 and GC. For real though, this is a well made vid. Not enough in-depth comparisons out there, and you don't even go about it in a mean way, just factual.
@@cryezen There was no Skate 4D you moron. If you meant Skate 2 sorry that game was complete trash. Within the first few hours I returned it. Why because they fucked the game up. The rotation speed was all wrong. It was impossible to do a 720 or 900 on a vert ramp regardless if you had enough speed. The saying goes "If its not broke than dont fix it". The rotation was back to normal in the 3rd game.
Overall skate 2 is a better game, physics are better as well as the overall gameplay, landing a trick was more satisfying. Plus it looks better, compared to each other skate 3 feels like it was rushed.
I feel like Skate. and Skate 2 are the more realistic more gritty games, and Skate 3 is more "fuck it, it's a videogame, you wanna Ollie off the roof of a university, do 700 flips, land on someone and start fighting them without any reprocussions, do it!"
EDIT:
-you are a skate 3 hater! : No I'm playing this game since the day it came out and truly love it. Skate 3 still is my favourite game, this video is simply there to show that sadly some of skate 2's nice features got rid of in skate 3.

Should of just had a Ghost feature set so you go threw a player to not cause in game confliction?
ModPallet yea lol skate 2 graphics is low key better
its fun how people fall on the streets randomly skate 3 has more bugs AND THAT is waht makes the game fun
yeah, just NPCs. so anoying when skating a bowl or spot and a NPC skater just gets in the way
I've been playing both games for a long time and i can say that you really feel like you're in a city in Skate 2, especially if you consider your main goal in the game is making yourself known as a skater and earning money to build a skatepark in the middle of the city (monster clubhouse) whereas in Skate 3, it feels like you're in a huge skatepark that happens to have some buildings and cars inside it. But of course, you can always go to Skate 3 if you want to do a quad heelflip dark catch miracle whip frontflip 540 down a 30-stair.
yeah i agree but skate 2 has no park editor
They are both amazing games. I think skate 2 is slightly better than skate 3

I'd say skate 3 is a lot more polished and cleaner than skate 2. In terms of tricks etc
Dog Piss.
bro?
You stupid
@@AIeNaz no, but really, underflips and dark catches were a nice addition

The Mad Hattress Totally agree :)
Skate 2 took Me months to complete but when skate 3 came out it took me like 3days to finish it...and I remember how disappointed I was because of the ending which didn't felt like a real ending ...
Skate 3 could have been a very good game if they just wouldn't have rushed it so fast ...
One thing I just now realized is that in skate 2 you actually unlock new parks (fun track, GvR, training park etc) but in skate 3 you barely get anything for beating the game ...
The Mad Hattress hiii

The unrealistic challenges in skate 3 is what I think makes the game more fun. Think about it, what's more fun, doing a kickflip over a couple of stairs or dropping down 30 feet into a ramp and analing yourself?
Both, but the games were designed and created for only one of those ideas. So that idea should be the focus.

If you liked Skate 3 than you gotta get Skate 2!! It's a million times better and the bails are sooo much more realistic!
Personally, I like Skate 2 better than Skate 3, but I feel like you didn't really give justice here, and like you ignored some stuff, some that you maybe didn't even know about.
The loading screens: I agree
New/Hidden areas: In Skate 3, go to the quarry, go down it and on the second stone quarterpipes, behind some bush, hidden pathway.
*: A lot of these downgrades was made to improve the framerate and the more sluggish-feeling controls of Skate 2, Skate 3 is a lot more responsive, therefore, when I ask people "Skate 1, 2, 3 or IT?" The most frequent answer I get is "Skate 1 & Skate 2 with the controls of Skate 3...wtf is Skate IT?"
Final words: The worlds of Skate 1/2 and Skate 3 are vastly different.
PMGames such a good comment

Yeah i don’t get why he said that in the video it was super random like you want to spend in game money for that even though it shouldn’t be there and what does he mean when he said it was s challenge of course it was you couldn’t skate it
It makes it more realistic
There was a plot reason for why everything wasn't skateable in skate 2. And skate 3 didn't have that reason. So, yeah I don't get it either tbh
That's why i actually prefer skate 1 to the sequels.

“Door sizing made me realize how bad this game is” “door sizing made me hate this game”

No skate 3
Guess what
Marco Polo no it’s that in 1839 the first ever picture of a women was taken
skate 4 has been announced :)
if skate 4 doesn't have the right door sizing i'm not buying it.
Reminded me of a hobbit
Skate 2 was when EA still gave a shit about games instead of microtransactions
EA didn't make the game
PMGames but they were part of the games development (as they overlooked it as the publisher)
Well they didn’t have micro transactions in their games just yet then, but as long as I remember Skate 3 needed more time.
kubamax9 Kubowski they did have dlcs for Skate 2 though. So they did have microtransactions
PMGames That’s DLC. Microtransactions is something totally different.
I think Skate 2 was the best of the series in my opinion. The tricks looked the best in that game. The walking and moving objects mechanics were a little glitchy but fix that and give us a park creator, I think it would be the best skateboarding game ever.
When skate 4 comes out, I'll buy the season pass, the lootboxes, the custom paid skins, the costumes, the map packs, the multiplayer..........
oh and i guess I'll buy the disk, doesn't have much content though :(
Darruler skate 4 won't come out
Zackary Christian YOU DONT KNOW THAT 😭😭😭😭
Look up Session. A realistic skating game is being developed.
eh
Fi3Rz Moose Blackbox is no longer a company so even if they do make S4 it won’t be as good as the old ones
I think it's just a matter of taste, you want a more realistic and detailed street skating experience, buy skate 2, if you want a more hilarious experience, with more adrenaline, big jumps and speed, you have skate 3
Skate 3 sucks
@@SimbolicProductions right? went from skate to Tony Hawk pro skater real quick
Feels the same for saints row 2 and 3 😭
Damn dude giving be nostalgia for a game I never even owned
I think It would be a great idea to make Skate 4 for xbox one and Ps4 with ultra graphics
Who agrees?
nobody
Shut up
If you don’t have anything good to say don’t say it
if it'd be as good as skate 2 and with normal, good graphics, sure. playability is more important that graphics.
skate 2 remake with new content added would be cool
ultra graphics on console lmao
There was probably a lower budget for skate 3
hello gais That literally has nothing to do with it, it isn’t lacking anything they are just different
I agree
It did as time went on skate games were getting less popular
That would have a lot to do with it
Ty could have been anything from yes budget all the way to dead line, we'll never know.
That outro man. It's like a love letter to the older games. Back when that magic was still there, at least for me. Maybe I feel this way because I'm buying the old stuff back again soon, but you nailed that feeling for me with that bit at the end.
I fucking love gaming.
Skate 2 had an epicness feeling.. mate this emotionnal ending almost made me cry hahaha, I went back 9 years ago when I was a little child :) thank you
Lucas Pizza thats me when i wss chilld to! But then i played skate 3😝
Same here guys. The nostalgia is real
I agree. Skate 2 is much better than skate 3. I actually have skate 3 and i want skate 2 but i'm too lazy to buy.
Lenni skates lmao I'm going soon to buy skate 2. The map is suited more for realistic skating
Lenni skates same here bro
You can buy from the ps store if you have playstation or in some gameshops
Lenni skates same
I couldnt find it at gamestop or any shop so i ordered it from amazon.
1. The fact that everything i skateable isn't really bad. its a skateboard game, dude. Plus the city, Port Carverton was purposely made very skateable.
2. That large empty road was meant for going at a high speed in 1 general direction.
3. "no sewage covers"? you can't be serious, bro.
David Ahmad if you actually like skate 3 more then 2 you obviously don't skate in real life
David Ahmad the sewage covers and some other things in the video may seem minor but it's all part of the attention to detail, details can make a game look so much better
I just feel like one was meant to be cooler and realistic and one was meant to be more fun and goof
imo i think the extremeism in 3 is what makes it so good. I know it might give people unrealistic expectations for skating, but i think it's one thing that video games are great for, doing things you can't do regularly.
You probably don't skate that's why
Unless its trying to be a gaming sim which I think is the point of skate game, atleast I think

skate 2 > most parts are in 30fps
skate 3 > 60fps
i really like both tho
Could be cause Skate 2 was released in 2008-2009
nah skate 2 runs at 60fps most of the time he just had his fps capped. i think unlocking the fps on ps3 causes a lot of screen tearing for some reason.
Skate 2 is not stable 60fps but close to it.
I don't like how customizable skateparks in skate 3 are capped to 30fps.
There isn't park editor in skate 2 so can't compare.

Yeah, gta 4 is more realistic while gta v is more fun.
Glad to read this man 💕 you get it
Ok congratulations
I have a lot of memories with Skate 2, and when I wasn’t playing it I was watching my brother play it. Something about skating through the city made me feel like a dirty hobo, especially when I bailed into a dumpster. Very fun game.
I love the whole series but skate 2s physics story and clothes are my favorite I love how on some boards they have grip art also oh yeah and there’s security so it’s way more realistic
Skate 3 and Skate 2 are amazing in their own ways, why not buy both?

skate 2 has a great open world where sometimes i still find new areas to this day. and people dont understand that skate 2 really has a much higher skill ceiling, you can play it like skate 3, zooming down the map and getting big air, but you need to visualize how to keep the momentum of your board forward and to land in a transition from high heights otherwise you will fall, in skate 3 it just says sketchy landing and deduces some points. skate 2 feels much more satisfying once you understand its mechanics. skate 3 honestly is a more mindless experience and people might not like the truth
It’s super hard for me to pick between skate 1 and 2 😢
Let be honest EA only made skate 3 to give us park.editor If skate 2 had park editor and the graphic creator for skate 2 still worked they wouldnt have made a skate 3, they basically sold us a creation tool that's it, no other major improvements from skate 3 if anything was a downgrade!
Skate 2 %100 is the winner of the franchise
Good thing, Project: Sessions coming out, That's like skate 2 & Tony hawks proving ground combined :D
EDIT: Skate 2 was also more fitted for a hardcore styled skater, Skate 3 was too kid friendly and trick line friendly and drew a very thin line between the skate franchise and tony hawks, skate 2 couldn't have been any further from tony hawks if the devs tried, Skate 3 on the other hand, well we all know how people play that game is played these days, Like hands have aids and the only cure is to spam them buttons and sticks for a trick line...
Any who like I said if skate 2 had a park editor witch anyone who followed the black box devs back when the company was still a company would have know this was going to be put into skate 2 but wasn't for 2 reasons
1: Dead line in realse date of the game ( Idea of skate.park creator was pitched to late into the development of the game )
2: This reason is because f reason one, Not enough time due to publishing dead line implement and finalise the skate.park create tool was all to little to late...
So they gave us it in skate 3 with a more dimmed down version of skate 2 trying to throw our focus off alot of key elements skate 3 didn't have and didn't perform aswell skate 2 by simply changing the map, dimming down the graphics and physics slightly,
Upgrading the graphics creator website slightly & giving us a few more things todo online...
As this video proves and my comment skate 3 wouldn't have been needed or made if the park creator and the few xtra online feature were adding into skate 2...
Instead of delaying the sale publish date witch EA wouldn't allow for alot of legal reason and creating a fuss with them
& instead of giving us it as DLC cause really you can't ask $40 for a creation tool that was planned to be in the game (Skate 2) anyways they gave us a new map, the tool tweaked a few things & said here we go guys wallah...
Skate 3...The End (Of a franchise)
I do like that skate 3 doesn’t have that stupid orange filter
That's my biggest problem with Skate 2, not just the orange filter but the overall game feels really dark, not a comfy place to free roam in. It has a very dark and almost apocalyptic feeling at some points lol. Skate 3 world feels much more cosy.
The exact reason I didn’t touch skate 2 after playing the demo skate 1 and skate were great because of the colours
Now Skate 3 has a stupid blue filter
I like Skate 2's darker esthetic tbh. Skate 3 is way too bright and cartoonish.
Larxian Thank god I'm not the only one who feels that way!! Did that bother you about GTA 4 as well? Just curious because I found GTA 4 to be too dark as well.

skate 3 was a rushed game

NonsensicalVids how the hell did you just jump from skate to a totally different kind of game lmao
I feel the weird feather light stiff board feeling body physics of the falling made hall of meat way worse in Skate 3
I was a real skater in Skate 2 is definitely the better game from an authentic look and feel standpoint Skate 3 got a little arcadey
Better or not, both are brilliant no argument there and we all should agree non of them are “better” it’s all about preference and I honestly prefer skate 3 because I have more memories with it, thanks skate franchise for making consistently good games.
Skate 4 should just be a remaster of Skate 2.
Daniko that would just be lazy. Also the last skate was nearly 10 years ago. I’ll start believing that skate 4 exists when Half Life 2 Episode 3 comes out
i think it should just take elements from both skate 2 and 3 and just come up with something even more innovative and fun to play
still skate 2 is my fav
SWXRVE4K same here. Honestly skate 3 is overrated. Skate 1 or 2 is the best depending on what I’m feeling.
EA and remaster is just like Activision and free. They shouldn't be in the same sentence.
The real question is when is skate 4 coming out?
Never. Skate is dead. Go play Tony Hawk.
Charizard237 - Tony Hawk is trash
@@sethdraven4533Draven how is tony hawk trash?
i am he. In Tony Hawks underground you can *way* more than just skate.
@@sethdraven4533 Well sorry to say but it's your only choice. Skate is never coming back.
