No warning system. The landslide happened literally minutes before the first wave hit. People didn't know what the hell was happening, most were at home just chilling with dinner or at work.

Imagine, in a world with 7.7 BILLION people, all the events that happen every day around the globe across 57 million square miles of land. Now try to come up with a news report of everything that happened, everywhere, to everyone. Not possible. Some things simply can't be reported. There is just too much happening.
This tsunami doesn't seem as widespread catastrophic as others that claim hundred of thousand of lives --- but just as sad for those it effected, though.
I watched another video on this and I saw two dogs running away free of their ties altogether. I thought everyone should know that because I was so upset like everyone else. It is at the end of a different video. I think the people did go back in to save them. Also though this apparently was caused by a landslide and I feel like this happened fast and caught the people off-guard... all the land there was flat and they had to run quite a distance to get to higher ground as well. but regardless of reasons i DID see two dogs run away from the water after the waves had been striking so someone went back in to free them and at that stage definitely risked their lives to do so.
After the wave isnt risking their life, thats just making sure they survive first and then help seems pretty selfish to me. Stupid filmer filming and saying "oooh" "aah" while the dogs cry for help
I watched the videos too and I think you're giving too much credit. The dogs you see running around were already off the leash. It looks to me more like they were running back towards home only to see their homes gone and became confused. Some dogs you can see running up to the tethered ones and then they run away when the waves come back. I didn't see anybody running over to save any dogs.
I felt bad for the people until I saw that they are stupid. They know a wave is coming so they decided to stand in the danger zone to record it while they could be letting the dog of the teether and heading to high ground. People now days confuse me. They want to be famous so bad they abandon all logic.

I know the warning system probably isn't perfect. But, they had to know something was gunna happen. Why else would just start recording?
It might be a wise idea, to get yourself and family/animals to safety, before you press record..
Apparently it was caused by a nearby landslide. So yeah they wouldn't have had much, if any warming
they all started to record after or during the wave not hours before, with the exception of the geologists in the beginning.
No warning system. The landslide happened literally minutes before the first wave hit. People didn't know what the hell was happening, most were at home just chilling with dinner or at work.
I am so appalled that they had time to film this instead of spending the time releasing all the dogs... The recorder stands 5-10 meters from a tied-up dog... Shameful behaviour...
The craziest part about is why wasn't this event more widely reported?

It's crazy seeing these people remain so close to the shore through this. I would have ran to the hills.

@chi sam it sounded like the exact opposite of a rational adult but I can't stand people who get pleasure from having a chained up animal.
