  • Learn how to get around Orlando International Airport (MCO) like a local. Find out how to get to the main terminal from the air side terminal, how to find the correct baggage claim for the terminal you arrived in; and which main terminal level offers the correct ground transportation for curbside pickup, ride-sharing services, car rentals and Disney's Magical Express resort transportation. Learn how to navigate the terminal "loops" and avoid frustration when arriving back at the airport.

    The Orlando Guy: Episode 001
    Fun fact: Orlando International Airport gets it's airport code (MCO) from U.S. Air Force Col. Michael McCoy, who crashed a B-47 Stratojet on Oct. 9, 1957 out of what was then called Pinecastle Air Force Base. The base was renamed McCoy Air Force Base in the months after the crash. That Air Force Base eventually closed and became Orlando International Airport in the 1970s. Our luggage tags have had MCO on them ever since.

    Gosh growing up in the 90s I miss MCO so much when it was big but not super big I miss those times so much I always felt the Walt Disney Vibe the minute I stepped into the terminal.

    I have been to MCO many times in my young 14 year old life, and I am actually going back for a one week Maine trip in 6 days. I also live around the area, Longwood to be exact. Just wanna say, you made a great video showing newbies how to get around!

    Note to those using Universal's Superstar Shuttle service,: they pick you up in the same area as Disney: the B side of the terminal, level 1. If you exit the terminal and head right, note where the Disney parking starts. That's the LAST spot for Universal's shuttles. You may have to step back one or two spaces. Don't worry, you'll know the bus when you see it: they have a picture of Hogwarts on the side. Hope that helps.

    I would also add that if you are parking in the garage it is VERY IMPORTANT to remember what animal is on your garage floor by the elevator. The last thing you want to do is wander around A garage 2nd floor looking for your car when you parked at B garage 2nd floor.

    Thank you so much for the video! Quick question... if arriving on side A, do I need to take the APM to grab my baggage on level 2?

    • @TheOrlandoGuy
      @TheOrlandoGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The *APM* will transport you from the *airside terminal* (where you arrive), to the *main terminal* (3rd Floor). From there look for the *lighted A sign* and take the escalator down to level 2 for baggage claim.

    I'm nervous about finding my way to security when departing MCO I always fly Southwest I'm usually traveling alone are there signs where to go

    • @TheOrlandoGuy
      @TheOrlandoGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! You can’t miss security on level 3 where you take the APM to your departing gate.

    • @TheOrlandoGuy
      @TheOrlandoGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      BTW Southwest departures and arrivals are in Terminal A, so follow the directions painted on the road to park in Garage A. Check-in for baggage is in the Main Terminal on level 3 - the same level as your security checkpoint and APM ride to your departure gate at the airside terminal. Don’t forget to grab a Selmas rice crispy treat in the Main Terminal before going through security! 😀 Hope this helps! If you're being dropped off at the airport, you'll already be on level 3.

    • @TheOrlandoGuy

      Hi Clark. Rideshare services would pick you up on Level 2 of the main terminal - same as baggage claim. Only commercial services like taxis, shuttles and rental cars are on level 1.

    They need better ground transport options instead of all these shit stain tourist buses. A shuttle to Sanford International or Melbourne International would alleviate flight cancelation nightmares.
