Good looking simple knives! Call me an oddball, lately I have been carrying two RR's as my daily.
Aptos series, RR2283, RR2282. Very happy with these two knives- will be looking into these VIBES RR... 👍🏼

Great disclosure. I certainly have no problem with receiving free review samples, so long as it’s disclosed. These knives probably aren’t my thing, but they certainly look to be as good as many of the modern slip joints from people like real steel etc.
The Fuller reminds me of The André De Villiers butcher. He puts it on both sides but north of 300 quid for his!
These should sell well in the UK, though you’re right and upgraded steel and more colours might help. With just a 2 inch blade they should make a really good UKEDC. A friend of mine has the Benchmade full immunity., Which is a similar size and shape, but also hideously expensive.

An olive color would be nice...

Looks like a decent knife. I think you maybe correct about why the sales are not what they wanted. Thanks for sharing and God Bless.

Nice little utility knife. Quirky, which is kind of a RR thing. 😊. Have a great day!

    Hi Tobias:
Good on all you said. A nice simple little knife. Even though the clip isn’t reversible….at least it’s tip up. A lot of Rough Ryder clips are tip down, which is a deal breaker for me. They also will often put a lanyard hole on those…..which is opposite of what it should be. What use is a lanyard if it’s crammed down in the pocket? Inexplicable.

Looks like a decent knife both to carry and use. I guess to make nail nicks on both sides they would need to thicken the blade some and beef it all up. I also wish these companies would use a black colored clip instead of bright shiny chrome finished ones that stand out in your pocket a block away. Good review Tobias thanks for bringing this one to our attention.

I really like mine, I carry it a lot. I would love to see a mid size version

Practical looking knife. I’ve never carried a Wharncliffe or sheep foot (unless you count the sheep foot on some of my stockman knives decades ago), but I have an old battered sheep foot in my shop tool chest. That is a handy blade for shop use, cutting hose or string, etc. I might not make that my EDC, but it looks like a great shop knife.👍

i have a statgear ledge knife with very similar specs but it has d2 steel. when it comes to modern folders i totally expect better steel.

also, if they used natural g10 then people could dye it and therefore personalize it

Tobias, What about adding another blade like either a pen blade or maybe victorinox style can opener and bill it as a new modern British army knife.

Wow a pocket knife with G10 scales for under $15 is amazing 👍

They remind me a bit of the Spyderco Roadie. Small, pocketable and non threatening though capable enough for most daily tasks. I’ve reached a point where I can’t really justify any new EDC knives, but I might have to make a little room in my collection.

Rough Rider made the APTA line of modern folders and for 10 bucks more you get Micarta and VG-10. They are slightly bigger and have more colors and blade shapes.👍

YES! VG 10 and multi color g 10 to pick from ! I would totally buy this for my niece if there was a pink or purple.

It’s different for RR, so I’ll prob grab one. Don’t know why you’d put a pocket clip on a 3 inch knife, but at least you can take it off. I wish RR used D2 and vg10 on their more modern stuff, cuz generally you can use a modern knife harder than a traditional, so the better edge retention would’ve been nice. I actually like the sheepsfoot blade. I think you can def get some use out of it. Thanks for the honest review

These look like good platforms for modification. RR should offer parts for these...spearpoint or clip point blades. new spacers, hardware, covers of different materials.

I have to be honest, both of those VIBES look like knives you see in a plastic jar sitting on the sales counter at a hardware store or a Dollar Store.
Just looking at them, I wouldnt pay more than $1.99 for them and I wouldnt expect them to be able to actually cut much of anything.

My Son just walked by and saw this video playing, he says those knives look like the knives on TV that are 100 knives for 99$....I think that says all.
He knew nothing about this video or who made the knives, but he took one look at them and said "99cents"...

The funny thing is -- I say they same thing about one of the most popular modern folders out there - the Benchmade Bugout ! LOL. This is the problem with modern folders!

    • @Orlosthedruid
      @Orlosthedruid 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@KnifeChatswithTobias I went to buy myself a BUGOUT. Once I handled it, looked hard at the construction, I passed.
I know there are so many folks who truly love those BenchMades, but I am not one of them. Ill never pay the money they ask for one.
Isnt it nice that we live in a nation where we can like something, not like something else, and have a friendly conversation about why?
      I love AMERICA!
FWIW. When I look at the blade size, the materials used for the knife, and the price, I made the choice to instead buy the GANZO 759m-Orange. I ended up buying 3 because I like it so much. the blade is 440C, and regardless of what anyone says, it is really good steel for a knife. In all other respects, its a Byrd-Spyderco knife. Just built better and far less $.
I dont buy knives for ego sake or for stature in community, its a tool, not a status symbol for me. Also, its not a fidget toy.
Tobias....be well brother, take care, stay healthy, and keep on smiling !!

Kinda of a robust pen knife 😊

  • @rockets4kids
    @rockets4kids 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

This knife demonstrates two fails I see over and over again in modern knife designs:
    1. The handle indexes in such a way that it is unnatural to make use of the entire handle. This is doubly bad on such a small knife.
    2. The use of a deep carry pocket clip that doesn't provide for deep carry. A standard clip would carry in the same position, and not suffer all the problems of deep carry clips.
I see a lot of potential here but this lack of attention to details makes it a great big nope for me.
