There are plenty of alternative magsafe mounts apart from the official Insta360 one, and most are cheaper. I have one and it's very strong, even though I hardly ever use it.
Highly impressed with your videography and presentation I have the Insta flow. It would be great if you were able to use this with the GPS Action Remote for the 360 and it would track the remote and you would be able to start and stop recording from it would be an awesome piece of kit, keep up the great work you gain the subscriber on this one. Any ideas you have for remotely controlling the Insta flow would be greatly appreciated
Thank you for the kind words! Awesome idea by the way.I think that could be super useful out in the field. I also think a sort of fob with the ability to toggle recording, control pan, tilt and zoom would also be super useful.
Late to the party but what is the 360 Pros payload listed at? It seems to wobble under the load of that phone and accessories… thanks for any help you can provide!
Insta360 specs rate the Flow Pro payload capacity at 300 grams. The setup I’m flying in the video is 311 grams. That 311 grams payload includes the iPhone 15 Pro, Rhinoshield Crash Guard Mod NX, the USB-C adapter and Zike USB-C hub; as well as the Samsung Pro Plus SD, and the aftermarket Flow Pro magnetic mount. I believe any wobbles you see in the video are due more to the mini tripod legs and not so much the payload. And I can’t say I notice wobbles in the footage, but you let me know. Outside of that… at 311 grams, the Flor Pro functions as advertised. Starts up with no issues. Calibrates just fine, and flys okay by my standards. Hope that helps!
Dope setup! I Especially like the usb c adapter with the sd card slot! I just bought the flow pro for my iPhone 15 pro, for mics I have the dji mic 2 it plugs right into the usb-c port but I don’t know how I should fit it in with the adapter so I could charge and record on a sd card as well. Do you have any suggestions?
Interesting! Thanks. I have a first gen Flow and use it with my iPhone12pm. While I have bought a magsafe mount similar to you, I've not used it since I have to have the connector offset because of my mic Rx!!! Pity as it would have been much neater!!! I have a Fulaim X5 mic which has a Rx which sticks out the end of the phone so I have to balance the whole thing carefully before switching on the Flow and preventing it from working extra hard, draining the battery and overheating everything. Recently I've had a problem with the flow & phone overheating and switching off after 60 seconds. Thankfully I discovered that deleting the Flow App, rebooting, and re-installing the app solved the overheating problem. Who knows why???
Excellent production quality and love the style, concise editing and jazzy music. Im just setting my insta Flo Pro up currently. Very compact and well thought out rig. One question… unless i missed it?…you have the option to record onto the external micro sd card? Will it handle pro res 4k? The dongle is 10k gbs, (1250 MB) but the micro sd cards are usually what 190/200 MB per second? Is that ok for pro res 4k? Also Im guessing it’s not a waterproof option? (I’m in the UK …we have been known to occasionally have some rain here don’tcha know)
First, thanks for the comment and kind words, really appreciate that! Zike’s materials say their extender is rated at 120MB read. From my testing with it, the write speeds of the USB-C ports are capable of recording Pro Res LT at 24 & 30 fps with no dropped frames or over heating. And for reference, I’ve recorded clips in Pro Res LT at 30fps up to 30 minutes long. And the cards I’m using are SanDisk Extreme’s and SamSung EVO’s. Technically those cards don’t meet the Pro Res minimum write speed, but I’ve been able to record with them with no visible issues. If I’m not mistaken, Pro Res write speeds are recommend at like 200 to 220 MB and Pro Res LT is like 120 or 140 respectively. So, in your case, if you can get away with Pro Res LT, I think you’ll be happy with the results. And for reference Pro Res LT files are about 30% smaller on average. And no the Flow Pro is sadly not water proof. Maybe try fashioning a pancho with a clear plastic bag? Hope that helps!
Sounds like a project for PGY Tech to get on! And come to think of it, I’m actually surprised that’s not an accessory bundled with their OneMo camera bags.
I added a magnetic ring to the back of my case for my own piece of mine, cause I was worried about how well the mag safe adapter would do. In my usage, it’s solid. Like I don’t even think about it.
I have a wireless mic(Lark M2) that way much smaller and better than that mic you use. That Zike is too bulky, just records straight into iPhone then transfer to IPad later to edit videos. My setup is way lighter and faster.
The Zike USB type C extension does allow for capturing multiple codecs, including ProRes LT, straight to an SD card while recording with the BlackMagic camera app. The Lark M2 is a legit system, but I just love the way the Saramonic Blink system pairs with the Rode video mic NTG for when I want a boom mic out of frame, that’s mostly why the Blink 500 B2 wireless lav mics still have a place in my kit. And for when I need/want a more streamlined kit, I use the DJI mic 2. I also think recording internally would render a more streamlined setup compared to what I’m rocking, but transferring files the way you’re doing is a step I would still opt to skip. Because even if your setup is faster, I think my workflow would be faster by having all my clips on an SD. And lastly, recording externally keeps your internal memory free for cellphone stuff. So I still say my setup would remain unbeatable. Sorry son, try again later.
On a toasty afternoon, like between 95 and 98 degrees, I did get some dropped frames recording to the Sandisk Extreme SD card with the Blackmagic camera app using ProRes LT. But, I only experienced those dropped frames when recording clips longer than 3+ minutes. So, if you’re out doors maybe go with H.265.
Bonjour, excellent ce partage . Cela m’intéresse bien. Merci beaucoup
Great 👍🏾 work + super helpful with your gadget iq that’s on Jedi Master level ❤
So glad I found your video. Was about to buy that magnetic thing from insta website till your link to Amazon.
Glad I could help!

This is great. Thanks. I have trouble finding the Zike extender in The Netherlands where I live. But you have me on the right track

@@MDLG1122 many thanks for the detailed information. Yes a high tech plastic poncho solution sounds grand!

Love the set up! I’m using Rode Wireless Pro for a receiver/mic which would at least let you use USB C instead of aux & an adapter
Nice looking video!
Thank you very much!
Does this work with goole pixel
I’m sure you could. But I feel like you get the best experience with an iPhone 15 or 16 pro.
How well does the iPhone stay on by mag safe?
I added a magnetic ring to the back of my case for my own piece of mine, cause I was worried about how well the mag safe adapter would do. In my usage, it’s solid. Like I don’t even think about it.

This has answered a few questions, especially if those SD’s are fast enough to work with ProRes LT or Proxy…the Zike seems a good shout
