Hello Charlie, Thank you for your recognition and honesty regarding your review on the Assyrian recurve bow. I myself am Assyrian and a bow hunter here in Arizona, USA and own several types of recurve and compound bows. Assyrian have a history of in civil engineering and weoponry going back couple thousands years B.C. and weapon design was one of our top priority. Very glad that I found your channel...and also your shots and speed in motion are incredible! Thank you, again!

I also have a Bogar Assyrian bow and it also is a favorite bow in my collection.
I have to admit that the Korean design is my first pick, but this bow is so close as it doesnt matter which I choose.
I have watched quite a lot of Armin Hirmer's video reviews, if you go back and look through them you will find this "Assyrian" design a top performer in every case , no matter the builder.
There is just something about this design. It is easy to brace, it's a little longer than some others but that lends itself to the stability of the bow and the ease of shooting and hitting. The draw is smooth and release is fast. the bow does not fight you or surprise you.
I am American and have built and explored Native American bow designs from all around the this country for 40 years ... there is one native bow that follows this same type of profile ... the Miwok bow. Of all the Native American bow types, I consider the Miwok the best.
There is just something about this bow profile that works in every way.
    well done Charlie !

Maybe it's something to do with more of the limb being use as a bending elastic lever, whereas the B shaped recurve styles use less of their limb as the lever? Thus you have to make them greater in mass to get the same sort of energy from it, maybe?

Took the time to shoot my 37 lbs Bogar Assyrian Bow yesterday for the first time at my Puta target and 3D animals. What a GREAT bow! I shot thumb draw (28" draw length) and used pinewood arrows around 369-390 gn. Got great hits even at further distances up to 55m. Bogar Assyrian Bow highly recommended!

I like the wear and tear showing on the bow. You can tell it's not just a decoration to you, but rather that there have been literally hundreds upon hundreds of arrows shot using its strength. Damn solid piece of wood!

Hi Charlie, thanks for your work. I am a runner, and I started doing archery this year. Upon finding your TH-cam videos on running archery I've decided to expand my archery efforts past standard western target archery, and I'm trying to add movement instead of just standing still. I've purchased a Bogar Assyrian bow (37# is a bit heavy for me as a beginner, but it was the only Assyrian bow that was available, and I just realised it's exactly the same weight as your Assyrian bow!). Anyway thanks again for your work, and I'll report back when I can get out to the archery range and start practicing running archery. :)

Great bow! I had one in very low draw weight and sold it to a beginner student, who is happy with it!
Hard to say, what's my favourite bow... I have shot nearly 100 different horsebows over the last seven years. I am a Turkish style archer. Alibow's Tatar Bow is amazing, also the longer Vegh Hungarian, very forgiving. I have learned thumb draw on a Vegh Turkish, but for me Jackal Archery's new Akinji Bow beats them all! Accurate, fast, dynamic, durable!
P.S. Talking about English Longbows, there can be only one for me: the English Outlaw Longbow from Robin Hood Archery made by Heritage Bows of England....

Angular bows are one of the if not the fastest design for the draw length. My kadesh shoots 195 with 10 gpp at 30". Outperforms all my other bows. Turkish, Tatar, selfbow etc. Very forgiving bow design as well.

Hey Charlie, I know the draw weight of this bow is 37 lbs. But out of curiosity; what would you say the best suited poundage is for yourself? or what would you say the maximum poundage you can draw almost comfortably without sacrificing too much of accuracy?

    • @CharliesRunningArchery
      @CharliesRunningArchery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Good Question! Everyting in between 35-40 is okay for me, comfortable, easy. My maximum for being good is around 45 if we talk about consistent results while shooting like 100-300 arrows in a row. I can shoot pretty good even with 50lbs or 60lbs bows too, but! Only like 5-10 arrows and I'm done. Did my answer help?

i think the design concept is centered to the balance of the strength
it's almost symetrical, in slow descent to the extreme wich has no sirah like a turkish model
less resistance, and a regular transmission of the power
Jackal Archey's model is bigger, 57.5 inches, it seems to be a pure delight and more confortable again !!

Iam not sure if iam right. I see your video at the moment iam at 5:01 and i see how you shoot the korean bow by daylight archery witch i also have and it looks like you hold the bow wrong. The thicker part of the handle should be the lower part of the bow (normally you dont see the white/yellow material of the handle). They are asymetrikal, i have a brace hight difference of 1 cm from the upper to the lower limb. Eventually this is the reason why you feel handshock and i dont feel any handshock with 55lbs by 380gn or iam not so sensitive to handshock. Btw. you have a great style of shooting and running/jumping.
