What a great looking Chevy that is! It is such a shame that todays vehicles are just designed for better efficiency. Seeing these old cars always makes me want to travel back to the old days when they still had great looks and a certain character you just cannot find when you look at the cars produced today.

I've always liked the styling of the 2nd gen Monte Carlos. My papaw had a '73 with a 350, my uncle had a '75 with a 350 and I had a '76 with a 400 small block I miss my Monte. I'd love to have another one..

These are great cars. Built for respect, just like a regular person, I've worked hard so now its time for my car to reflect that. These Monte's are built for the roughest terrain yet decent 25 mpg in these days. Excellent suspension for a very comfortable cruise anytime just like coming home for a good steak and baked pototos, lasagna, or pizza with a great movie to relax with your woman or family. Built to last for a very long time with you and your family.

I owned two of these cars. One had the 350 4bbl. It too had the black interior, but it had the fuel economy gauge. No dummy lights at all. The other had the standard 305 2bbl. with the dummy lights. Both cars drove beautifully. They just don't make cars like this anymore.

I owned two of these 77's. One had the 350 and a fuel economy gauge, and the other had the 305 two barrel like this one. This car is a beauty!!! I love that it's factory and not messed with. They weren't very powerful cars, but they were gorgeous and rode really nice. I have always loved the curves that Monte Carlos had. 76 & 77's were my favorite years with the dual square headlights. 76's had better engine options and the tall tail lights. 77's had the hood ornament.

I had a 76 in 1980. Loved the style but couldn't get out of its own way.
    So I had a fantasy,
    I purchased a 77 twenty years ago.
    Labor of love.
    383 stroker 480 HP 482 TQ. 700-R-4 shift kit, 373-posi.
Hedman hedders, Quick-Fuel 750 double pumper. Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. Replaced idiot lights forAuto Gauges.
16" American Racing torque-thrust chrome wheels with 255's in the rear.
0-60 in 5.5 seconds. Power windows, cruise control, factory sky roof. Factory grid rear defroster. Ice cold R-12 AC
Red basecoat/clearcoat with white interior, swivel buckets, white landau top. My fantasy came true, a Monte with balls!

Nice '77 Monte. The car I learned to drive on. My folks had a black one with red interior; 305 2 bbl. Wanted it as mine badly. Folks sold it in 1989 just before I had my license. Never forgave them for that! The '73-'77 body was the nicest one and IMHO one of the best looking cars ever.

GM did a lot of strange shit back then and they did not miss a opportunity to count what should have came standard with the car as extras. For example 76 and 77 models is noticeable when it does not have the sport mirrors and the 350 engine w dual exhaust power windows and door locks rear defogger premium stereo and the half landau vinyl top and when i see one with the floor shifter and bucket seats that is the icing on the cake.

That brings back memories. My parents bought a new blue on blue 77 and had it many years. I was born in 81. I was a big fan of the Dukes of Hazzard and would sit in the Monte in the driveway with the windows rolled down pretending to drive, and climb in and out of the vehicle through the windows.

I have had 2 1977 monte Carlo's , my first one my dad bought for me when I was 14 in 1988 it was all original with 26,000 miles on it ,in 1992 I had it painted red it was black when he bought it , it had a 305 2 barrel not enough power , last spring I put a built 350 in it with a turbo 350 tranny with manual valve body and 3000 stall converter now it runs a lot better, but a big car like it needs a big block , I will not sell it unless I am out of money , I will have it forever.my second was bought from a car lot it was in rough shape , I did some bodywork on it and painted it and put aluminum slots on it with mickey Thompsons and a wing on it , it was my beater I had it for a couple years then sold it because it wasn't in great condition but still miss it people thought it looked good, I told them this is my beater , my nice one is in my dad's garage.

Dad's 77 Monte Carlo was blue with a blue velore cloth interior with base V8. I remember because I was recruited to clean it. I learned how to drive on this car and recall just having to stab the gas pedal and let the momentum of the car propel us forward what seemed like a block at a time very smoothly. The horror came when it was regulated to 2nd vehicle status then scrapped for a 1990 105hp 4 banger toyota corolla with no air and no radio for 12500 canadian pesos tx incl. It was like going back to horse and carriage.

It was a great idea back in the day with cold winters, carbureted cars, and a cold start. You could give it a bit more gas to keep it from stalling. Imagine trying to maneuver out of a tight spot in the city, with someone waiting for your spot, and your car keeps stalling. Not with 2 feet. Also a guy wrote an entire book on the subject, the benefits of driving with 2 feet. Great book, I will find it. Also, they purposely made the brake pedal double wide. It was a rare auto tranny car that has/had a narrow brake pedal.

I had a 77 in high school in the 90s. The car was low mileage but the bench seat was 'high mileage'. 17 year old me wouldn't have traded it for anything. We needed something to do in the days before social media haha

I purchased a 1977 Monte with just a few miles on it in early 1978(in other words, not brand new, but close to it). Still...have it. I wanted this body style because the 1978(& later)models were downsized. I would have been happy with a Grand Prix or Cutlass(1973-1977), but I had a dealer find me that body style, & he was able to land the Monte, & I was extremely happy with what he found. Sadly, as good looking(I think)these vehicles were, they came during an era of very shoddy quality & workmanship, not just American Vehicles, but Foreign ones, as well. In my opinion, the shoddy-ness began in the early 1970s, & continued into(at least)...the mid 1990s. The 1980s vehicles were...horrendous. Just...crap. In the mid 1980s, though, Foreign vehicle makers began...stepping the quality up, but the American manufactures continued building...crap. For example, I kept my vehicle(from DAY ONE)in a heated garage at my house, never drove it in winter, and the paint STILL FADED and some rust developed. This...won't happen, but every man, woman & child that purchased an "American made vehicle" from, roughly, 1973-1995, should be entitled to a "rebate" from the manufacturer! Yes, there IS more compo, these days, but the "Big Three" built & sold CRAP for 20/plus years. And this-in some ways-caught up with them. Nowadays, we have(mostlty)very "bland" looking vehicles, but I do believe the quality has gotten much better.
