@ToeMuncher-xs4vs lol. Right. This is why I just describe them as "sun-tanned" because they're white and naturally tan in the sun and proves that they get sun enough to the point of change but are still white. If someone was POC it would be "tan skinned" or "dark skinned" 😭

Hey, fellow non visual person! yeah i find it interesting too, my mind adds like a lore tag about the looks but whenever it comes to watching movies its far more do they vibe the right way. :) Not that many of us in the comments though
@@Simi_Rose yesss, exactly! it's all about the vibes :D I wondered for years why people were losing their shit when characters or stuff in adaptations didn't look like they were described in the books. but I always thought "hey, if it's important to them, go nuts! and I also get upset about weird stuff" until I learned that people actually have pictures in their heads when they read. I always thought that people don't mean that literally when they talk about reading ^^ now all those complains make much more sense ^^
Aphantasiac readers unite! we are not alone XD There are actually more non visual people than what most people would imagine, simply because most people don't realise others perceive and process things very differently, and so don't realise that we are actually strange and "picture whatever in your mind" isn't hyperbole. Kinda fascinating
i once (accidentally) read a trilogy in the wrong order and when i got to book one i already had set ideas in mind about what the characters looked like.... i was wrong about a lot.
Tbh, I’ve half given up on imagining the characters in books to the letter. Whenever I read a part of the book that mentions a specific part of their look that makes a difference in the story, I kinda just slap the detail onto my mental image. I once read a book for english class, and I went through the whole thing thinking that the mc had blue hair, but after I reread his description for the book report, I realized that the book described it as ocean-sand coloured hair or smth like that instead of ocean coloured hair
Imma be honest, i dont pay attention to characters physical apperance since i dont picture the scene playing out as i read. The only thing that would have got me would be the gender swap or a race change, lol. That happened to me once while i was reading a book whose name i forget. The MC was named Alex and i thought they were a whits girl. Got a few chapters in before realizing they were in fact a black guy
Wait soooo is this like a real scenario from a book or are you just really good at coming up with interesting scenarios. Because this totally sounds like a book id love ❤. Also would love some book recommendation if anyone one has some.
Im dyslexic so even when a book is well written, this is my experience. I suspect you werent trying to highlight that experience but I feel heard and i appreciate it. 😅
Fr tho, and it's even worse in my language because now I can't even figure out the gender through the pronouns people use when referring to the narrator in third person (my language has no gendered pronouns whatsoever, I have mixed up WoF character's genders before, I thought Moonwatcher was a dude for SEVERAL BOOKS 💀)
This is so true as a reader and as someone who likes to write stories, i always try to be descriptive as possible to avoid major confusion with a characters design cause thats the most annoying part of trying to envision a sceneeis not knowing what the main character looks like at all..- (Also off topic but everyone in this video and outfits were drop deas gorgeous wtf? i hate having to reimagine what characters look like. as a writer and a reader, i recommend establishing looks early on, or, ideally, describe the main characters minimally.
And then 50 chapters in they throw in a "My pale skin" and you gotta start all over 😔
Me when they described alice's hair in the 4TH TWILIGHT BOOK. WDYM "not like her usual short spiky hair"??? I THOUGHT HER HAIR WAS LONG??
That or olive skin that’s supposedly tan but not poc
