I used to clean this mansion on weekends when I was in high school and also gave tours of the building based on the histories given us by descendants of the Jarrot family. The local B&PW (Business and Professional Women), gave many parties there at Christmas time and on special occasions especially during the observance of the Lewis & Clark's Expedition. The knots in the upstairs ball room, we were told by the Jarrot descendants, came about after a flood one one year that put the water level as high as the second floor. The family went in and out in boats. When the waters receded, the knots in the floor swelled and stayed that way ever since. It is very bumpy, I know, because I used to clean that floor by hand on my hands and knees and polished the floor, which at that time did have a varnish on it. The restoration done on this building since the 1970's is amazing. I very much enjoyed helping to take care of this treasured old building.

I lived there for a while in the 1960's. There was a porch back then and I slid off it in my socks and ripped up my back. Still have the scar to prove it.
