Hearing the word 'talent/gifted' may be discouraging or unmotivating but with 'hardwork' everyone could get motivated and who knows it turns out they do have some talent. Hardwork beats talent, but talent who works hard is unbeatable. Messi is the best example. Imagine after scoring 91 goals in a year he suddenly got bored and lazy, had beer belly, barely ran in 90 minutes. He'd easily marked out by the worst defenders and fell to oblivion. CR7 is a different beast, he literally made himself that way, hardwork 101%. Experts and coaches would always rate Messi above him but looking at his achievments I don't mind being always the second best.

Soccer is the only sport you have to be born w skills . Training plays a small part. I grew up watching Rivelino practicing at Fluminense ( one of the greatest Brazilian players of all time ) he was last and skip every steps. Hated run..... in the field , a beast . Only Pele was better than him . Training helps , but in soccer doesn't do much .

The diff between messi and ronaldo is messi trains more in field with the ball on his technique where as ronaldo trains more in gym for his body than in field with ball.
