    George Carlin, RIP, very intelligent and honest on so many levels.

    Carlin was at his best when he stopped giving a shit. I'll take his work in the 2000's over the hippy dippy weatherman every time. His last years were his best years as a comic imo.

      That's usually how it goes. People are wisest in their old age.

    George Carlin is like a father figure. my real father is my role model, but george is the twisted "uncle" who shares my dissatisfaction with the way society turned out, and we get drunk, smoke a joint, and bullshit all night and share ideas....classic

    The best human ever is George Carlin

    Remarkable that people who's whole act is so angry can be so nice. He must've made Dana Gould's decade with such a kind statement at the end of the interview. Thanks so much for sharing.

    Dana Gould; "He's a nice guy that cares about people"
    George Carlin; "I don't care about the human race"

    • @Entropy106
      @Entropy106 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He likes people as individuals but he thinks the human race is in a downward glide and doesn’t connect with the species. He isn’t an idealist. But he liked people as individuals and was actually a very nice person

    i know you must hold this dear to your heart how comfortable and genuine he was with you, he's always that way but he seemed different here and he gave you a great compliment at the end, that's awesome

    What fun for Dana! I just can't imagine. When George accepted macro critic label that'd be very gratifying. And another great book why Carlin is When will Jesus bring the pork chops.

    @4:57 - Interesting that George knows of the concept of "punctuated equilibrium", applied it to his career, and that the person to whom this concept is attributed shares that same last name with the interviewer.

    Is this... on a set? Are those extras hanging out at the tables in the background or are they somehow actually at a bar with 2 cameras and low background noise?

    Thanks for the video, he is so interesting to listen to word by word. I was pretty bummed out when he died. He was definitely a hero of mine, seeing him first as a teen in 1977 NYC Beacon Theater, later in the 80s as an adult in Las Vegas and loving his TV show in the 90s. I wonder if George had a lot of shit, I mean stuff, left over? Lol.

    If people want to believe that Elvis, TuPac & Michael Jackson are alive and only come out when the street lights come on, than George Carlin is alive to me...until this interview is over, then he's dead again.

    It’s strikes me that George seems to imply life is absurd. Not just that human activity is absurd and meaningless, but that everything is absurd and meaningless. So why do stand up? Especially considering his standup was performed to connect with people… in an ultimately meaningless world.

    ONE time ...I was quoting my hero George Carlin. I wasn't on stage.... I wasn't getting paid..... wasn't claiming the jokes as my own. this got around him and he said I was stealing his material.... I don't know why. In return he stole about a dozen of my jokes and use them in his HBO specials!!😣 verbatim with hand gestures and everything ....He was not a good guy and he did all this with this nasty attitude
