Your use of “No more Gretchens, boy.” at the end... _chef’s kiss_ . It’s haunting, it’s personal, and I think it leaves enough to the imagination to not give away what move Hazel is going to make / which side he is going to favor.

Hazel is the Oven finding out Salem killed his sister.
So can we talk about how terrifying Salem was in this episode. If I'm not mistaken this is the first time we really see her fight. Jaune and Ren deserve more screentime together. Love how Yang really delivered on her declaration towards her Mother. "I won't run."
Hazel's redemption seemed a little fast to me, but I still liked how he sacrificed himself to give them the chance to escape. Over all this has to be the best episode of volume 8 so far

This really has been the best episode of RWBY this season. I haven't been this hyped since the Tyrian vs Clover and Crow fight back in V7!

So Hazel said when he first attacked Salem the longest she was gone was "a few hours". I feel like Oscar using magic missile would constitute more instant damage than Hazel could've produced. That means Salem is out of commission for a few hours, possibly the remainder of the volume. This leaves the whale completely undefended and the Grimm without directive. I think this might've singlehandedly given Atlas a draw at best

Salem said Summer Rose was wrong too. But Tai yang and the rest of them “thought” she was dead. What if Summer rose is being locked somewhere by Salem or what if she somehow got away when Salem thought she was dead. Plus, the grave of Summer rose’s grave was just placed there but it must’ve been a thought that they thought that she died. Idk I just hope Summer is alive because they said she fought Salem but said she disappeared. If she’s dead, I’m highly dissatisfied and disappointed
I like the idea of Summer still being alive, but as a grotesque superpowerful emotional boss-level being that they will fight latter in the series. If Summer is still alive and saveable that would honestly piss me off because the suspense, impact and all the buildup across at least eight volumes suddenly goes to waste with the fact that she is still fuly alive and saveable
