This entire bag is designed to be accessed horizontally, like a traditional duffel bag (minus the back straps). So why would aer put a vertical zipper on the front of the bag? I love the bag, but I feel like that is a big miss aesthetically. It's hard for me to look past it.
I use the Gym Duffel 2. The vertical zip compartment looks odd at first but it is quite easy to access when you’re carrying this using the shoulder strap.
Yeah that's a good point, probably might've been better to have a top down zipper going around the edge of the front - Ed
In the secondary compartment on the inside of the main compartment I’d place a gym towel.

Great video, I’m thinking of purchasing one. Do you think I should get the backpack version or this duffel version ? I’m a student who goes to school and gym. I also have a question, is it comfortable to carry if you need to walk some distances, like maybe a couple km?

How roomy is the shoe compartment? Do you have to stack the shoes to make them fit?
Hi David! You should not have to stack your shoes to make them fit, as the compartment is designed to provide ample space for your footwear. It can comfortably fit up to a men's size 13 shoe.
Nice review man. I like your channel. But this bag doesn’t seem practical for an athlete in training mode. More for going to the gym a few times a week. Bring to work with you then head to the gym. I’d want something larger. Any recs?

Does this bag fit underneath an airplane seat?
Based on the dimensions (43 cm x 29 cm x 23 cm), the Aer 15" Gym Duffel 3 24L may not fit underneath an airplane seat, as it exceeds typical airline seat dimensions. The typical dimensions for under-seat storage on airlines are around 45 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm. Therefore, it's advisable to stow it in the overhead compartment during flights.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd get frustrated with all the zips and pockets. Gym bag for me is just hold my stuff and have quick access. To be honest I would hate mixing work stuff etc with gym stuff as it would stink from all the sweat. So for me a simple duffel bag works perfectly.

It's for Laptop that's why they have the belt to fasten it tightly.
Are you referring to the buckled down sleeve in the main gym gear compartment? If so, I'm not so sure about that, because they have a dedicated laptop sleeve on the side of the bag (which is padded and fleece-lined etc). - Ed
Interesting they went and slashed the capacity by 1/3
A lot of brands do these often, and maybe in this case they found a sweet spot between functionality and portability, or perhaps there were some design improvements that necessitated the capacity reduction.

Memobottle recommends the old 50/50 - warm water and vinegar, shake well, rinse and let dry.

Time to retire the term "minimalist" when applied to Aer and other such bags? Minimal would be a drawstring sack or a Japanese knot bag, not one with several compartments, Aquagard zippers, buckles, dividers, etc. One can't even describe this Aer duffle as "sleek."
Minimalist doesn’t mean small or less. Utilizing space, no matter how large is being minimal.
