    Liberation is more than freedom songs. All we do is sing freedom songs. Freedom songs can't liberate Africa, people tired of the long talk. Full respect to the leaders of Bakina Faso, Mali & Niger, they kicked out the French, Actions speak Louder than Words.

    Where attention goes power flows. Singing about nothing but the current problems will just keep you depressed with those problems. The whole world already portrays Africa as a poor place and magnifies our problems to a point that that's all that a lot of people know about Africa. African artists have worked hard to change the narrative. So instead of just producing more negativity and helplessness, I'm happy that African artists focuss on positivity, upliftment and prosperity. That's what we need to focuss on to materialise the solutions we all need.

      Yes
      Being African is also about culture, respect, understanding the dynamics of Africa and even speaking the language,
      To be honest white SA or white Zimbabweans are more African than you. They integrate well with locals, speak the languages, they build and are part of the solutions.
      Meanwhile blacks from the western world are only good in criticizing Africans as if they are better or doing anything better. To be honest without a lie, African culture and Africans in general are honorable people than you. Let’s just be real about it.
      Leave us Africans alone, you don’t want to integrate with us, we are fine and about 1.5 billion people. We can pretty much coexist among ourselves without anybody.
      Leave us alone please.

    Vegas and his crazy ass fans don't seem to understand what Buju was saying. Buju clearly said, there is nothing wrong with singing happy songs or songs about material things, but he haven't heard any of them singing about Africa like Jamaicans has been doing since the beginning of reggae, conscious and dancehall music. I'm sure there are a few Afro artists that do sing conscious songs, but it's properly not enough. Giving the platform they have now.

How many profane Dancehall Jamaica sounds have we heard all these years - you have singers like Alkaline, Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Tommy Lee , Sean Paul , and many more who only sang about sex , guns , drugs and so many social vices and you Buju Comes saying what??
    We AFRICA is what we call music !!

  • @benzspidaa
    @benzspidaa 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Here we go again. Music is based on individual feelings. Not all music has to be about fighting for freedom. Africans never specifically asked reggae or dancehall artists to sing songs about freeing Africa-that’s a choice the artists make based on their preferred genre. Dancehall addresses different issues than reggae, and Afrobeat focuses on what it needs to. That doesn’t mean it’s rubbish. In fact, Afrobeats is doing way better than our music. Just look at the videos-they’re getting more views, and more people are being drawn to the music because of its melodic feel. Sound and melody existed before words could be formulated, so maybe Jamaicans should focus more on that rather than just focusing on lyrics. We don’t embrace differences, yet our motto is “Out of Many, One People.” Lol, pure rubbish.
